Working on an alt mage. I have EM23 and casting L116 air pet, but he is still L116. Shouldnt that EM improve his level at all? If not, then what does it do?
Level increases with pet focus upgrades are cosmetic. If you test a non focused pet's dps/HP etc against a 23 em you "should" see increases in all regards even if lvl stays the same.
Level is just an arbitrary “increase”. Some times it does, some times it doesn’t. EM enhances the pets stats overall. It’s the same thing with your BSTs warder. Doesn’t always increase the level, but definitely increases their potency
In EM23 description: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=36997 it says 1: Pet Power Increase (165) That is a magic number 165, which is still somewhat a mistery. "Bigger is Better" is basic judgement for SPA 167. At some value it bumps up the actual level of your pet, at some other values it does not. With EM30 its value is 200. And summoned air pet (same as other pets) con at level 120. The pet level is not really material except debatable cases of level-difference effects, such as taunting or pet spells landing on nameds (higher level difference means more failures, I have a perception that fails are much more frequent from a level 119 pet (EM27) comparing to lvl 120 pet, when they proc on or taunt lvl 123+ nameds.) What is material - Pet Power Increase. Bigger number means your pet has higher AC, h/m/e , stats, heroic stats, skills etc. There is some level ladder of "pet power", which is still a mistery. At some points when a pet crosses some treshold its level increases nominally.
I've never seen anyone parse out the difference between enhanced minion levels. I think the consensus is that the difference is perceptible enough to make getting the best pet earring a very high priority for bst/nec/mag. If anyone does any parsing on the hp / mitigation / dps difference between EM 24 and 30 (best group/raid EMs right now) I think it'd be really interesting.
I don't know what kind of parsing whould show a reliable numbers for the pet, but I have some known outcomes. Shei Vinitras and Aten Ha Ra missions: EM24, Lvl 117 warder and earth pet: fold if less than 2 merc healers on Reactive. EM28 (CoV raid) lvl 119 warder and earth pet - tank successfully with a single healer merc. EM30 (ToL raid) lvl 120 warder - tanks Shei and AHR without a healer merc with just the beastlord's pet heal. Needs Fortified when tanks AHR with adds. Magicians' water pets lvl 117 (EM24) had hard time tanking ToL nameds with just 1 healer. Doable, but required attention. At lvl 119 (EM29 CoV raid earring) even Water pets tank anything in static zones with ease. And water pet dps seems to be better, not sure about exact numbers at this time. P.S. Calculating by reading how much heal landed on the pet and by how many % it ended up being - lvl 120 Warder has over 750K HP, lvl 119 Earth pet seems to exceed 800K.
I did a full test of HPS with different focus. I will find the post I did. Edit found some data. I have EM31 now, so I will test that also and with my Mage. Mage 119 Earth pet at EM30 has at least 1.5M hps, if I remember correctly. Huge difference for level 116+ pets with EM this time. Necro Pet, freshly summoned hps(within a few%) and Level Necro Rogue pet(120 spell) No EM 536,000 Level 115 EM 23 619,000 Level 116 EM 29 964,000 Level 119 EM 30 1,055,000 Level 120 EM 31 1,135,000 Level 120 Necro warrior pet(117 spell) No EM 620,000 Level 115 EM 23 713,000 Level 116 EM 29 1,094,000 Level 119 EM 30 1,198,000 Level 120 EM 31 1,298,000 Level 120
The last several expansions pet max hit damage increases about 5% per EM level. I would assume other stats on the spreadsheet the devs use to generate to focus tables have the same factor applied.
