There is no evidence that there will not be an expansion this year as they haven't put out any expansion news this early in the year in a while.

It's a money grab? What the hell do you think they're in business for?

The world is still in the middle of a global pandemic. In the US alone, there are millions of people who are still out of work/looking for work. For a lot of people who are quarrantined, things like video games are a lifeline to keep their sanity. People are struggling to make ends meet.

And THIS is the year they decide to do a money grab on the expansions? OK, sure...whatever.

    1. It's kind of perverse to link the pandemic to a video game sale.

    2. Don't you think the company and their employees have their own bills to pay?

That's usually what I did. Spending an extra $100 for some ingame items is a little steep for me, getting them for $50 is usually justifiable. Between the Friends and Family making most of those items available ingame already and now it's $75 extra instead of the $50 extra it usually drops to, I'll be passing on upgrading this year.

I think 40% would of worked, dropping the discount to 25% is pretty steep though. I have a feeling this will cost them more in sales than they make back from the higher price.

lets face it the next expansion will be lvl 115 also so if you can wait then wait but that expansion might be a higher cost then last year also.

Oh wait! I forgot. They are in business to cater to the bot teams and uber boxers. Those players already have three to six expansions purchased. What was I thinking?

At this rate, they won't be in business for long. The Everquest player base is dwindling. Yeah, people come back from time to time, but the price keeps going up for less and less new content, and now this.

It is simple market mechanics; price a product too high, and the demand remains low. Since they have no clue how to run the DBG store efficiently, they can't rely on sales from FTP accounts either.

    1. Yes it is, so why did they do it?

    2. Sure, but I think this will backfire.

You're clearly a marketing genius! You should apply for the position when it comes up.

If they did 50% off I would of already bought it. Now I keep doing double-takes at it, looking at the price begrudgingly, then looking away, then getting distracted. It's not my fault!

It's a free market. If you have such a negative outlook of EQ over a single discount, it may be time to go elsewhere.

This year's sale is probably limited because (1) it includes a Heroic Character (3500 DBC or $35 value), (2) they need to keep up with inflation or meet a quota, and (3) people were "gaming the system" (to upgrade to higher tiers for cosmetics) for years.

Daybreak had granted free Heroic Characters for All Access members this year.

Daybreak employees also pay mortgages and bring food to the table for their families. It's not like they are actively taking our money and splurging it on frivolous activities.

Daybreak relies on our funds to keep the game's lights on. (The thread on Pantheon highlights that some people are dropping tens of thousands of dollars on vaporware).

After troubleshooting on another thread about this thread, it has been determined that your sig's have issues causing this thread to show Not Secure.
Using Google Chrome, right clicking your sig and choosing inspect, it shows http on both the URL's for your sig's.

Can you just change your signature URL from http to https so it will work fine and not give the "Not Secure" warning I am getting when visiting this thread. Thanks ;)

Anyone else, please do the same.
  15. CatsPaws I don't like titles

I have never gotten any kind of a "not secure" warning on these forums. Glad you got yours figured out but if it was happening for the rest of us then something would have been posted by now. Am wondering how many will change just for you? ;) I see https already when I go to his sig.

Edit tried to say that nicely.
  16. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Well something in this thread is causing it because I see that as well here but not for the rest of the forums.

It's called a 302 redirect (not sure why they aren't using a 301 at Magelo, but /shrug). When you go to the address, it will redirect you to the address automatically.

My links are changed, though it's not the links. It's the image that Magelo loads when you link to their page. Every thread that has a Magelo link, is loading the image from non SSL source.

    I emailed Magelo, thank you.

    Odd though, Sokki above :

    ..his magelo png is https.

I have a suspicion that Darkpaw won't be in a position to release a new expansion by Christmas. Besides the server farm move, they mentioned that covid-19, work from home, slowed them down. And let's face it, each year it seemed like they were struggling to get an expansion out by Christmas. So they may need for TOV to cover their expansions even longer this year with a new expansion not coming out. They could still do a prequel to the expansion (maybe one new zone) before Christmas to bring in some money, possibly.

Only Art seems to have been possibly impacted, the rests workflow seems to be suggested to be similar or better (according to their AMA in Discord)

Losing Prathun on the Design side and a Coder will prob be the biggest losses in terms of productivity for it
