Wizards missing ranks of Destructive Fury in Call of the Forsaken

Wizards seem to be left out of gaining additional ranks of this AA in the Call of the Forsaken expansion. It is at this point that nearly every other class that can cast nukes surpasses the Wizard in terms of the power of this AA.

Two of the things differentiate the Wizard class from other spell casting classes that nuke was the fact that Wizards always had a higher base crit rate and a higher Crit damage modifier. By the time the game hits The Darkened Sea on TLPs, Wizards are behind in both these areas. Mages and druids and even enchanters have a higher base crit rate and a higher critical damage modifier.

I realize that the Wizard familiar helps to make up for the fact that our crit damage modifier has fallen behind, but I am wondering if this was something that was overlooked during the development in that era, or if this was intentional.

The recent changes to Wizards with the launch of the newest expansion Laurions Song have helped to again differentiate Wizards by raising their base crit rate and critical damage modifier to be higher than all other classes. If the intent is to make Wizards more viable across eras where they are lacking, I think taking a look at the missing Destructive Fury ranks for Call of the Forsaken should be considered.

No they arent missing. Sorry, that's just how Wizards are performing in CoTF, they aren't going to go back and retune an expansion.

    Fenthen likes this.
  3. Fenthen Well, that's that...

This is feedback from an expansion 11 years ago. It is not a bug.

Wizards actually had a worse crit rate modifier from Fury of Magic for the longest time. The recent revamp finally changed that. But given how they (a) kept the number of ranks in the wizard line and (b) kinda mushed everyone else, there was going to be a point where other classes got better ... then wizards become the best.

Would I have done it that way? No. But they seem to be reluctant to change the number of ranks and the amount of aas wizards invest in Fury of Magic (there have been two revamps recent ... and both times, they refused to touch the number of ranks).

Destructive Fury is the same way. Kinda even more a mess than FoM.

It's not a bug. Clearly for something to be so convoluted has to be intentional. At least our crit damage modifier is higher than dot classes now (Destructive Cascade is 420 max vs wizard FoM 430 now).

You can ask for in era changes as feedback. I think you're going to get a big ball of silence. They are probably done with wizards and moving on to melee (as they should)
