What Happened to LoN?

For the past nine years, EverQuest and EverQuest II players have interacted with the world of Norrath through the Legends of Norrath Trading Card Game. Many of you have enjoyed its art, its strategic gameplay, and hopefully found that elusive Loot card granting one of our cool in game items.

Legends of Norrath has not had an active development team for quite some time and in the best interest of our company and players, we have made the difficult decision to close the servers on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Noon Pacific Time.

Purchasing Legends of Norrath booster packs and the monthly All Access Membership claim of Legends of Norrath booster packs will no longer be available after Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10AM Pacific Time.

All loot rewards and packs in the Legends of Norrath client will need to be open and claimed on your character prior to when the servers close to ensure that your loot rewards are available in EverQuest and EverQuest II.

We know some of you are extremely enthusiastic about some of the items that were previously introduced in the Legends of Norrath TCG packs. These loot rewards will continue to be available to players through other means. Look to the Marketplace for packs which give an opportunity for rewards from previous LON sets.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Many people didn’t like LoN and I understand them. I think Standard format was the main reason for its death. The game wasn’t as powerful as Magic/Heartstone/etc to pull that. Also gambling laws back then prevented most of non-US players from participating in competitive tournaments.

Still, I enjoyed the scenarios so much I still dream of LoN coming back some day, in any form. A mobile version , or an offline one, or whatever. I miss it so much

I don't miss the game so much as I miss the three dozen or so loot cards I didn't get to claim since I was away when they announced the death of it. A support ticket, of course, did nothing.

Anyone know why they deleted everyone's unclaimed loot cards when they closed down LoN? I'm still angry about that, I returned to EQ to see they were all gone.

I still wonder why they couldn't have just auto claimed the cards to accounts that weren't active.

They closed the server - took it down. Since cards were stored on the server then they also were vaporized. Like a dead link. The last few hours the server was up was total chaos - people were giving away cards right and left.

But in order to register to trade in LoN, you had to buy a booster pack from the LoN store, which was closed before the shut down or through the Marketplace. So any account that had not done this like a month before the closure could not do any trading for the final days of LoN's existence.

I expect activating that booster pack somehow flagged the account eligible to receive tradeable cards therefore if you had not already done that then they could not have done an auto claim. Keep in mind LON was a separate feature/server/game from EQ. Once the cards were claimed they were put in a players claim window in EQ servers and can sit there until the final claim. I still have some I have not done the final claim on.
