Why stop at 5? Make it 6. I think that's the next merc suggestion.
Pay for a sub, log in, and have a birds eye view of your SK-Shaman-Bard-Rogue-Rogue-Rogue merc group playing the game for you.

We'll call it the Spectator package! Guaranteed to have at least 50 hours played in the first 4 expansions. 75 hours per expansion in the next 4. 100 hours played per expansionfl for the next 6. 150 hours per for the next 6 expansions. All the way up to live!

Move over Netflix! EQ has the next hottest streaming service. Coming your way summer of 2025!

Where ever there's adventure to be found,
Just a clue or a secret message bring the Famous Five around,
When ever there's a mystery to be solved,
    Up in the ruined castle,
    or down in Smugglers Cove.

    We are the Famous Five,
Warrior, Rogue and Cleric, Bard and Shaman the dog,
    We are the Famous Five,
    We're coming back to you,
    When ever there's time,
    Time after time.

Shaman are a support class? While a shaman does provide good support and adps if that is all they are doing in a group they are missing out on a lot as a shaman can main heal or provide decent dps.

It's Iven, he has a unique view on class roles and abilities.

My view is very close to the official one. Support classes do officially exist since 1999 and earlier. The rogue was meant to be a support class instead of DPS (attacker). Healers do sometimes also get called support classes and the shaman can support a group at most from all three healer classes beside it's healing abilities. The different types are not clearly defined.

From EverQuest Developer's Log August 2024:
    The official class types are:
    • Tank
    • Attacker
    • Healer
    • Support
I am curious which classes do get defined as support classes by the devs. I guess that the bard and enchanter classes are one of them, maybe even the only ones. Maybe not the shaman, even that is has much support to offer, but the focus is more on healing.

My own definition of support abilities can be found here. Each class does have some of them.

The abilities you mention in your other post are something many classes can offer but no class focuses on them as their main role. They all focus on one of more of the main roles of DPS, Healing, or Tanking, just because they bring added support to the group and doesn't mean they are classified as a support class.

This was mentioned already and he actively fought against the simple fact.
