Producer's Letter Discussion Thread

Today marked the announced of the next EverQuest 2 expansion, Kunark Ascending! If you missed Holly's letter you can find it here, but we'd love to hear your feedback!


Greetings citizens of Norrath!

Fall is on the doorstep! What does that mean? Expansion news, of course!

We have some epic adventures in store this year as we delve into undiscovered areas of a familiar continent in our thirteenth expansion, EverQuest II: Kunark Ascending! Quite a bit of time has passed since we have explored Kunark’s secrets and there are some great stories to be told and adventures to be had. Danger awaits you in the Crypt of Dalnir, Kaesora, Warslik’s Wood and more!

Here’s a small peek of one of the new NPCs that will be in this expansion!

The launch of EverQuest II: Kunark Ascending is scheduled for November. We’ll have a lot more to share with you regarding EverQuest II: Kunark Ascending in October when we start talking about expansion features, open up pre-orders, and make beta available.

In addition to working on the expansion all year, launching Game Updates 100 and 101, Progression Servers, and event server updates, the team has also put together a beta for some new PvP Battlegrounds content that you’ll see in early September. More news coming next week on Battlegrounds!

And, to take the leap into the leaves of fall, we are running a series of promotions from September through to the expansion launch:

• This weekend, members get 40% off in-store purchases from September 1st 12PM PDT through September 6th 12PM PDT. At the same time we’ll be serving up Double XP for EVERYONE!
• EverQuest II: Terrors of Thalumbra will also be on sale at 50% off from September 1st 12PM PDT through October 5th 12PM PDT. Note that the option to purchase the Collector’s or Premium Edition of EverQuest II: Terrors of Thalumbra that comes with unique bonus items won’t be available after pre-orders for EverQuest II: Kunark Ascending begins in October.
• To help you get your characters prepared for our next expansion, we are going to run another weeks-long “Gear Up, Level Up” event this year. There will be bonuses each week in October through to expansion launch, like adventure, AA, tradeskill XP bonuses, status boosts, and more!

Kunark then? Interesting. Are you going to add new content to the original maps, instanced dungeons....or will it be Kunark revisited in another map? I like the idea of new content in old maps, btw. Kunark being a personal favorite for many years.

From what I read in the letter, it sounds like they are adding on to what is already there, which is great imo.

While I'm looking forward to seeing new stuff in Kunark, I'm actually more curious about the "Box Features" Kander has mentioned as being awesome.

Look at the tongue on that NPC! Such a pity its too ugly for us to be "friends" *said with a mischevious giggle as I slip into the shadows*

Just a little hint from producer's letter and I'm already cleaning up bags and making sure alts that I dumped stuff on get cracking on cleaning their bags too So much to do before expansion!

Hoping we might see the ruins of Cabilis as a zone/dungeon, as there was an entrance from Warslik's Woods in EQ iirc.

I'm sorry, but historically all the Producer's Letters were in the News and Announcements, and were always open for discussion.

That's also just a default maya playblast. They look even better in game. More of a dark blue.

I honestly don't think we're gonna get more info than the title at this time. I'm sure there was a tug of war somewhere between people on what they could say in the letter and what not to say.

I don't have any characters at adventure level 100 yet. My highest is around 96. I've not done a thing in the last expansion yet. I was hoping there would be some content I could do in it. If not, I understand them concentrating on max level content just wishful thinking on my part.

Does anyone have suggestions on the quickest, least painful way to get characters from 95 to 100?

Guild writs is what I do. Run the writs to lvl 100 in Tranquil Sea, gear up, then start the ToT questlines. I've done the AoM quest line once. But for alts, the writs are a lot more effective.

1. More work being done on the dungeon finder other than adding more agnostic versions of old dungeons?
2. PQ's?
3. New epic weapons?
4. New AA's?
5. Significant changes to help with raid lag? (I know its not purely xpac related)

Will there be a PreExpansion World event this year?
