Will we see you this summer at SOE Live?

Who else remembers they heyday of Everquest? Four FF's in 2001 and 2002 scattered all over the country. Those were the days. Gotta wonder if some day it will be held in San Diego, when even the bus is too expensive . . .

Vegas location gets re-hashed every year, but I just wish the timing was a bit more seasonal. You know it's all about taking summer vacations to the desert. Nothing like being hungover with 114 degrees of sun beating on your face.

Chicago was the only one I was able to drive to, but that Halloween '04 New Orleans FF was a blast.

It would be nice if some sort of event could be held in Canada, not a fan fair per say. But some type of SoE event, Sony has an office in the Greater Toronto Area. Some Dev time could be done via skype or another multimedia application. Show us some love in Canada SoE!

Dealing with international laws and the fact that it would require everyone that SOE sent to have a passport not to mention the normal US crowd that goes would make it very hard to pull off an international event.

I think something more along Bigz's train of thought even is tagging onto the SoE Live with other offices having a big celebration during one of the events, using webcam and invite local folks to show up and celebrate with them. So for example, the SoE office in Toronto could have a mini meeting timed to match up with something SoE was doing - and at a keynote speech, each of those 3 screens behind the stage could have different offices webcammed in so they could see those of us at SoE Live and we can see those at the satellite offices.

I'm going to attend this event. I've always wondered what it would be like to meet other players and the creators of EQ.

You are correct sir, hence my asking for some sort of event, not a fan fair.. SoE has employes in canada already that can run it.. and as i mentioned dev time can be done via skype or some other type of simmilar platform.. we just want some love too here in the great white north.

If you really want to get back to the heydey of Everquest FF's, then you (generic You, as in Some players) need to take the initiative and set it up. Granted I wasn't attending Fan Faires, or even paying much attention to the social aspect around EQ at the time, but I believe I've heard the first Fan Faires were started by the players for the players, and SOE folk got invited. Since then, SOE's taken them over for various reasons.

So if you want to really get the FF's back to their roots, and in a location other than Vegas and/or San Diego, step up to the plate and book a conference room in the city of your choice, publicize it and see who might want to show up.

there we go let's make everyoen work for it, and ahve a nice tropical holiday. let's have fan faire in Guam lol. no passports needed from the US if you go through hawaii instead of japan (need birth certificate) 13degrees off the equator, if the zombie apocalypse happens we'll all be safe and can live happily ever after, even rabies doesnt exist ther ! lol. and will be close to the aussies and asian players as well.

I'm going to check to see if SOE will send me out for a week somewhere tropical to scout for potential convention spaces.

Not sure yet if I go again this year. With some of the latest announcements it could be interesting though, just the flight costs and then August in Vegas... we shall see.

Nope. Won't see me there. Not travelling across the country for that, regardless of how much cheaper or whatever it may be for everyone involved. *shrugs*

Is registration ever going to open? It's been Spring for a whole month now. Any heads up on when we can expect that to start?

Never understood why people would want to go to 100F zones in summer.

Fan Faire has in the past been held in Boston, Baltimore, New Orleans and a couple of other places than Las Vegas.
They also had a Everquest tour bus that met with folks in various towns.

As Augur stated "Wasn't aware that SoELive was about you guys...I was always under the assumption that it was about "the players that have kept this game going for this long", guess I'm wrong. Also, you can't think of another city because you guys haven't left SoCal or Vegas~ Every Major city has venues for these "

I live in Las Vegas, and even I am sick of it being here. How about leaving your 100 computers home and just bringing the devs to a new city. I have a feeling most of the people posting want to meet the people they play with, the devs, and talk EQ, and would be more than willing to give up a contest or two.

The timing for the SOE Live is tough. I also agree, Vegas during the height of Summer is maybe not the ideal. I'd love to see Spring Break Fan Faire here in Miami.
