Tribute timer change request

Correct me if I am wrong, but Tribute charges the full amount and then starts a count down. When turned off, it immediately ends your tribute and goes back to 10m.

Shouldn't it turn red and continue to count down until at 0, then go back to grey 10m until activated again? Deactivating tribute shouldn't actually end the benefits, it should simply stop the recurrent tribute charge that refreshes automatically.

Would this be difficult to change?

Raid ends, you go to turn tribute off and the timer reads "9:59". GFDI

Raids yes but group content is even more applicable. If I activate it to fight a named, and win in 3m, why can't I just disable it and continue the benefits for the next 7m of pulls?

That's more like the mercenary system that stops charging on passive after it cycles once. Tribute pre-dates that and has always reset once deactivated. Considering the modern game, is it not optimal? Yes there could be some argument.

Replacing existing systems is always going to be difficult, but not necessarily outside of possibility. As long as it doesn't introduce any loopholes for trib cost exploits.

Tribute? We're talking about tribute man?

I (and others) actually use the reset nature of the tribute timer all the time. When we have a piece of rotting gear to tribute but our personal tribute is too full to use the item. A couple of hits on/off and we're below the gear value and can get rid of it.

Tribute is so easy to get these days, with so many items in mission chests going to rot not to mention all the named rots as well. Is there anyone who plays even semi-regular who doesn't have overflowing bags (or even whole houses) full of gear waiting to be tributed?

Would pretty much prefer the time spent on literally anything else than this ... like say actually updating the tribute ranks in the personal or guild tribute.

I don't think they want players to be able to turn it on and off like that and want people to think about the costs of turning it on just for a name. Though in cases like that you could always make a ginia trigger to remind you to turn it off before you get charged again.

On that note, what a wonderful feeling it is when raid ends and you go to tribute and you see 0:03 remaining and you click off on personal and trophy before the countdown goes to 0:00

Or have the ability to pause it at 7m remaining and resume it when you pull the next named.

Or just stop being cheap and don't worry about it.

I had been JUST keeping up with needed items for tribute, til the last couple months or so. And even I don't want dev time spent making this change, even though from a logical point it makes sense. There are better ways to use dev time.

Lately I've just been making the occasional trip to the Bazaar to pick up tribute items, and that seems to be working just fine.

I figure I waste around 75% of the tribute I get from doing some named or mission at the end of the day then forget to turn it off and go to sleep sitting in guild lobby until all my tribute is gone.

I really wish there was a way for tribute, merc, etc all to only charge once at the beginning of a fight then it counts down to 15mins and after 15mins without any aggro it charges 15 more mins (so there is some cost for not turning it off yourself) and goes back to passive mode automatically after the second 15mins with no aggro.

Sure, but they might make it FV-tradeables-heirloom like on the new progression, then you'll regret tributing your old raid gear.

Tributing gear is always a last resort for me. We always call it out in general chat and OOC to see if someone wants to come for it. Mission loot is left on the chest for whatever person answers the call for the free task add we give away.

lots of people have helped me out through the years so just trying to give it back. You are right though, tribute is not hard to come by at all.
