Ok here is the deal. I am getting my butt handed to me by trash that I used to be able to tank. I think I see something wrong with the mitigation( defended ) of the warrior class. Please look at what i have collected and check your logs and see if there is an issue or its just me. 2 hand stance with a exalted Rune II aug ac 4079/2534 Today on a mob in chardok /GU Tanking summary for: Weake --- Total Melee --- Damage: 1340633 --- Avg hit: 9858 --- Attempts: 190 --- Riposted: 6/190 [3.16%] --- Parried: 6/184 [3.26%] --- Dodged: 4/178 [2.25%] --- Defended: 16/190 [8.42%] --- Missed: 33/174 [18.97%] --- Hits: 141/174 [81.03%] --- Absorbed: 5/141 [3.55%] --- Real Hits: 136/141 [96.45%] The pally and sk i was with today BOTH parsed at 26% defended on lab mobs. 1 hand and shield ac 4483/2536 /GU Tanking summary for: Weake --- Total Melee --- Damage: 602123 --- Avg hit: 8028 --- Attempts: 118 --- Riposted: 5/118 [4.24%] --- Parried: 3/113 [2.65%] --- Dodged: 3/110 [2.73%] --- Blocked: 8/107 [7.48%] --- Defended: 19/118 [16.1%] --- Missed: 24/99 [24.24%] --- Hits: 75/99 [75.76%] --- Real Hits: 75/75 [100%] 3/17/2017 on roon 1 hand and shield /GU Tanking summary for: Weake --- Total Melee --- Damage: 1096228 --- Avg hit: 9060 --- Attempts: 216 --- Riposted: 16/216 [7.41%] --- Parried: 13/200 [6.5%] --- Dodged: 29/187 [15.51%] --- Defended: 58/216 [26.85%] --- Missed: 37/158 [23.42%] --- Hits: 121/158 [76.58%] --- Real Hits: 121/121 [100%]
Maybe i am phrasing the question wrong... What does Defended mean on gamparse, and why is my warrior lower percent than the other two tank classes?
All from today, almost entirely dual wield /GU Tanking summary for: Tucoh --- Total damage: 34115042 --- Avg hit: 5609 --- Swings: 12556 --- Defended: 4221 (33.6%) --- Hit: 6082 (48.4%) --- Missed: 2253 (17.9%) --- Accuracy: 73% --- Dodged: 640 (7.1%) --- Parried: 2406 (19.2%) --- Blocked: 1 (0%) --- Riposted: 1174 (11.6%) --- Absorbed: 0 (0%)
Yes, you will defend better with a shield than a 2 hander. Defended is the total of all riposte, parry and dodges. When tanking old content (i.e. Roon) your heroics exceed their strikethough numbers so you defend better. 16 + 13 + 29 = 58 hits defended out of 216 attacks, checking riposte then parry then dodge and finally the hit/miss roll.
agi = 945/820 + 959 dex= 957/820 +486 ac = 4342 avoidance = 128/300 which a month ago I was able to tank just fine with 1 merc healer. Now its death city.
I might have found the problem.. although i don't know why its happening Every time my pc writes to the log... windows search index comes on and freezes my pc up
Can you explain a little more on this? Was the system lag of your log being indexed making you slow on hitting buttons you need? That's the only thing I can see this affecting. (beyond making the game sluggish and unpleasant)
Go ahead and sign up for windows insider on windows 10 home edition. Update to this Build 16215.rs_prerelease.170306-1840 Once you have done that open EQ. Turn on log Go try to tank a mob with just 1 merc and warrior self buffs. Once you die, you will realize superfetch is on and so is windows search indexer and that your pc become completely unresponsive during the times these two background task run. when do they run? every time a log is written too. Welcome to my nightmare. You can't even opt out and go back to regular windows now without reinstalling everything.
... combat doesn't happen on your desktop. There's nothing for you to process, or for you to load from disk, that governs how frequently your Dodge and Riposte fire. Your client just watches combat happening on the game servers.
That doesn't make you take more damage. EverQuest doesn't ask your client whether or not your character hit, or Dodged.
I'm glad your problem is resolved, but this doesn't make much sense, Brohg is covering that already and is totally correct. Assuming you didn't change any gear (and didn't accidentally unequip some pieces), the only thing I can think of is that you disabled weapon stances which will neuter your character. It's in the Archetype tab and should always be enabled. Assuming that's fine, your defensive scores are fine for tanking. I'm at the top end of group gear and have: agi: 920 +839 dex: 920 +1215 ac: 5052/2502 avoidance: 122 with 1h/shield on and without buffs, and I can steamroll group content.
As far as I know, warriors aren't really a 2h tank class, that is more for SKs and Pallys. Most warriors in my guild go with either 2-weapon or weapon/shield, with stances enabled. And most of them, if they run 2 weapon, use a Honed Wurmslayer. Personally, in open zone EoK, I'll run 2 weapon (Wurmy/T2 Warrior Aggro Sword), and dungeon EoK, I'll go weapon/shield (T2 warrior aggro sword/T2 shield) (sorry for not having names of weapons, I am at work currently and can't look them up).
Warriors absolutely are a 2hander class Siss. The dps is very good, If the tanking requirements are low enough that you can survive. Which let's be honest is 99% of group content. On a raid, well that's a different matter, but you can get away with 2hander tanking some adds if your heal team is on point. Though not something I would suggest unless your firmly entrenched in farm mode and you need to break up the monotony.
Interesting to know. Maybe it is just different on Vox because we don't have the high end stuff unless its chase loot. I have always been advised against trying to 2h as a warrior unless not tanking, unless you are PLing someone in HoThule. I have only seen pallys and sks 2h tank on a regular basis on our server.
/shrug IDK about all thay, but if your on a backwater server it's certainly possible the types of players who gravitate towards a higher risk/reward playstyle are just not on your server. I won't say it isn't easier to keep a high level of survival 2hander tanking as a paladin, which is what I play. Though I know a warrior with a 2hander does well enough, especially if supported properly (read: not a merc healer)
Hey now, no need for a put down. Vox is a young server, not as established as most of the other non-progressive servers that have been around since the beginning and merged together. We may not be up there raiding EoK content yet, but we are slowly getting there. Right now, there is really only one dominant raid guild on Vox, and even then, it isn't a guild that makes raiding its main objective and priority.
