TLP content vs New: denying your userbase

Discussion in 'The Veterans' Lounge' started by Skrem, Dec 20, 2019.

Seems a lot of problems and downtime is a result of new content. How much of this new content is consumed by the userbase? I dont have any numbers to go off except whats listed as server population (high, medium, low) but besides for FV, live looks dead... Even the new Miragul TLP has low pop.

So why do live and TLP servers fall under the same branch? With the data DBG has, they could see when a userbase drops off on TLP and provide a branch split in coordinance with data.

But for real, whats the population of players running through old content vs new content? anyone know?

Last time they mentioned anything that Live servers are 2/3 of their revenue while TLP are 1/3

Splitting the code base would require part of the team to split off and both sides would probably lose

No one cares about you or your TLP. And yes, I am also a TLP player.

Not really. At a pannel the team was on a year ago they mentioned TLP accounted for 40% of revenues and was growing year over year. In the last interview Holly did she said they were almost even.

They *should* make more content for TLPs...

    They can add:
    • New Zones!
    • New Abilities!
    • New Spells!
    • New Levels!
    • New Items!
They could even combine these things into a single package, call it something like an "expansion pack."

In the interviews for the 20th anniversary (march of this 2019) she said that TLP's grew EQ revenue by 50%, this puts TLP at 1/3 and Live is 2/3 of the overall pie

Maybe population wise its getting close to the same? But it doesn't seem that TLP's are outspending, which makes live more valuable, which is why it gets like 2/3-3/4 of the year dev time :p

But at the same time there is no word on how many of those people play on both

If it's not possible to split them, I say delete the TLPs. A lot of unnecessary nerfs for real Everquest players happened because of TLPs (bard Vainglorious Shout, Charm kiting, riposte, probably a lot more that I can't think of ATM).

So yes, OP. I agree with you. Get rid of TLPs and revert all of the stupid nerfs and changes that the idiots who played on TLPs caused.

If they did that they would prob also let go a few of the devs which would hurt live in the end too

TLP's are all paying accounts. Get rid of FTP first? I don't think either will happen.
  13. That0neguy Augur

I'm not sure how your math works... But anyway just went and looked it up.

Holly: They are. But they’re also almost equal to each other now, in numbers. So we have to be very mindful of both.

She doesn't really indicate if she is talking about population or $$

What about TL in combat, can we delete the servers that caused that nerf?

This is so exciting, my offical first time being called boomer. Now if only I could retire like one. What is the proper response for whatever generation 10 year olds fall into though?
