The point isn't to allow players to train other players in order for the players training to gain some sort of advantage over the players that are being trained.
Just because you seem to like or don't mind trains and being trained doesn't mean that everyone does. There seems to be plenty of people happy with the new changes and how it means that they are no longer getting trained while playing the game. Most modern MMO's take encounter locking even further and make it impossible for one person to train someone else.
Why can't the devs just ban or suspend the trainer? Instead of going the lazy route and changing a 24 year old mechanic. This mechanic makes EQ just like every other MMO except this one has worse graphics. Not sure how any veterans of EQ actually likes fte
They do that when they get the reports and have the evidence to support the claims but it is better in the long run to prevent it from happening ion the first place. It is a better player experience overall to prevent problems like this from happening in the first place then hope that the people doing it will get punished. There is a reason that most other MMO's have this type of mechanic which helps make the player experience better and one fewer reasons that chases players off.
That's a really good question with two opposing but absolutely related answers. #1 DB has had a terrible history of incorrect suspensions/bans. #2 The people that do things intentionally against the rules don't care about suspensions or bans, they will be back on another account.
No they don't. Maybe 20 years ago SoE did but DPG doesn't. You get the standard reply of "we can't tell you what we did, but we will look into it " which is code for we are going to do the least amount of effort to fix the problem. I have personally sent in videos and screenshots (maybe once a year) and I get the automated response. Then I log in and the person is still training and/or going on some tirade in chat... And the next day... And the next... And so on. And I know I am not the only one that has reported them. That's why EQ is as lawless as it is now, they keep being the rules back and making stupid changes because they don't want to enforce their own rules.
Just because they don't appear to take action on what you reported in the past doesn't mean they are not taking action.
If the same people are still there breaking the rules after you reported them with clear evidence of them breaking the rules it is pretty clear they are not doing nothing.
Whether I am told about how t or not (which I would expect no one one to be told.) When multiple people report the same individual and people supply the messed information. They respond back "they will look into it." And the person is still doing it the next day, the next day... 3 weeks later... Then there is no amount of defending you can do. It's painfully obvious they don't want to crack down on violations if it's a box army...
I had a pretty bad experience with FTE in Unrest. At Fireplace, MR just keeps coming up and taking all of our camps, and nothing we can do about it. People always say well maybe you should pull better. Kind of hard to pull when I'm a Cleric who needs to constantly meditate, and only one person in our group has the keys to every room. I feel like it's actually more toxic because at least before you could defend your camp. Now anyone can come and steal from you. Now granted I haven't really experienced this in Sol B or Guk, but it was eye opening to see how toxic it can actually be. Edit: I did have a Monk run up and steal a named from me after I cleared a path and pacified every mob in the Supplier room in Lower Guk, but I wasn't really shocked or that upset when it happened since I already have the mask anyways. But again, in the past I could have fought back and probably shut him down. Now I'm kind of hesitant to try and spend all my time breaking camps in a solo situation because of how easy it is for someone else to come along and snipe me after I've done all the hard work and wasted half my mana bar.
@ wokecat .... why , didn't you give the keys to the puller ? That does not even sound right. Also how was a cleric supposed to out dps a monk ? In the above situation ?
Again, just because they don't catch and punish everyone you think they should be doesn't mean that they are doing nothing.
You're conflating the finite with the infinitive. A lack of observed action being taken on a limited number of reports does not imply inaction for 100% of all reports.
I had the exact situation happen, Wokecat, and it was just fine. My group didn’t get trained and lose our spot because the mobs were locked. Rooms needed almost no breaking and we could just pull as they spawned. Our group was more proactive and sometimes would have 2 pullers to help us keep as much of our camp as possible. We didn’t overstay at the FP either and moved on to the basement faster than normal as well because there was not as big of an incentive to stay there longer to kill more mobs at less xp per kill. We didn’t have puller battles where people charmed and nuked and kept trying to steal “our” pull back. Mob spawned, you got aggro and pulled it to group. If other group got the lock, then we grabbed the next available mob. No fighting at all. And named? Whatever. We got most of them, but even if we had not, nothing in classic is really necessary to succeed. You can get haste belts from sky in a DZ, and planar armor from hate and fear, or Sol Ro armor quests.
You don't understand the operations of law/policy enforcement. Unless an enforcement effort has panoptic vision, massive processing resources, and unlimited ability to participate in an exploit 'arms race', the most reliable implementation of deterrent punishment is to massive surprise sweeps for all infractions committed within a certain span of time. If they were to zero-in on every single confirmed user of certain software, the developers of that software would analyze the behaviors that are tipping people off and perfect the software to make it less detectable. Instead, Daybreak needs to collect and investigate reports, plan disciplinary action, and then enact mass enforcement. Moreover, mass bans have the additional effect of providing visibility to an enforcement action thereby deterring those who have either not been caught or are considering using the prohibited software.
What I enjoyed most out of the new tlp is the now sanctioned and staff supported griefing of people who just roll into your camp with 3 pets sit on top of your named spawn and ignore any and all communication. Thanks darkpaw gaming
Worst of all, the first time this happens I actually try to report this but ofc I now get the canned response that what they're doing is completely legal and I'm playing the game the wrong way. My first instinct was to just start a few box mages and start griefing people. If you can't beat them, join them
I don't get it. People up in arms. Some defend FTE, some bash and blame it. Oakwynd currently is the only server that has FTE enabled. If you guys hate it so much, just play on a another server. It really is that easy... In case you are on Oakwynd to enjoy all the other perks that will unlock over time, you gotta learn to deal with FTE. You won't change it, so love it or leave it But then again I am under the impression that some people somehow are negative against almost anything just for the sake of being negative. My non-professional advice: Stop playing the game for two weeks and go outside to hug trees and touch grass. It mostly works Negative response incoming in 3... 2... 1...
