Some of the font colors make my eyes bleed on this background. Other skin options would be nice. And I usually change font colors frequently. But lately it's been difficult to read My eyes!!!!
So, On 10/09/12 We had Virrago respond three (3) times. Also on 10/09/12 We had Rtugok respond. Out of the 4 responses we have gotten in over month none of them have actually responded to the questions about the forums. Are we going to be getting new skins or not?
New skins require work by our (SOE's) web artists, mostly busy with Planetside 2 at the moment. Then there are a number of other forums that still need any skin so we can convert them over. EQ has 2 skins currently, the regular skin and a non-fixed width option. Until all other SOE forums convert that's probably all we'll have. After that it's a possibility. A Dislike button will not be added. If the like button did not have extra functionality associated with it it might not have been kept either. Same place as always, the Community Manager. Feel free to remind him, he is forgetful.
That would be a violation of the forum rules. Saying +1 or /agree is not useful feedback (also against the rules). It adds nothing to the conversation. Similarly dislike or disagree is not useful. Basically that's just more chaff for us to sift through. We do not use it for any sort of weighting. Forums are bad for quantitative feedback. Forums are good for qualitative feedback. Posts that are valuable give us new insight into why, not how many.
So other than gaining some pretty useless points so far, what is the like button for again other than quantitative feedback?
Its just there so one can like every one of their own posts using a sockpuppet account. Gotta get them trophy points!
I considered this long and hard. The problem with your viewpoint is that this is not a conversation. This is more like an audience heckling a speaker. An audience response may be well-reasoned and give you a different perspective but it doesn't help you make a decision. Without applause or boos, you get no external validation of how your speech is being received by the audience. *.Lee of Povar- Voting for "disagree" buttons.
I'm sorry but there is no extra functionality that the Like button provides at all. You can subscribe yourself to a thread without posting or liking it, so that is just an extra thing that liking does not extra functionality. This is the exact reason why the like buttons should either be removed and replaced with agree and disagree buttons or simply just removed and nothing replacing it. There is no benefit to just having like.
For those complaining about the fixed-width, you can move it into Stretch-mode where it covers the entire window, in your preferences.
The only complaint I really have with the forum look is that I cannot edit a post. That make stickies a problem. They cannot be maintained or updated.
