Good Day ROAD TRIPPERS!!!! Here we are in AB FAB Florence, Italy!!! I have been chomping at the bit to get here, it is my favorite city in all of Italy and I think it is the most gorgeous. I could spend a lifetime here, but we won't. Here is a clip from the wiki and a link to the wiki: Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture. One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.” Florence has an area of 39.54 square miles and an approximate population of 383,083 people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence Our first stop is the Gallerie Degli Uffizi. This is my favorite museum in the whole world!!! They have things from most of the great masters of the Italian and European Renaissance. We are booked for a privated guided tour and will follow the Corridoio Vasariano from the Gallerie Degli Uffizi to the Giardino di Boboli Gardens and from there to the Palazzo Pitti. Here are a few links: https://www.uffizi.it/pagine/chi-siamo https://www.uffizi.it/corridoio-vasariano https://www.uffizi.it/giardino-boboli https://www.uffizi.it/palazzo-pitti Next we are going to the Piazzale Michelangelo. This is a town square designed by Giuseppe Poggi. Here is a link to the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piazzale_Michelangelo Our next stop is the Galleria dell'Accademia. This museum now houses Michaelangelo's David. I have booked us a private guided tour that includes all rooms in the museum. Here is a link to the website: http://www.galleriaaccademiafirenze.beniculturali.it/galleria/2/storia/ Next we are visiting the Palazzo Vecchio. This is a 3 in 1 ticket that has multiple locations within locations for large museums and 6 smaller ancillary facilities. This is a museum but it also houses the Municipality of Florence. This place is huge. We are booked for a private, guided tour. Here are a couple of links, on the first link, scroll down until you see Palazzon Vecchio with a photo underneath, the second link is a overview, click the individual links on the right panel to see the details of each floor: https://cultura.comune.fi.it/pagina/musei-civici-fiorentini/museo-di-palazzo-vecchio https://cultura.comune.fi.it/pagina/musei-civici-fiorentini-museo-di-palazzo-vecchio/visita-il-museo Next we are visiting the Santa Maria Novella Museum. This includes the municipal areas of the Museum of Santa Maria Novella (Cloister of the Dead, Green Cloister, Cappellone degli Spagnoli, Cappella degli Ubriachi and Refectory), and those managed by the Opera for Santa Maria Novella (Basilica and Cemetery of the Avelli). The magnificent Chiostro Grande, the suggestive northern dormitory and, the Pope's Chapel. Here is a link to their website: https://cultura.comune.fi.it/pagina/musei-civici-fiorentini-santa-maria-novella/visita-il-museo Next is the Stefano Bardini Museum.
