All of those zones will be released with LDoN. Veksar, Chardok B, Infected Paw, the Hole revamped, etc.

sources say it came out shortly after LoY on live, prior to LDoN

LoY lives in this funny place... originally it wasn't even called an expansion. It's kind of unfinished (and yes there are other examples of that in the game), and in the progression server era it has been bounced around a bit as to when it goes live and/or what it is combined with. Basically LoY isn't that helpful for assigning an era of something.

I think the logic applied to Veksar is that it was "tuned" in line with LDoN, which is really just group-accessible medium+ quality PoP gear. As many good drops in Veksar are tradable (and later become tribute cash cows) it's pretty reasonable for it to happen with LDoN. It wouldn't be gamebreaking if it launched with PoP... but it would be super farmed. It will still be farmed heavily dropping with LDoN, but at least it won't be such an obvious only place to go.

I think the reason behind having all these zones (veksar, chardokb, solc, revamped hole, revamped hate, infected paw) being tied to LDoN is because that's around when they came out, and also it gives them the ability to treat LDoN as it's own expansion and give it the full 12 weeks.

LDoN on it's own isn't really enough to count as a full expansion, you add in all the other zones that go live with it, and it might still be debatable, but at least it's better than just LDoN alone.

ykesha was always called an expansion newb

LDoN is actually a pretty decent expansion. It added like 14 new raids (they're actually pretty cool), a ton new group content and a great alternative path to gear up group players & raiders alike. It's main problem was repetitiveness, that it's gear (the weird aug slots) is largely limited to that expansion, and that it introduced 36-man raid caps in some buggy raids (mostly 54 now).

Some of the stuff that came out in the middle of expansions they have pushed to the following expansion launch. Veksar is one of those.

(Five of them are actually pretty cool) if you are a rogue and like winning combined parses on hundreds of trash mobs.

Look at your current plane of air combined parses. If you like Plane of Air, you will love ldon!

    So... no.

These LDoN Raids you speak of.... assuming your guild has been farming Time (and probably splitting some of it) you'd basically only be doing them for the Slot 8 Raid Augments, no?

I did some peaking around the LDoN raid drops and there don't seem to be many items - even fully augmented that seem to hold pace with Time drops. Maybe a few do if you are a dps class and load up say a BP with +attack augments?

The ones that really matter are the +Spec augs, especially evocation for nukers and alteration for healers. Those will be used until they get upgraded in VoA. There's really almost nothing in the game that matches that kind of longevity. Most augs will get replaced every other expansion. Even the BiC aug will be swapped out sooner than these augs in many cases.

The AC augs are also very nice for tanks. A 30 AC aug is going to be used for quite a few expansions to come. Probably will be SoD before tanks swap out the last of their straight 30 AC augs for stuff with 30 ac and stats.

It was marketed differently than prior expansions, and existed at a price point different than expansions before and after it iirc. So sure, technically an expansion, though in reality an extension of the low level game with a tiny bit of content the 60+ crowd could visit.
