IIRC it's your auto-Attack when it's set to do fire dmg.

That would be auto attack, yes
  4. Semperfifofum Well-Known Member

Perhaps ACT is showing the old name for firey annihilation: https://www.everquest2.com/news/imported-eq2-enus-3296

However, Firey Annihilation is listed. But then, so is pierce and crush (which could be dagger and ranged weapon).

So maybe it's the autoattack type of your pet (s).
  5. Rubick Well-Known Member

Nope. It's his auto attack set to fire damage.

Ok, then what is pierce and crush? pet dmg?

Burn is auto attack damage if the creature's auto attack damage type is set to heat.

    That's not what this is.

This appears to be what happens when a Scorched Earth is slated to double attack, but the original hit kills the training dummy. Here are some logs examples. In this particular four minute fight, I got 12 examples of "burn" in my logs. I was auto attacking the whole time, and it shows up as crush, which is correct. The highlighted log lines are the ones I believe are registering as "burn". Here are excepts from the second when each burn was recorded:

    Example 1:

It goes on like that. Instances of "burn" completely stop once Scorched Earth expires. They begin again when I cast Scorched Earth the second time. I think this is just ACT not getting good information from the server. The server isn't sending out the proper spell name for Scorched Earth, and ACT doesn't know how to deal with it, so it goes down as "burn".

Those training dummies could use like . . . a hundred or so times the HP they have.

You're saying that your damage is showing as burn? Do you have an example of that? Is it a buff from the ascension class that changes all your damage to heat damage? That would make your auto attack show as burn.
  11. Lucus Well-Known Member

if he has infused his weapon(s) with the heat infusion it will show autoattack as burn on his parse just as it would show up as freeze if he used a cold infusion.
  12. Semperfifofum Well-Known Member

Well if it was infusion, wouldn't the pierce and crush not show up in the parse?

    Ref: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...e-type-infusion-question.566026/#post-6289343

Though that may have changed by now. Now that you mentioned it, freeze also shows in that parse. Although it's 0% that doesn't mean it is zero. It could be 10 damage in comparison to 3 billion = 0%.

They did cast a lot of "dumbfire" pets firey sorcerer, aqueous swarm, etc... which is why I thought it could be one of them, but idk. Possibly the earthen avatar is crushing damage. I'm not sure if pets damage gets changed along with yours while you're an Elementalist.

I am saying that the underlined / bolded lines are damage that ACT is reporting as "burn". It's always the second hit of Scorched Earth. Notice how the damage is exactly the same as the preceding hit of Scorched Earth? For some reason, the server isn't returning that second hit as Scorched Earth, the server is returning it as heat damage only, no spell name attached. Thus, ACT doesn't really know what to do with it except call it "burn".

    See what I mean?
  14. Observing Active Member

Yes, I have noticed this for months on a Necromancer, with "disease" hits. It is always exactly the same damage as another ability that just doublecast. I have my weapon poison-imbued, so it is not auto-attack, as that shows up as another line.
It can be as much as 10% of a parse.

^As Observing said, this is something that's been happening for about a year now... and makes testing stuff a lil... painful as EVERYTHING that's DoT and doublecasts has a chance of just showing up as the same amount of damage as the initial hit but as "insert damage type here." The bug is unique in the sense that it only happens on Training Dummies and the summoned enemies from the creature conjuror.
  16. Daryl Member

Note: I've tested this before with no weapon at all equipped and auto attack turned off, and even then, it shows that my auto attack is going off, but hitting for as much as, say Revocation of Life's DoT tick... Now I ate my wheaties, but I don't think thats right for an auto attack :p
  17. Sykle I use too many words sometimes.

its because of the heal component when training dummies "die" when they are set to immortal. its just creating the doublecasted dot hits as burn/zap/confound.. etc if they continue to hit after the training dummy has died once to the said damage ability. its been going on since KA beta. i sent several bug reports in over the course of the expansion, but i dont think that they have time to think about training dummies when they are trying to develope an expansion 90hrs a week.

I honestly don't know the in's and out's of coding, but shouldn't it be possible to just adjust the hp value to something like, say a T3 or 4 current content raid mob? That should be a quick patch-up for the situation without requiring too much.

    Couple more ideas,

Or just some insanely large number we won't reach until 10 years go by, but that may be a problem with maximums on coded numbers. I'm way behind in coding tech anymore.

If the dummy were upgraded like that, it would be fun to get a group of people in a GH or something and all attack a dummy at once. Or do what another *ahem* game does and put the dummies with infinite health in cities so we can all play pinyata and guild leaders can decide who they want to woo onto their raid team by just running ACT and watching.

Or, maybe the dummy could instantly heal any damage, so that it never dies..

Dummies have a lot of value to players. Even if I'm not raiding, I still want to be able to test my abilities. Without a trusted baseline, it's hard to see yourself improve.

Yards is the one with the correct answer. Any time you kill a training dummy the excess damage from the killing blow is counted as whatever damage TYPE you kill it with. If you killed it with heat damage it shows up as burn auto attack damage. If you killed it with Noxious damage is usually shows up as disease auto attack damage.
