I have a disease called ME/CFS which has a long history of medical ignorance. In the early 1900s people would be hospitalized for it and it's gone the rounds of all sorts of theories. All theories involve post-infection failure to recover. Sometimes it's called "polio-like" and other times it's called "AIDS without HIV" and other times it's just "lingering fatigue." It's incredibly underfunded so of course we have no answers. The lazy answer to why it's happening is "the person's lazy and just needs to exercise" which has caused kids who have the illness to end up in wheelchairs after they were forced to exercise in a study.

Today we assume it means a person didn't recover from a former infection like a virus. It's a very technical illness and people end up becoming their own doctor. The medical diagnosis is often "fatigue" or "fibromyalgia" but there was a diagnosis that they tried to redefine out of existence, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. Which fits it perfectly. Pain and brain issues. The aftermath of a virus, probably retrovirus, that isn't HIV. I've had three HIV tests, it's definitely not that but it behaves like it somewhat.

This is a description of the active coronavirus: https://nypost.com/2020/03/15/colorado-nurse-with-coronavirus-says-symptoms-escalated-from-sniffles/ I feel like that on a bad day. Especially the part about the one side of the body. I have multiple food allergies. I think my "triggering infection" was from food poisoning that happened 20 years ago. I fought the valiant fight to remain mobile for decades, but I'm mostly chair-bound now. I have remissions where I can cook, clean and shop for myself but I need help most of the time. I can't even shower without someone there because I am often dizzy.

Yet somehow I don't qualify for disability. How about them apples? So far I've lost 8 years of my life and career to this disease. Some have been sick for much longer. Some commit suicide. A woman a couple of years ago qualified for assisted suicide in Switzerland and did that. Another committed suicide just last year. We know because eventually their families publish a tribute to their struggle so people they were in touch with online know she or he is dead.

ME/CFS is the disease you never heard of, until it happens to someone you know. There's supposed to be a rally in the spring, every year. This year it will be completely virtual. We usually have our shoes arranged in public places with notes saying "I wish I was here, I wish I could join you, I wish I could work..." that sort of thing. You might've seen shoes and wondered what was up. Often the people giving speeches or chanting "Please fund ME research" are relatives of those who can't be there.

More from a woman who recovered... I cried when I saw this, it was like the first time I realized I wasn't nuts: She needed surgery to recover. I asked my doctor about her diagnoses and he was completely mystified didn't even know how to get started looking for that. https://medium.com/@jenbrea/health-update-3-my-me-is-in-remission-dd575e650f71

This kind of event in testing and seeking solutions to health issues is so common in the US that I"m hoping one positive outcome of Covid-19 will be to fix our broken system: https://www.politico.com/news/magaz...rus-test-results-covid-19-first-person-130739

When I heard about people having to "qualify" for testing, I was like, yup, been there, done that. I got the same runaround from doctors, both specialists and generalists. We are flying blind and we have been for decades. If you need a reason why, this could be it: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/11/goldman-asks-is-curing-patients-a-sustainable-business-model.html I've hardly ever been made more angry about a news article than that one. It's beyond sick. Truth is stranger than fiction.

Please everyone take care of those around you and believe them if they say they're sick. Call or text your elderly neighbors. This is not a drill.

The TP issue is pretty funny to me, but that's because I've traveled enough to know that TP is a luxury. The typical home has lots of alternatives you can use: http://www.infobarrel.com/Alternatives_to_Toilet_Paper Just don't flush them.

Yes here in Michigan, our schools are all closed too. I also heard the church's are actually closed and alot are doing services over the internet. Our governor just signed a thing to close down all the Gym's and stuff too like Planet Fitness and those kind of places. A lot of people are doing the work at home thing. It normally takes us over an hour to get home in rush hour traffic today we made it in 38 minutes.

First let me say that I'm very sorry what you've been through. It isn't fair but whoever said being disabled in any form is fair lied. I can only say that I hope and pray that, eventually, you will be able to get on disability. As far as the TP thing goes well I find it rather amusing that folks are fighting over it because there other things one can use besides of TP for cleaning up.

I am sorry you are going through such a difficult time, Semperfifofum. As someone battling metastatic cancer, I am all too familiar with the "maintain, don't cure the patient," business model here in the US.

COVID-19, like many things in life, is a curse to most and a blessing to some. Many businesses will fail but some will flourish. For online gaming companies, the virus will probably be a windfall since most schools and colleges are closing and kids are stuck at home with little to keep them occupied except the Internet and gaming.

I don't think gaming companies will be significantly impacted by the virus. They might need one or two people to maintain servers and the physical premises but most of everything else can be done through telecommuting and teleconferencing. And from photos I've seen of the DB staff, none of them look like they are in the most at-risk population unlike many of us who play the game. They might get the virus but chances are the symptoms will be no worse than the flu.

And for those people who play so much they missed the news from China that a pandemic was about to hit the world, you can live without toilet paper. While a little hard on a delicate area, any paper will do the trick. Just throw the used paper in a well-lined trashcan that has a tight-fitting lid. Once a day, take out the liner, tie a knot in the bag, and take it out to the trash bin.

And remember you can also use moist towelettes for the face, body, or for baby's bottom. Like paper, throw them in the trash and not in the toilet.

I'm sure most EU players are vastly amused by the mass panic over toilet paper in the US as the bidet is very popular in many industrialized countries. Amazon still has a decent supply of various types of bidets available for the home and travel if you are afraid you'll run out of toilet paper.

Japan has singing water splashing toilets, but I digress. I do; however, draw the line at ever contemplating, let alone getting one, of a plastic toilet that is clear plastic, with gold fish in it. I simply wouldn't be able to use such a toilet.

I have indeed used a sears catalog to wipe at a great grandparent's house back in the 1950s. And used privies at Scout camp, but we had toilet paper... not so bad as John Wayne Toilet paper, but close.

I'm not explaining that John Wayne Toilet paper. Some of us do know, think of it as a private joke.

I agree that a game company is not going to fix a virus on the loose .. that being said. It's not a bad idea that a double exp. or bonus status week or two be added.
    .
when I am stuck in a negative situation in which the only way out is through .. I look for any positive thing I can do no matter how small. if each person looks for that little positive thing they can do, the impact will be far greater than you realize. the saying 'many hands , makes light the work." is old and tired .. but its not wrong.
    .
I hope the developers and management for eq2 do get together and do a positive thing .

With all the issues still remaining in Luclin now almost 4 months after release I dont think they can even find the double XP/Status button.

And now they gotta start working on the expansion if they wanna make the november/december deadline, how that is possible ill never know.

They usually do something. I still have the glowy item they sold in the store as a charity item to help efforts to feed/clothe the people who had to flee their homes after the Fukushima disaster. One of my fav house items ever because it has meaning.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I feel like I've stepped into the Twilight zone medically. I still believe I"m going to kick this.

To me, and I learned this in the Navy, was it was full of wood chips and doesn't take bleep off of anyone.
  14. Avithax Well-Known Member

I don't need double xp or coins. I would just be happy with no lag, no zoning delay and 99% working content like it used to be.
  15. Avithax Well-Known Member

    Things will probably work better.

here where I live we are under what is called "Shelter at Home" meaning we are not to go out except for essentials, food, medical, taking walks with pets or otherwise as long as you keep distance from others doing it. and yes the walks were specifically listed in the essentials.

Didn't say I use the that brand. Nor used it, but I am unfamiliar if perchance, I exist in some form in other dimensions. That me over yonder might use it.
