    Cairbrae,

Please understand that many players are non-technical people. That page is confusing to them. There are many files there to download and they have zero clue as to which one to get.

I, being rather technical, believe that what you mean is for them to download and run from that page:
    X64
Permalink for latest supported x64 version. The X64 Redistributable package contains both ARM64 and X64 binaries. This package makes it easy to install required Visual C++ ARM64 binaries when the X64 Redistributable is installed on an ARM64 device.

Please check and confirm that I am correct. All the other files on that page just add more confusion and people don't know which to get and what to do.

    Thank you.

Crashed to desktop entering world with my character camped in Shar Vahl, Divided.

I was able to zone into PoK after re-test copying from that zone. Zoning into The Feerrott and Ferrott, the Dream in game worked, although the textures in the latter look materially worse on Test. Zoning into Shar Vahl, Divided then crashed me to desktop.

Clicking and Holding to put an item on a hotbar or a spell gem is resulting in the item/spell gem being offset from the tip of my cursor and the click and hold putting the wrong item on the tip of the cursor. Both errors seem to have the same offset associated with this bug[IMG]

Thank you for sticking up for us non-techies...I am the exact confused person you are talking about. According to what I can figure out, all of my specs meet or exceed what is on that first page, except when it comes to graphics card, which my best sleuthing appears to show is not one of the listed ones but is Intel HD Graphics 4600. And I appear to have Directx 12? Can that be right, do I need to install 11?
  6. Fanra https://everquest.fanra.info

If you have DirectX 12 you do not need to install DirectX 11.

You're correct and thanks for adding clarity.

Let me clear up any confusion about this particular issue. The issue of EQGraphicsDX9.dll not loading isn't because of DirectX 11 itself. It's because it brings with it a new dependency to a file (VCOMP140.DLL) that some people don't have. The file is in the X64 Redistributable package from Microsoft. Once you install that you should be able to launch the game.

If players have Direct X 12 will this be an issue? If so, perhaps some mention of it when patching the game could be in order. It does seem to me that this roll-out has the potential to cause a LOT of issues and any steps you could take to head that off would save loads of bad PR and lots of time needlessly wasted. That having been said, thank you for engaging the players. I/we appreciate it.

Can't enter game or do anything on test. Specifically Korafax DZ
Locks at the same time... every time.

You guys gonna extend '100% bonus chance for rare creatures to spawn and to faction gains and losses' portion of Fall Fun for the TEST server? ;)
  12. Cairbrae Developer

No it shouldn't. Both DX11 and DX12 are bundled with Windows 10 and later, and managed by Windows Update.

I have both the x32 and x64 versions of Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable 14.36.32532

When searching my drive for VCOMP140.dll, I see about 20 of them across different installations of programs and in my windows\Systems32 and windows\SysWOW64 directories. Which directory should this .dll be in for Everquest to use it?

If you really want to be sure about this you can download process explorer from here:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer#download

Run that. Go to View -> Lower Pain View and select DLLs. Then when you select everquest you get something like this:

I'm not technical. I don't know what this means.

Can I still play EverQuest? If so, what can I do to fix this? If not, what is preventing me from doing so?
  17. kizant Augur

The highest feature level is 11_0 and you need 11_1 according to the DirectX 11 thread. That video card may just be too old.

A minor issue, at best, but /viewport, which heretofore had a black background for the area outside the playing area, now has a light gray color.
