It's funny how salty the teek fans are; it's not like Tormax existing stops DP from opening a third server.

It's like they are mad that someone else is eating vanilla ice cream when they chose chocolate. It doesn't affect them in any way at all, but they are mad about it.

It's funny why you care too. It's like these forums are made for, I dunno, complain and or, post thoughts? I am not a Teeker nor am I a Tormax player. Neither rulesets align with what I wanted to play. I think Tormax could have been a lot more compelling and it was not even a good swing from DBG. I think it's OK for people to point out how silly it was they moved forward with it in it's current state.

You’re really missing the bigger picture on this. The numbers are so bad on Tormax that it makes the server a bad business decision. EQ/DPG is going to show weaker financial and MAU numbers.

You really need to think bigger picture.

What makes you think Teek players are mad? Because they call you out on your attempts to lie about the server? I am questioning why you feel you need to lie about the Teek population? Teek existing doesn't prevent you from playing on Tormax.

They will level and sell the characters...

MAny players who never were able to get past the queue are unhappy about Tormax as it is clearly wasted resources....opening day of a new server and during prime time the server population is LOW....

We should have had 2 Teek servers one as teek sits and one with FTE...

both would have queues and be high population...

Tormax completely missed the mark....and it is clear...

Because you are being weirdly super defensive, angry and accusatory about it. I've been playing both servers, alt-tabbing between them while resting between battles. (after waiting a few hours to get onto teek) I had no advance 'side' or agenda. Teek the newbie zone was swarmed with numbers for names box armies and there was little human interaction outside chat channels. Tormax I joined a group of four real players with no boxes, had some casual chat, shared loot Need-before-greed in a friendly way, added a couple people to friends list.

If you think I'm lying, that's your mental health problem, not mine.

The 'bigger picture' is an ice cream shop that only sells one flavor won't succeed.

They absolutely should have had 2 or even 3 servers for Teek ruleset.

But that's no reason to not have a truer to classic server for the anniversary as well.

See, your analogy fails because this particular ice cream shop has discontinued other flavors in order to repeatedly change the name of one flavor and is now going to surprised pikachu that its not popular.

The point isn't "haha Teek is doing better." The point is that we spent a month on these forums asking for Tormax to be anything other than a low-effort recycle of Phinny/Coirnav/Mangler/Aradune/Yelinak but instead got crickets. The community contributed 20+ pages of feedback asking for something different, but DPG served the same flavor again and it went over poorly.

This ain’t an ice cream shop. MMOs are an entirely different animal than anything else.

There was no pick in Steamfont on Tormax for the first 2 hrs after startup before i headed to Unrest.

We shared the courtyard trash with the other group that was on the other side.. then we split the house... Then i logged, level 16.. In unrest.. without ever seeing more than 12 total people in the zone and zero picks.

This is wild. Very relaxing. I'm a Thornblade vet, and i'll admit this was a whole 'nother level of desolate. Very friendly folks, though. Sure beat shaking my first in a 2 hr queue.

The reason to not have a truer classic rule set was the other rule set was so popular.

DBG was warned early on DAY ONE of the rule set announcements that Tormax would not compete or take demand away from Teek.

And yes it needed to compete. Two Teek rule sets would have been high population on day one.

Instead we got a long queue within minutes on Teek and Tormax never crested low population on day one...And that was EXPECTED and PREDICTED.

People are not upset at players who wanted a Tormax rule set...but they are upset that DBG did not understand the dynamic and ignored the player base warnings. People on Tormax will lose interest quickly unless some how the population grows a lot and soon.

Even Oakwynd had a queue on day one but I never saw one after that but it stayed HIGH population even after the Legacy issue and Depot Exploit, but population did drop off from the pre Luclin level and the economy was destroyed....Krono was selling for over 1 million plat last week on a server less than one year old.

seems to me tormax was the better experience. Everyone who wanted to got to play.
Who cares if there are 7 general channels, cause your not gonna be in more than one. Why does the number of picks matter cause again, your only ever in 1.
Just more gaslighting. Somehow teek people feel the need to belittle everyone else to make themselves feel better. I don't understand why they are so insecure.

Because some people realize that just looking at today is short sighted. Sure, Tormax was fun today, but what is it going to be like in a week? In a Month? When the already dismal population starts to spread out in levels and finding someone to group with gets harder and harder. What happens to Tormax when people start to get bored and stop logging in. 7 General channels matters not because you can be in them all, but because it reflects a robust population that will survive the long haul it has ahead of it.

No one on Teek is belittling the people on Tormax by saying that DBG made a mistake by making the server. YOU are not the person who made a mistake, no one is laughing at YOU. They are laughing at DBG. But it is delusional to think that server population this early doesn't matter. It does. You know it as well as any, you just don't want to admit it.

Teek is rough today, but 3 years from now it will still be strong. Tormax won't survive until Velious. Hope all you Tormaxers have your boxing computers set up, you are going to need em.

Removing truebox is the only thing that has a shadow of a hope of saving Tormax from being the next Miragul/Trakanon.

After nearly a literal half a century of gaming, in this era of the attention economy and other factors, I've concluded that the standing first rule of gaming is not to listen to opinions about anything gaming related from people that aren't active participants in that thing about anything beyond the cursory. Like PC gamers' opinions of consoles and vice versa, particular games, and whatever else. It's everywhere and this is a quick and effective way of cutting through piles of nonsense blathering and posturing for reasons that usually have little to do with whatever it is being discussed.

Note that most comments about Tormax are overwhelmingly from people not playing there, who never intended to play there, and who will never play there.

But this isn't apples to oranges hun, it's not console to PC. Tormax is not some great unknown that we have never experienced. We have all seen how this plays out. We don't need to play on the dead server to know it's dead.
  19. Massimo_Bertoxx Augur

I wasn't suggesting it was the same thing, that was just an example of why I have taken this tact, and it works fantastically.

Who cares how it plays out? You aren't playing there. And spare me the "wasted resources" rationalization.

I personally can't see myself playing an Everquest server with Mischief or any other distorted rules; I guess the lesson learned here is you can't launch a Mischief server vs. a standard server together anymore.
I'm glad Teek players are enjoying their server; at the end of the day, we have to enjoy it while it lasts
