"Tormax DoA"

Can someone explain why this is being shouted from the roof tops?

I don't understand the negative view on this, or why a Mischief rule set is so heavily favored...can someone please explain? I missed the Mischief server last time due to burn out and idk, I don't like "feeling like a noob" in a 25 year old game, having no clue where items are going to be coming from or what the exact parameters of the "randomness" are..

I assume a level 1 decaying skeleton is not going to be dropping a fungi tunic, but I also assume that FREE TRADE means exactly that, and with a Kunark launch, does this not mean that literally every single epic item drop is going to be perma-camped by necromancer's front loading their dots?

This is the ONLY thing I think about when I hear this rule set and it sounds absolutely degenerate and disgusting. Am I missing something here? Is it not going to be that way? It is the sole reason I'm leaning Tormax...like I just don't want to be forced into playing a Necromancer, or spending krono on every little item thats needed along the way to epic.

As a rule items will cost a lot less as they will be in abundant supply.

Are you a player who 25 years later is a purist?

    OR

Do you just want to get your EPIC and move on...

IF you really care about the path needed to get your EPIC I doubt Teek will be for you.
  3. darkaero36 Journeyman

I do want to get my epic and move on, but some classes just simply won't be able to, without buying it..its the free trade aspect that is the issue for me, i think, I'm just assuming this is going to mean every single thing you do to progress towards your epic, is going to be contested by a group of necromancers..similar to how standard TLPs are with VP keys and such..if as lets say Bard has to contend with necromancers who front load their dots...its just simply never going to happen without pulling out their wallet.

    Blackwing's Onyx Drake Gut: krono
    Neze/Phurz Red Wurm Gut: krono
    Eldrig Chromodrac Gut: krono
    Phin's Kedge Backbone: krono
    Amgdalan Tenedril: krono
    Petrified Werewolf Skull: krono
    Red Scale: krono
    White Scale: krono
    Undead Dragongut Strings: krono

Sure some of these items are normally sold eventually anyway, but the fact that the things that would normally rot are now krono money makers, how do you acquire these items without being a dot frontloading necromancer?

Because people are bored and want something to be angry at. So they've chosen to hate on tormax. Saying it'll be bad cause its not "their choice", or that its unfair tormax has a different name than teek or whatever.

These same people will always make up a reason to be angry about something. It makes them feel superior to hate on something.

Mischief loot actually plays out a lot better for casual folks than non-mischief loot. What you are missing is the sheer VOLUME of gear that you end up with on the servers. Phinny will drop 2-3 phinnies worth of loot each kill. I did multiple epics on Mischief and didn't buy a single item for any of them. Necro, Mage, Rogue, Bard, I did them all with help from the guild and friends. It's the extra loot and the random loot that does it. There are too many mobs to lock them all down, so you just go find another mob that will drop what you need. It's not rocket science, it is 5 level windows. Not hard to figure out what else drops the item you want. Also you need a guild for half those items anyway, no frontloading necro is going to KS vox or Naggy.

Blackwing's Onyx Drake Gut: krono - Just go camp it, no one was killing it other than bards on Mischief
Neze/Phurz Red Wurm Gut: krono - Again, just go camp it, promise it is not being locked down
Eldrig Chromodrac Gut: krono - Camp it in the instance until you get it if you are that worried about it, You won't need to though, it'll be up in OW plenty
Phin's Kedge Backbone: krono - Needs at least a solid group, instanced
Amgdalan Tenedril: krono - You'll get this on raids the first week
Petrified Werewolf Skull: krono - randomized and can't be locked down, you will probably get one while leveling
    Red Scale: krono - Raids
    White Scale: krono - raids
Undead Dragongut Strings: krono - raids

Multiple of those things are not tradeable on Mischief. Generally if they were no drop epic items that were only used for an epic before then they are still no drop epic items. The scales you can trade but they become dirt cheap in Kunark. The sheer amount of loot drives down a lot of value.

You can still multi quest but that's the same way on any server.

I played on Mischief. I had eight characters at the time and completed all of their epics in era. Epics were much easier on there than when I played on Mangler. You don't know the rules or actual situation so you're making a boogeyman of it.

This. Mischief isn't holding long term popularity better than literally any other TLP in the history of TLPs because they only way to accomplish things is to open your wallet.

DPG has stated in the past that every server exerts a load on the entire game's cluster whether there are players or not. So every server that is made and only appeals to an extremely small population takes away capacity that could be used for a server that does appeal to what people want. Tormax is hurting the game because it has such a tiny appeal while a second Teek ruleset server would have been a MUCH better use of EQ's meager resources.
  11. darkaero36 Journeyman

I hope it plays out that way, like I said, I don't have any experience with Mischief at all but as it was explained to me that was my initial reaction.

Do you think personas will have an impact on availability of items as opposed to mischief not having it at launch?
  12. darkaero36 Journeyman

You are 100% right, I don't and am doing that. So Free Trade is not really Free Trade...there are still NO DROP items in the game that can not be traded?
  13. Ilshade Augur

The amount of gear drop is insane, to a point you have to much. yes, the cost for items has a huge decline in prices after like the first week even unlike most servers so to me this is a negative, but again for a casual player it is one of the best servers to play on if you want to spend coin and not camp or wait to equip your toon it is the easiest server to do it. krono farmers have to work a bit harder as the prices drop fast and any one trying to actually play a merchant type character is going to loss big to the krono farmers cause they have to hit the road hard and they can do it harder then you with the bot armies, so you have no choice to make money the hard way or sell krono that is the bad part about it.
with a life expectancy of a 4 xpac server then yes its a good server if your playing for the long run pass and go to a regular server.
  14. fransisco Augur

yup, that thing which doesn't exist is hurting the game. Got more madeup stuff?

As for the "free trade solves krono" story, its not believable. Kronos are VERY MUCH Alive and well on mischief, and have been the entire time. Make no mistake, teek will totally be a krono rmt fest.

I think most of the hate is coming from them wanting there to be a backup Teek server cuz Mischief was clogged and queue was bad. So hopefully with early name registrations it'll help not be so clogged but that's what I am fearing for launch day.
  16. YourJobNotYourLife Elder

99% of items are free trade. (Some) epic items and certain high prestige quest items are not. A lot of the farmable bottlenecks have been removed or lessened by DPG (though that would apply to any server). If epics are your primary concern, Teek shouldn't put you off in any way.

Also, pretty sure the necro front loading dot bug has been fixed.

The server will bring out the greedy degenerates but the sheer volume of loot means that it's casual friendly even with that population being present (besides, they're doing most of their work in AoCs).

Eldrig got the "rare" tag added, so I presume this means his drop can appear on other mobs. Will be able to check in seven days!

Do you understand the difference between "I think x" vs "I want x"? I'm sure there's a handful of people who really want Tormax to fail, but most people are just giving warning that it is going to fail. Just because Aradune was a popular server for a number of reasons doesn't mean that making a yelinak clone is going to be successful. And I am going to call it a yelinak clone and not aradune because the whole point of aradune was that it was supposed to have a dedicated GM enforcing no more than 2 boxing. They failed to deliver on that promise, but the server rules most closely match Yelinak with only 2 differences: Kunark start, and DoN unlocking with OoW.

No - repeating it over and over is called trolling.
