When will the next TLP server be released?

How is oakwynd more krono driven then a server that lets you buy almost any item in the game and you can purchase pretty much any current raid item you want?

You did not read the post did you?

I said "in my opinion" and I based that opinion on the fact that everyone I have talked to in game rolled oakwynd specifically to farm krono.

By contrast everyone I talked to on Mischief is there to enjoy the content and are having fun being able to freely trade their gear to alts to experiment.

Again and for the final time for people who don't understand this : less gear available makes the gear more valuable, by that logic mischief has the cheapest gear of any server.

One final note is your comment on "you can purchase pretty much any current raid item you want", just because you are able to because the gear is tradable, doesn't mean that's what's happening. People are getting BIS items and holding them, usually what you can find is stuff from the last 2 expansions. Furthermore many guilds are recruiting and giving gear away for free the server is running over with gear.

Hell we have recruits that join off night raids and walk away with 1-2 krono worth of gear FOR FREE.

Let me know when that's happening on Oakwynd.

Oh wait it won't, because the gear will rot like on every other boring no trade server.

Wish Daybreak would release 2x TLPs like in previous years - each with different rule sets.

Releasing only 1 TLP with a controversial ruleset is too divisive.
  4. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Yes, I read your post which is why I asked how can Oakwynd be driven by krono then a server that is designed for raid loot to be sold and people use krono to do it?
  5. eqfanforlife Elder

    I explained my reasoning.

The more you talk, the more it seems like you are just mad that more people have access to the best gear, like you want to be one of the elite few that have the items first.

By the way I haven't ever spent a single krono on any BIS item on mischief.

I don't care if people purchase the loot on those servers as it has no impact on me at all. I don't play on a free trade server and loot from a free trade can't transfer to a non free trade server.

There is a reason why krono goes sells for more on a free trade server then a non free trade server and that is the importance that it serves there.
  7. eqfanforlife Elder

I have a hard time believing that you don't care when it seems like anytime mischief is mentioned or free trade you have to comment on it, and it's always a negative comment against free trade.

On your second comment: currently FV and Bristlebane both have kronos on barter for 2 million, so you are either misinformed or lying, and if you are trying to make a point here I'm struggling to find it.
  8. Yinla Ye Ol' Dragon

TLP servers have a fair few who will only play to gain Kronos cheap to use on their accounts. I know of a couple in my old guild who would go and make PP porting people around and spend that on Kronos.

They don't necessarily go to sell loot. New servers are the fastest way to make Kronos while they are going cheap amd making PP is easy.
  9. Waring_McMarrin Augur

Because I don't agree with you on Oakwynd being the most krono driven server?

Also last I checked there is no live server that sells krono for such a cheek price and FV is the most expensive at approaching 10M if it hasn't broken that yet) and for the record most sales happen outside of barter/bazaar as that 2 million is the limit for those systems and not what they actually go for.
  10. Waring_McMarrin Augur

And the people that want to make it in large quantity's will be playing it on a free trade server where they can sell more items for a high price.

The Krono thing on Oakwynd is really bad or really good depending only on your position. Someone was selling a Staff of Elemental Mastery Water for 6 Krono IIRC for example.

If you are into game immersion this is a bad thing
If you like to solo it is a good thing

If you think the only thing that counts is earned it is a bad thing
If you have more money then spare time it is a good thing

And so it goes for a 100 other comparisons. I've had a great time on Oakwynd. Lots of interesting people, good fun. First TLP I've invested serious time in since Rizlona introduction. But Rizlona got a Loyalty Merchant! I'd blown a large fortune in pp doing every trade. I'm kind of naturally against RMT as they seem to encourage bad behavior. I'm not sure it is a net positive for DB, but I hope it is. Someone in chat on Oakwynd said ~I'm level 50 and no guild will want someone that isn't level 55 by the weekend. Lot's of rabid leveling and raiding fans there. Lot's of Krono Farmers. Not a lot of casuals. I'm glad people found exactly what they are seeking. I wish them well. I may even spend some more time there.

I did have the thought creating the same named characters on every new TLP was probably a bad idea. I've been doing it so long I'm sure I am losing names on my charactersx or characterxy to myself. I'm going to spend less time on Oakwynd and go back to Rizlona mostly. Looking forward to next TLP in maybe 9 months.

Even if what you said is true do you know how long it takes to farm 10m plat on FV?

    A while.

Meanwhile on oakwynd you can get max level and start farming krono in 2 weeks or less.

So smart guy where do you think the krono lords will flock to?
  13. Waring_McMarrin Augur

What is happening on Oakwynd is what happens on every TLP server at that stage in the servers life. It isn't unique to Oakwynd and it will happen on the server that gets released next year as well.

That being said what I was referring to was Mischief as it is a much better server for long term sales as almost everything is tradeable and there is lots of incentive to buy/sell raid gear.

So even though you admit that everyone flocks to the new server for quick and easy krono you still want to claim that Mischief is the more krono driven server?

Literally by your own logic any new server is the most krono driven server.

Thanks for finally agreeing with me.
  15. Rijacki Just a rare RPer on FV and Oakwynd

Yes, there are raid guilds rabidly leveling just to spend 7 weeks repeating the same raids over and over until Luclin launches. How is that different from any other TLP that opened with Classic? Why is that painted as a "Oakwynd only" issue?

But, there are also a lot of players oh Oakwynd who are casually going through the content. Some originally joined EQ in later expansions and want to see the start. Some played early and left and now want to see the progression though the expansions. Some are coming from P99 wanting to experience the DB version of the game and then the expansions they haven't seen. Some are entirely brand new to EQ.

I'm in a casual-community guild and we're still getting 2-3 or more new members every single day. New players, not just new alts. The membership of the guild ranges from level 1 to level 55+ (I haven't looked at the roster this morning so I don't know if we have an 60s yet). Yes, there are some in the guild who trade Kronos either to get plat for tradeskills or to cover their subscriptions (and some of those trades are entirely within the guild). I didn't quite hit 50 before Kunark launched but still group with others every week, mostly guildies but also mixed groups, too. I have never bought or sold a Krono nor have most in my guild, but most aren't looking for a race. Those who are 55+ already want to max their main and then go to having fun with their alts. Some even switched their alt/main in Classic because of the fun they were having on a character class they hadn't played before.

Those proclaiming Oakwynd dead or only for Krono-lords are likely only looking at a single playstyle and not the entire server. They don't want to accept there can be players that don't ascribe to the 'only' playstyle they venerate. Oakwynd is not a failure or dead on arrival for those who are enjoying playing there and for those that actually appreciate the ruleset of the server including the FTE. And, those players DO matter. They pay the same money to play on a TLP as those who are racing to raid the same content for 7 weeks for the umpteenth time.

No, I am saying that being the new/most recent TLP server doesn't make it the most krono driven server.

I thought it was common knowledge that some players join new TLPs to farm Kronos and leave around Kunark so they can bring kronos back to their main server. I had met a few players on Yelinak and Oakwynd who admitted to using this strategy. I'm sure others do it too.

A krono costs 300pp to 1000 pp during the first week or so on a new tlp. You can easily make that much on your journey from 1-50. I made 30+ krono on Yelinak in classic with nothing to spend it on because I paid for my subscription with a credit card.

Too many players in this game have a bad case of the Poor Me's. I can't find a group. No guild wants me. There are too many boxers. AOE groups ruin my day. Players steal my camps.

It isn't very hard to market yourself in game. You have levels 1-50 in classic to build up a good reputation, so your friend's list should be loaded with potential group mates.

    Join server
    Put /LFG on
    Wait 10 minutes
    No tells?
    Message friends on friend's list
Ask to be added to camp lists
    Still waiting?
Farm some items, work through some quests, chat with some players, etc
    Join a group eventually

I've seen some very bad players get into guilds, so no one should ever be left out unless their personality stinks. Most guilds are very good at helping other guildies out. Think about it. An epic spawn has popped, and you obviously need helping killing it. You helped Player X out in the past. Player X will repay the favour. It's a win win for everyone.

Behind every boxer is a person. I have had a lot of boxers drop a box for me to join, or we worked out a deal where I can take X mobs and they'll take the rest. All it takes is a single tell to get the conversation moving forward.

AOE groups are annoying with their main channel spam, but it is such a small annoyance that it is so easy to ignore. Is EQ Corp in the pick? Yes! Find a different pick.

A player just stole your mobs. Norrath is such a large world that you should never run out of stuff to do. A 6 boxer on Oakwynd tried to bully me out of a zone as a solo account (I hadn't set up a box on the server). Guess where my fun was planted for the next two hours? Sure he got a lot of mobs, but I took a good chunk too.

Oakywnd is a great server especially for players who are looking for a relaxing playstyle. If you can get a few 60's before PoP, you'll be swimming in alts. I can honestly say that I only met one rude person on Oakwynd. The server isn't for me.

Sorry, CodeZero, but I love meeeeeeeee some trains! Choooo-choooo! My cleric just showed up in the zone to rez everyone for a price! :D Chaotic EVIL!

1: They are like a pig passing through a snake. I've been doing the TLP thing since it started. I did take a 3 year break while I was 90% on Rizlona. It's only my opinion but I think it is shared: The leveling contest, first to down raid targets, Krono farming, has evolved faster & larger then all other aspects of the game. Having been on the first TLP and Rizlona, neither of them had the level of Krono farming we see today so they were different.

2: That's me mostly-sorta. I like to run a couple of characters even on the same accounts rather then focus on a the first to [10, 20, ...]. There are strategic reasons for doing this that relate to game play.

3: I've run into a lot that say they are coming back after a 10-20 year lay off too.

4: How do you check to see they aren't just alternates? So far new players joining a server has dropped off on everything except maybe FV.

5: I'm not sure Oakwynd will have the same long term appeal. Seems to be a subset of people who want to play on a True Box server and just as many people who ignore the convention. I didn't mention server life in my post, but I think this divergent base is not good for long term survival. Kind of like a sports league with PEDs and naturals. That's not to say the server is not a success, just that TLP are probably money makers in the short term for DB and with server merges they eventually don't cost extra<I think?>. FV has faster leveling and free trade which is what a lot of players want, Oakwynd I'm not sure.

I do a lot of drive by's. One of my favorite things in game is snaring or rooting a MOB that is killing a PC. FTE doesn't let me do that. I can still heal or buff the PC, but the MOB is off limits. I've been a bit of game hog on Oakwynd. I let runners go, and they let me camp in a fixed area while they bring the rest of the dungeon to my character. This means I pretty much hog the spawn as no one else can get access to those MOBs. I suspect this mechanic will gain popularity and make the game a little less newbie friendly as more people do it. You won't have enough people in a dungeon for a pick to be created, one high level character leveling a lowbie, so there's a few things that have to happen to FTE before it gets a seal of approval from me anyway. It has its good aspects, just a couple of down sides.

I started playing around July 1st. I certainly haven't been the only real player in a world full of boxes, as much as that seems to be what some people want to claim it's like.

I just hit 57, I don't box at all, and most guilds (including mine) raid three times a week. We use discord, people are real not AI-generated...

I dunno... it's EverQuest, either you want to play it or you don't.

Hoping the supposedly litany of boxes will sell a full cleric epic soon. You'd think if it was so prevalent that would already be happening...

There are tons of people LFG so start one. The problem is your level 50 trying to LFG when the cap is 60. Why pick a level 50 when you can get a 52?

I missed the first couple days of Kunark and managed a guild group one night to get a couple levels in. Now I get them within a few mins. Now people see "55 mage" they know I probably have CoTH which help when changing out group members. Then I put "all keys" people know I am not zone restricted. That I have my epic, so they know I am going to pump out the DPS.

The LFG tool is like voting for student council. It's a popularity contest, you need to give people a little sample of what your all about, or just another "insert class" in the sea of faces.
