Warrior - Useless abilities?

Before i get started, my warrior is quite new (Swapped from SK) but iv got to the point i feel i have played enough now that i understand most of the class mechanics.

I could be wrong on this which is why i'm asking the question but why do we have "Armor of Tenacious Runes" and "Stormstrike Defence Discipline"? in 90% of situations i found having Resolute defence on to be better as the AC boost just keeps me stable instead of RNG runes.

Culminating Stand for the other 10% when things go south or i'm tanking a named.

In what situation is Armor or Stormstrike suppose to be used as id love to see these removed for something that feels more up to-date if im being honest. (SK's Discs all feel useful for the most part)

    Thanks

Like you, for defense I mostly use Resolute and Culminating Stand.

I haven't done any parses to estimate goodness, but:

    Stormstrike Defense is good when:
A: You're fighting lots of level 113 or lower mobs.
B: Those mobs relative Attack values are low enough that you've pretty much saturated the Damage Bonus curve without the additional AC from resolute defense. More info here: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq...e-melee-still-crap.224298/page-3#post-3297852
C: For whatever reason, you need extra sustained AE aggro that would come from the stun attacks

    Tenacious Runes is good when:
A: Those mobs relative Attack values are low enough that you've pretty much saturated the Damage Bonus curve without the additional AC from resolute defense.
B: Maybe when you're rampage tanking and can reliably keep up the rune, but don't need the extra AC? lol

I don't use Armor of Tenacious Runes, but Stormstrike is great for when you pull a lot of level 113 and lower mobs. I've never parsed it though to see what kind of uhh, lockdown rate you get. I'll take a look at it tonight and see how many procs I get.

Yea thats pretty much on line with what i thought they are good for.
Shame for endgame content they just dont get used. I dont think a class should ever have "new" abilities but only really press them once a month :)

Thanks for the info you posted.

Every class has so many abilities that, if their numbers were improved moderately, would be interesting and fun abilities to use. Like, 25% of any class' abilities are so situational they leave the player scratching their head for why they exist.

The way I see it, improving them to be generally useful would be a balancing headache for DBG that has to not only tweak these abilities, but balance a class that now has more options and can sustain more efficacy. Additionally, EQ has so many abilities in the first place that it's easier on the user if they can take a look at an ability and not even put it on their hotbars.

A couple good non-warrior examples that I wish were a bit better are healer versions of Night's Endless Terror.

Another good examples is the mage's dissident spell that is typically not even worth the global cooldown it takes to cast it (let alone the mana)
