The coming Coirnav Plane of Storms problem, lets fix it before PoP

They also specifically turned Harla Dar into a raid mob that spawns in the WW instance.
  2. qweasy Augur

The real problem with adding them to DZs is that they'll probably up just like they did with the praesertums and give them MoTM, turning them from group mobs into raid mobs. Which would be better for the rush at the start of PoP but flagging alts and boxes later would be a giant pain in the .

With the short TLP timelines for each expansion, this makes absolute sense! Let the masses experience the content, not the 99FTE garbage for keying.

didnt they do that so she was up more for the quest? also such an easy ID4 necklace factored in to why she was always dead/maybe too easy loot

You know what, you're right. Add these minis to the DZ. Give them MotM. Now they don't spawn in picks. Enjoy your 18 keys a week because that is all you will get even with agressive splitting. SOLVED.

I would make large wager that one of the people in here arguing for shorter times will screw up your server's namesake, locking yourself out.

Unless I missed it we never got a SolC AoC on Agnarr. Korucrust in Chardok B, and Zlandi were actual raid targets in era. At least that I’ve seen literally no LoY raids got AoCs, maybe they’ve added them since I left Agnarr I dunno. The Praesertums were also raid mobs in era. Pre-MOTM you could kill them in a single group with pet casters but that strategy came pretty late and wasn’t all that typical in era. I’ll note when they DID add Praesurtums to AoC instance on Agnarr they buffed them with MOTM and made them significantly harder, they didn’t just copy the base mobs into the AoC.
  8. DeseanJackson Augur

The Sol C AoC got added sometime between PoP-LDoN at Sol A ZI, but I have never tried to see if it works. Veksar got an AoC as well, but that has the undead dragon thing and I don’t know if that’s tied to LDoN or LoY.

It’s obvious the main point OP was making went right over your head. He isn’t asking to have things handed out on a silver platter, he’s asking them to consider adding spawns to a DZ so guilds can WORK on their key progression without all of the toxic players and competitive guilds that monopolize areas

the only people who’d be against these common sense changes are those elite raiders who play 24/7 and have the means to completely lock down and monopolize a spawn/zone.

This is a 3 month progression release cycle, which is way faster than the original content when it was first released in terms of keying up and doing in era content, so it makes good sense to alleviate some of the issues that arise from that and also to avoid the insanely toxic confrontations that will occur over these 6 spawns

Trying to straw man this and spin it to look like people are begging on their knees with their hands out for free stuff is a foolish and disingenuous argument. What you really mean to say is “I have the time and the means to monopolize those spawns, so don’t change anything so I can exploit that and profit from it while also blocking anyone else from progressing unless I want them to”

TLPs were designed for players to experience in era content again, not to be some fierce competition to monopolize rare spawns. I’ve grouped with and have guildmatea that don’t have jobs and are basically on 10+ hours a day. That’s great for them to get ahead in the game, but very few people have that kind of time available to grind out fighting with trainers and kill stealers for a 6 hour spawn. Adding them to a DZ still means that guilds have to work hard to key their members up, but makes it so that it’s just a big hill to climb and not an impassable mountain.

The entire Planes of Power expansion was not designed to be completed in a 3 month window. Logic and common sense suggest you should scale the key progression with the expansion cycle. People like you just see another opportunity to get a leg up on other guilds and set yourself up as the gatekeepers for other people to progress... probably so you can profit selling loot rights for Krono

Instead of making straw man arguments that have absolutely nothing to do with the original post, you should try to put together a half intillgent post stating why you think it’s a bad idea. You offered nothing to this thread with your 2 posts I’ve seen so far, just taking shots at people who disagree with you and trying to make them seem like they’re lazy or entitled

Don't worry, you have 6 months not 3!
  11. Junior00 Elder

Also, believe me, any "ole elite mean guild" will lock down what they need and move on. I don't think there was a single instance of people trying to sell LRs of the medallions on Agnarr and you have even fewer guilds going for the pieces.
  12. Critt Augur

wouldn't it do better to post this in the dev forums, I mean it's not a bad idea I just don't see the point of posting it here...
  13. DeseanJackson Augur

    1) Agnarr didn’t have many (if any) people selling this.
    2) PoP was not designed for every guild to complete it in era, typically one or two guilds per sever were in Time in era... after a year.
    3) We already have AoCs to speed this up, and address much of the issues.

Really, now that I think about it, the suggestion by OP completely changes the pace and style of PoP progression. Split raids, knock out 3-4 Storms DZs, done and never have to go back. Maybe that’s what some here want, but this wasn’t designed to be sped through like that.
  14. Thalliius Augur

That is just more reason to scale the progression with the release cycles. You stated only 2 guilds could even get keyed for PoTime in era with a year to do it. This expansion will be in era for only 3 months, so it seems logical to scale the keys with it accordingly

Also you’re referencing the original implementation of this content and its intention for progression. That was 15+ years ago when it was original content, now it’s on a TLP which was designed for everyone to be able to experience content in era

That was like one of their mission statements or descriptions of the TLP servers

It’s not good for the game or health of the server if only 2 guilds are able to progress to plane of time and everyone else gets left behind because of artificial bottlenecks designed to be huge time sinks over the course of a full calendar year
  15. DeseanJackson Augur

I meant more that it is already sped up. AoCs give all guilds access to a zone weekly they otherwise wouldn’t be able to see without luck or the top guilds moving on. The change suggested speeds it up too much, and removes/trivializes group flagging content (even if it isn’t utilized that way at first). PoP only has one real hurdle (note hurdle, not road block) for progression, and this essentially removes it.

I do think there is some changes that could be made to help reduce the toxic environment. If they do get added to the DZ, just a guild wide lockout, and/or not guaranteeing the medallion droppers are up in a DZ (% chance, or something, idk).
  16. Junior00 Elder

1-2 guilds per server completing POP was more because of locking out people on Solro/EP Gods, not BoT. Storms is seriously a farm fest for 2 weeks at the start for pretty much everyone to be done and then a ghost town.
  17. sieger Augur

All this stuff about only two guilds, months of waiting etc is dumb. People did this on Phinny and Agnarr. Over 10 guilds on both servers had killed Quarm by like week 4. Past the two week mark it wasn't even the bottle neck, I know a lot of the lower tier guilds on Agnarr had a lot more trouble actually beating the Time bosses than they ever did with the PoStorms key pieces. If you're a lower tier guild with bad gear the nasty AEs in PoTime 4/5 and hard hitting bosses that shred poorly geared tanks will be a much bigger blocker than PoStorms will ever be.

There are six "minis" in Storms, dropping 3 medallions each. Roughly every ~5 hours (at least when we did our 30 hour farm on PoP launch there was minor variance to the spawn timers and I know some respawned faster than the 6 hours being bandied about) this means you can get 18 medallions, which flags 9 people. This means 100 hours into the expansion, upward of 360 total medallions should have been generated which is enough to flag 180 people. At about a week in, there should have been around 600 medallions dropped which gets 300 people flagged. For reference sake, when FE did this at launch we stopped at the 60 flag mark because there's no reason to actually get more than that. Due to the piggy system 60 was enough for basically all our raiders, with some becoming piggies. We popped split instances of Storms (the raid level Lords are in the AoC and give you 4.5 flags between them) to fill in some gaps and some people would go in and snatch their own if they were stragglers.

The above timeline is actually a conservative estimate because doesn't factor in pickzones, on Agnarr at least we kept 4 picks open like for a day+, and I think for the first couple weeks there were never less than 2 picks open, often more. This rapidly multiplies the rate of flagging. The raid lords also respawn every ~24 hours and while that's not a huge additional source, they also drop 3 medallions per.

Keep in mind you won't be sitting on your hands doing nothing if you're in a guild so casual that you're crying on message boards wanting PoStorms changed. All the things you can do without having BoT access:

    1. Level to 65
    2. Grind AAs--You'll need both 1/2 to beat PoTime and Ele Planes if you're in a guild so casual you're scared at the prospect of the medallion farm in PoStorms.
    3. HoJ trials
    4. Hedgemaze
    5. Grummus
    6. MB in PoI
    7. PoValor/Aerin'dar
    8. Carprin + Bertoxx in CoD
    9. Terris Thule in NightmareB
    10. The Zek brothers in PoTactics
    11. LMM in HoHB
    12. Saryrn in Torment (you'll need someone to get the key for her tower, too.)
    13. RZ in PoTactics

For a casual guild that's a lot of raiding, I wouldn't be shocked if you wipe/struggle with some of those fights the first time, either. Meanwhile when you're not working on those raids your guildies can be slowly accumulating PoStorms medallions and BoT access, you should be doing the Storm Lords in AoC every lockout etc. I honestly was sleep deprived last time I did PoP so I can't remember for sure on the convoluted Sol Ro tower flagging, but I think you may be able to get into Sol Ro tower without the Agnarr flag (I think it's linked to having Saryrn and RZ.) You do need Marr/Saryrn/Agnarr/RZ/Bertox to get into any of the elementals + you need Sol Ro to get into PoFire. So basically you're really just locked out of the ele planes for a bit, but that's basically how PoP was designed, getting into the ele planes is supposed to be hard. My guild put in a lot of time and a ton of hard work to be in ele planes a couple days into PoP on Agnarr, it shouldn't be a trivial or easy process.

It also significantly speeds up the first Quarm kill for whoever the top guild is, I don't really think they need to make it easier for that reason alone. A server top guild will likely be able to run like 10 splits of PoStorms and get 180 flags / 60 people keyed BOOM, done in an hour or two. PoP is already easy enough compared to its original form 16 years ago.
  19. Jimbucktwo New Member

I really don't think it matters if Quarm is killed one day earlier.

This is a super simple fix, just put it in and lets move on.
  20. Dythan Ban Lev in Plane of Fire guy

To call this a fix, means it's currently broken. It's not, as many many people have pointed out. People willing to do the "work" will get it first, rest of you will have to wait a day. The horror.
