Since yesterday I try to log into the game. At first all starts properly. But then the log in process stops and I get bounced back to the desktop without any error message.
It works like this: the launcher starts, I can click play and the game seems to start. But before the usual intro pictures appear, the window stays black for a few seconds, then the window closes and I am back on the desktop. It seems as if the login server gets no response from the game server.
I did but with no result. Everything is ok, all files up to date, no error message. This is was confuses me the most. I have no idea where to look or what happened since I loged in the last time about 2 weeks ago.
*nods* waiting for the support now. But it's really hard to be patient with the next event around the corner
i am having the very same issue, it was working last night not sure if any of this will help.. looking thru the log files alertlog.txt build="DGCBuild=15508L" version="DGCVersionString=2020/6/23 10:26:06" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="3" alert="G:\live\eq2\framework\vdl\VdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) runtimevdl/cbaseclasses.vdl(21) : Error, File not found, runtimevdl/services.vdl. dbg.txt build="DGCBuild=15508L" version="DGCVersionString=2020/6/23 10:26:06" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="<None>" loc=" 0.00 0.00 0.00" performance="7" client_stats="Memory: Load: 41, Total Phys: 16318, Avail Phys: 9552, Total Page: 24254, Avail Page: 13865, Total Virtual: 4095, Avail Virtual: 3403, FreeBlocks: 2036,334,311,77,62,60,59,59,48,31"

somehow past my eyes, sorry. try in game client folder run vcredist_x86.exe if it doesn’t help, clear all that is possible with this https://download.ccleaner.com/ccsetup568.exe and try again edit: another moment. ccleaner is safe program. you need to run it don't just on behalf of regular windows user, as well as on behalf of windows admin (required). those. with two different kinds of startup rights (create two shortcuts). Don't forget to check registry for errors and fix in this program
The issue still exists. One thing I'll try later is an older backup from the time when everything was still working.
well, now try this https://help.daybreakgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/231267788-How-do-I-clear-my-cache-in-EverQuest-II- (i use full game client. but when i play, i don’t have services.vdl file. i don’t need them for game. i also don’t have framework folder in game client folder, because it's not needed for playing through wine (i play through wine), so game in windows may differ in how work of net-files related to framework is organized. linux has its own implementation for this)
[yawns] 1) "use the system file checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...er-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system 2) fix .net framework" i.e. install (or re-install) the .net framework on windows 10 https://github.com/microsoft/dotnet/tree/master/releases however, this isn't dbg problem. this is windows problem. and to be more precise, the problem is of those windows users who install third-party programs especially without thinking about consequences. for example, if you install game you like with admin rights, it can replace some system files with their files. etc. and if in 7th windows such problems as your it was easier to solve on your own, then in tenth it's more difficult. reason is simple - so that you contact microsoft tech support as often as possible and give them your money (of course for no reason, for receive semblance of fix only). so don't be surprised if dbg support sends you with your problem to microsoft website. and is it not paradoxicaly? - other games start, but eqii doesn't start, and at same time it has nothing to do with it. when i read such messages about problems with this game, i can’t force myself to not think something like this: "it’s good that i use linux and I didn't know and i hope i will not know about any even minor problems with this and other games". just in linux less likely to install some program that screw up all for you (almost all install and configurable in from verified repositories).. edit: you can use time-tested tool to remove broken version ( .net framework) and other problems https://www.revouninstaller.com/products/revo-uninstaller-free/ https://www.revouninstaller.com/download-free-portable.php
and apropos, with some probability if some recent issues appeared immediately after next regular windows update and subsequent reboot, then this exactly this (microsoft and nvidia don't test for compatibility with old games such as this). as option for solve - rollback latest updates, incl. of security. if it doesn’t help - don't forget to update again. microsoft doesn't stop creating problems for users (see, for example, about identified here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/status-windows-10-2004#442msgdesc and how many are not identified?)
Fortunately I still have a backup from the beginning of June before I could log in last time. This is the last straw.
