The Mischief overflow server

If I'm staring at a multi-hour queue to get into Mischief on Day One, but I was able to get up and running on the overflow server, approximately how long would I expect to wait before the two servers would merge?

I know it's all guesswork, and would depend on numbers, but would this be a couple of weeks? Or could the overflow server keep plugging along through Kunark, and maybe afterwards?

If they go this way and don't do a box friendly overflow server or change Mischief to being box friendly. I would guess it could take years, not months.

From what I can tell from a quick google search Ragefire launched on May 21, 2015, it's overflow Lockjaw launched 4 days later. They didn't get merged back together until May 20, 2020. So just shy of 5 years.

Unless they announce ahead of time that they will merge at a certain point, I'd assume they will never merge.

A lot of Vulak players assumed it would eventually be merged with Fippy, and four years later, after endless requests, when they finally opened transfers, almost no one was still around to take advantage of them. Lockjaw, pretty similar.

Overflow sounds like a misnomer to me if they won't merge for 5+ years, if ever. More like a second/additional server. Overflow sounds very temporary.

If they were going to do a box friendly server, it would have been part of the original announcement. That means they aren't. The second server is almost certain to be a clone in case there is too much demand for Mischief.

Okay, so unless Daybreak says anything differently between now and May 26th, I'll have to assume that starting on the second server is an irrevocable choice. Makes me think that I'll just have to tough out the long queues on the first few days until I can get into Mischief.

If I knew I could buy a transfer later, I would probably do it differently. Or if I knew precisely when the two servers were going to merge, perhaps I would as well.

There is something mildly appropriate about the difficulty I'm having planning how to tackle a server called "Mischief."

I agree with you, this was probably their initial plan, sometimes though, things change and new information arises and you need to change your decisions, most people are capable of change.
