Warrior guide?

    Hi folks,

Decided to try a melee class for a change, and getting a bit bogged down with the various discs that Warriors have, particular as many of them share the same timer (e.g. Evasive, Defensive, Stonewall).

Is there a current "guide to warrior discs" anywhere, or can anybody tell me if any of the shared timer discs are objectively "better" than the others, or is it a situational thing?

Step 1: Find old thesteelwarrior forums, might need the wayback machine for this one

Step 2: Play with class using old info from 10 expansions ago as a general guideline to how the class plays optimally

Step 3: Pay for namechange to Chadwarrior if you don't already have the name.

timer 2, the class defining tanking discs : highest level is most powerful, but the o.g. level 55 Defensive disc has the same core mitigation modifier at 0 startup endurance cost. It heavily nerfs your melee dps, but is something to remember if you need to start tanking after a res.

timer 3 melee immunity discs : Fortitude is the very-usual choice thanks to its defense being all-around; warrior class BPs extend its duration by a little. Furious instead only protects your front, and for shorter duration, but adds a ton of damage and agro to your target via Riposte.

timer 4 offensive disciplines : until & unless you advance your character (mostly via Heroic Dexterity) to the point where you always crit all the time, Mighty > Charge > Fellstrike. When you're fully critting already without it, obviously Mighty does nothing so it's Charge Discipline's time to "shine". Biting Tongue is terribad trash.

timer 5 offensive-proc rune defenses are widely regarded as bad. The procs are inconsistent and individually smaller than the scary hits you'd actually want to defend against. There's a thing where these discs can be combined with Rage of Rallos Zek to get forced procs for two ticks, generating tons of agro and… some protection, but RoRZ is only 2 tick duration and the proc disc sits in the disc window for a full minute unless you just click it off. The super sad thing is that RoRZ does the same agro trick already with the much-better high level timer 2 discs.

Timer 5 can alternately be used for level 97 Weapon Covenant disc, which isn't super exciting, but does add more than nothing. Sometimes.

Timer 6 Brutal Onslaught best dps disc. Get rank 3.

Timer 7 defensive-proc stun defenses are widely regarded as bad. Really they're fine, if not well-flavored for warriors, if you're fighting stunnable monsters under their level cap. Currently that cap is 113 on the highest level version, which doesn't even cover all dark blues, soooo…

Timer 12 Wade / Reprisal / StrikeThrough timer represents a strategic choice. If you're tanking single monster(s), Reprisal adds agro and damage, is great! (Great-ish. it ain't like laser eye beams, but it does good stuff.) If you intend to tank multiple enemies, Wade will add moderate agro to the gaggle of them. Nicely, it isn't target-count limited, but it is proc count limited so once it adds its moderate agro it's done for 5 minutes. StrikeThrough disc is a poor version of Charge Discipline (timer 4 listed above), which is a fine thing to do with a 10 minute cool down if you're not going to be tanking.

Timer 14 endurance recovery - warriors can get by with anything other than 0 endurance, so opt for level 101 Breather which has shorter cooldown & less melee nerfing than 111 Relax.

Timer 21 add-agro-when-you-get-healed abilities - Concordant Precision adds moderate agro to just the mob the warrior targets, it has side benefits with tiny damage and a moderate HoT. Concordant Expanse adds small agro on all mobs around, does nothing else.

A few buttons since then have been merged (like Rage of the Forsaken and Warlord's Fury), but the main bulk of it is still up to date guides. if you have questions about some abilities names listed that you don't recognize, you can ask me.

    Happy reading !
