Why do so many zones in Luclin have bad exp modifiers and can this be changed?

I really did enjoy the shroud missions that came along with that expansion though, and the gear was ok without too much raid difficulty. Changing Freeport was so so so so so so sad. I am sad thinking about not being able to go back to old Freeport. On Drinal before Luclin a lot of people sold goods in north Freeport and hung out in the sewers if they were evil.

    So sad.

But with Mischief being a FV loot rule server, those shroud missions suddenly become really worthwhile to do. The gear from them is something else, sometimes lacking level req's.

LoY literally the most slept on expac.

It really wasn't a full expansion, though, was it? PoR or DoN get the honors of worst expansion.

Don't know why DON gets a bad reputation. Many fond memories of that expansion.

TDS, EoK, RoS all way worse than POR or DON and it's not close. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can get worse than the hail this NPC 28 times followed by hail this npc 23 times. Heck, OG Kunark is super overrated and people just put the rose colored nostalgia glasses on for it. In reality, it was trash. Epics saved that expansion entirely.

I only played those through one time on Phinny. Never played them on Live. I didn't hate EoK and RoS but it was clear they should have launched as one expansion. I suspect RoS was a way for the dev team to buy a year.

What? Luclin was great. Opens up leveling a ton. Raid variety was great. And finally AAs start to fill gaps in classes.

I'd say only complaint was VT trash, but not a big deal on TLPs.

VT Trash was the only time "power creep" made the game feel a lot better than it did originally, at least for my money.

I liked DoN it was too small but overall I agree it gets a bad rap unfairly.

I liked TDS (aside of the stupid quest dialogue BS anyway) the raid events had some decent design.

PoR I disliked for not just the Ayonae Ro fight but also the whole design of devastation/sverag meaning another guild could completely lock you out if they were so inclined, the flagging mission where 1 player had to sit on their butt doing nada, beating on that #£$@ door was stupid too.

I thought EoK was great, RoS was flat out annoying as hell in places (Cacti & Cats ignoring merc tanks completely in the first zone, aerial bombardment crap in Skyfire) - I would have preferred if the two had introduced a couple more unique zones but meh, team size etc.

RoK was great at the time and I think it is hard to judge it fairly after having seen so many other expansions, what I liked about it was the whole expansion had a cohesive theme running through it and a huge amount of historical references woven into it, it felt like a place with a deep past and I think Kevin McPherson (who wrote it as a D&D campaign originally) had put a lot of thought into that that came across really well with the expansion. The art in that expansion for the time was really good too.

Yes, it was small, but I don't think it really was meant to be a large expansion. I think it was to help give devs some extra time for the larger DoDh.
TDS had loads of potential. I was expecting some of the raids to mimic the group missions. Thuliasaur Island was a very cool zone with fun quests. I'm saddened the raids were limited to the monochromatic and annoyingly maze like Arx Mentis. Most of the events were incredibly caster bias to the point where it was almost useless being a melee. I also didn't like it was just a glorified Sanctus Seru, fighting a bunch of bland playable races and or their "creations." The fact it only had 5 real events (2 1-shot events) was just the icing on the cake of s***t that raid zone was.

PoR had its flaws, for sure. I never had issue with guilds locking me out so it's nice hearing different perspectives. The whole progression of PoR was very spiderweb like for me and to this day is not very clear. Granted I haven't done it since it came out in 05/06? I forget the exact year.

I thought the the zones were interesting and the raids had some fun mechanics. You'll always find some duds like ARo, but overall I think it was a very underrated expansion.

I hate ROS with a passion. Nothing about that was fun. The "end game" was tier 2. The final fight was an absolute joke. There was only a single zone I liked killing in.

EOK was equally as bad, if not worse for me. There was absolutely nothing redeeming about it. It was the only expansion since VOA that took me nearly the entire year to finish everything off because I just had no ambition to log in and do anything in those zones. The green sarnak were just absolute annoyances until progression was done. The zone designs were just bland remakes or just uninspiring designs.

I think one of the many reasons I didn't like ROS/EOK was because I never really cared for Kunark. The design and world immersion in Kunark was good. However, the lack of well designed raids, items (I'm looking at you VP gear), and overall high end group areas really hurt it. Most of Kunark was mid level content. Very few zones contained 50+ content.

LDoN may not have been the best play experience expansion, but augmentations, non-inventoried alt currency and instanced zones were all massive for the future development of the game.

LDoN I liked a lot, until I played it so much I made myself sick to death of it.
Had the points been a little more generous & the Adventure Stone Required a little less grinding it might have been perfect, but some folks liked it just as it was.

The raids on release were mostly terrible though, thankfully most of the worst bugs got fixed later on so TLP had a better time with them.
While they had some cool gimmick items in them and a few powerful augments overall they felt under itemized in volume & quality.

Ssra has better exp hits then Griegs on more modern servers, griegs is just stupid simple and people are lazy.
  13. yerm Augur

Ssra mobs are considerably stronger and most summon. The only place with competitive xp to griegs is farming skeletons in the mines. You can't just look at a zem chart and say wowee ssra has great xp! No. It's not. Griegs mobs hit weaker, die faster, pull easily, and don't summon. You can also mount.

I'd be pleased if that was the average. My ranger on Rizlona is currently at 5 days, 14 hrs and is only level 55. Granted, I started him after velious and have long since stopped playing eq as if it was a second job.
  15. Montag Augur

They should just bump them all up to whatever the current max is and tweak it a bit later if they need to. Current ZEMs ensure most zones are never used.

I think the thing that I disliked about them the most was it was the beginning of the 'lets give trash mobs stupid high HP and zero loot' era that we in now.

"Hey, what if trash required a healer *and* a slower?"

    "omg thats genius!"
