Yes and no, healers used to have large heals that took a long time to cast, or short cast small heals. Now they have large heals that have semi fast cast times. My cleric bot crits for 110k without special abilities running, I max out at 150k hp, therefore that is almost a complete heal I one cast. Lower it to 75k crits but bring the cast time down some and make mobs keep around the same dps by bringing their db up some and making their di's closer a tad, then bring tanks up to 200k full buffed (clr aura, growth, etc) and u make the tanks non one round able but the clr has to work a bit to keep up with the inc dps. Non tanks could be brought up to the 130-150k mark buffed + clr aura - growth and they would be able to take one round w/o dying.

To address the non tanks they have and will always take more incoming dps making them harder to kill, in group if you stack enough healers you can currently keep a silk up on non named, if you are willing to sacrifice the dps slots for healers sure. On raids, it wouldn't happen.

Brosa we could bring back close to the old social style, it would take work though and time.

Also let's leave pets and nerfs to the other thread, they have no place here. Thanks

I motion that beyond my mention of it here, we just forget there was a massive TL;DR wall-of-text posted in this thread that I didn't bother reading.

I would highly suggest not reading it and not quoting / commenting on it. That would be great. Just continuing on the discussion as-is.

On topic, many classes have been given tools to handle their aggro / incoming damage (fade/rune) that make it a lot easier to keep them alive these days when they get aggro than it was when I was a druid back in 2001-2006. I think on the mob-vs-DPS front, I prefer the way it is now when I am playing my recently-minted heroic cleric.

I am in favor, when it comes to healing the tank, of a situation where hit points inflated and heals deflated, to the point that overhealing wasn't such a big issue, and twin-healing, efficiency, and such were brought back into the healer repertoire. I love playing my warrior / cleric combo, but it's a hell of a lot of work when one bad round can spoil everything. When I just want to chillax and do little to no work, I have other classes I play which do the same as me with minimal effort.

Fransico brought it up I merely mentioned were taking more max di hits then we should be and our life is spiking so bad that most us tanks have to use vent or wait till a med break to say hi to someone just to survive. Mitigation is everything right now I am sorry you don't notice tanks are not even avoiding hits from raid named with dodge block and parry without flash of anger so we are pretty much not avoiding many hits , Our mitigation is lower then your sidekick while were doing 15 k less sustained damage, the npc accuracy is once again in the 70 - 80% range . I am sorry you feel to make a class warfare argument out of a broken class thread which is what this is.

    My mage btw.

Why would I nerf myself ?

    Well, that didn't work.

Then why on earth aren't all raids ran by earth pets? Don't quote me and not ask the question. If pets are the be all end all, why are you in a raid or group ever? Ever wonder that maybe because pets are limited, you are not. My SK is off tank or main for many raids, are you telling me you are flopping all the time? If so, as a tank, camp all your stuff and then be put correctly in tank rotation. Life is not bad for a tank atm, you can't lie about this.

There are guilds using as much as they can pet tanking and and have been since uf in some strats (tanking braith) (sep 3 or fumurak) EW tanking the dragon. Wk letting the dragon and pets combined tank the captain. Just because the view in one guild or on one server is wonderful doesn't mean it is like that everywhere.

I am missing 1 aug for my shield from powar that could right now barely be considered an upgrade since the heroics don't help ?

You are simply not a raider if you don't believe we min/max everything. If the pet is the best why aren't top raiders tossing warriors and knights left and right instead of gearing them. What, no answer, well I have one, it is because you can't do it, pets cannot tank in this manner, next question please?
  9. withteeth Journeyman

If your guild is headed that way, I am so sorry you haven't finished current content. GL on VoA and maybe some ToV. Your situation is not mine, we would never pet tank, ever.
  10. Makavien Augur

I never said my guild ? You are assuming alot of things including that I mentioned anything other then the parse showed we took more di 20s then we should be taking ? I guess I would be that way too if I thought without a doubt that is what the other classes community is trying to do but I am sorry you are very much mistaken about what the comparisons are even mentioned for.

I agree with most of this post. The old class-specific roles have been almost totally watered down and/or completely nullified. This really does need to be addressed and repaired. I miss the days when I used to be able to sneeze and not kill a tank because I missed a heal by a nanosecond. I used to have a spare nanosecond or two to recover and cast. Now, tanks can go from full health to dead in that first nanosecond or less because the mitigation is reliant on a hotkey rather than innate and maybe THEY sneezed too. I miss the days when tank plate class AC was the best in the game, chain class AC was less, leather class was even less and silky AC was still less. You absolutely HAD to watch your agro if you weren't a plate tank.

DPS classes should shine when it comes to DPS, tanks should be able to out-tank anyone/anything, pure healers should be the best healers, monks/bards should be the best pullers, chanters should be the best mezzers, etc. Different classes used to have different roles... Now, it's all being slowly poured into a blender with someone with a finger of the "liquify" button.

However, I have to disagree that things were more simple in the old days. The difference was that with the old class-specific roles, people actually had to work together, communicate and coordinate even in group content. We were actually encouraged to work together, and thereby socialize, by the content itself. Now, the old class-specific abilities are all but gone. The only hardcore communication, coordination and team-work needed is mostly for raiding.
