What is the Universal Chat Service?

And why does it go down constantly?

It is the unified chat that allows you to message people in other SoE games, or "universes," I would have thought you knew that.

I do not know why it is constantly going down. I am hoping they are working on improving it or something, but I tend to doubt that.

I more or less meant is it on like an old server that constantly gets turned off? It works great for months, then is down for weeks, then it's up, down, up down, up, down, repeat this for all time.

What's wrong with it?

Daiquiris sounds like an awfully legitimate reason for UCS to go down... time for players to converge on San Diego.

I thought it was the server hamsters they were putting in the blender.
