Teek Commonlands spam causes sensory overload

Discussion in 'Time Locked Progression Servers' started by Creepin, Jun 4, 2024.

Teek Commonlands spam has on average 500-600 people auctioning at any given time and its causing sensory overload for some people, myself and another mentioned it happened to them as well. Could possibly be a health risk.

I wish there was some way to "freeze" the chat scroller in place. I've had a hell of a time trying to read for items I want and then when something flies by, its hard as hell to click the person's name to tell to them

One thing I hate about having that many people in the zone buying and selling is that when you scroll up in chat, the chat window doesn't keep where you were at if new messages come in. I wish the chat window would stop scrolling so you can read stuff. This way stuff doesn't keep zooming by when you are trying to find an item or the name of who was selling it.

You can freeze it in place to a certain extent. You need to filter your channels and put just /auc in a different window. Then you have a lot longer to hold an item where you want it before it reaches the limit. Another thing you can do, though it is less useful, is to /log your chat and then open up the text file and search for the item you wanted. It will show you who was auctioning it. I suggest though that you clear your logs at a regular interval if you do this.

can you just create a spam window and put auction/ooc/general/shout into it? Then you can minimize the window and never have to look at it

I move auctions to a hidden window and just report as spam anyone selling in /ooc.

Health risk? That’s a new one lmao. Y’all are getting too creative with your whining.

Wait, you report people for using OOC to communicate out of character, in the commons? You actually report people for that?

For listing AUCTIONS in OOC instead of in the AUCTIONS channel? Hell yes I do.

Do you know what OOC means? It means out of character. You can list anything out of character in it.

If only there was some way of filtering auction spam to another window or tab so it doesn't cause a sensory overload.

Look, if you can't figure out why people would be annoyed at you using the wrong channel for auctioning items, that's on you. There's a channel explicitly for selling items that allows people not interested to filter it out and still have a useful channel for actual OOC conversations. Also I'm not sure what you are trying to get at with this reply, they're listing in character items for sale for in character currency.

It would help if we had another NPC parcel vendor as well in the Commonlands tunnel. When you have 20 ogres and 100 people crowing the sole parcel vendor it gets a bit frustrating.
  15. Vetis Augur

People said it but I'll echo.

Create a new tab or chat window, filter auction into it, minimize it. Hell you can even fade it to 0 or push it into a corner where you can't even see it.

Then if you're buying gear, just go to the tlp auction website. (google aradune auctions) or use the link someone listed above. Put in the name of the item you're buying or selling and you can see people's character name and date/time stamp of when they WTS/WTB'd the item. Then just send them a tell.

Also, if you're just trying to enjoy Commonlands, there are multiple picks of it, pick over.

To report someone over this is next level petty.

I've actually sold some stuff just by using /say at the tunnel entrance instead of /auction. Makes it easier to see and they know I'm really close.

    Think about this though.

Why did they make the new UI.

You would like an upgrade in UI, like scroll lock thingy?
Well they'll do it but you will likely have to use the NEW UI. Thats the catch.
Why should they waste time doing something in old UI, and new UI, thats not DRY, they are repeating code old and new in that situation.

One thing people have to realize too, its the commonlands, people wanted old school vibe. Thats why they play TLP.

Anyways, some people don't like adjusting their UI after they set it.
But easy solution is if your in Commonlands and your looking to trade. Move your Chat.
Make your chat half the screen or the entire screen, now stuff doesn't move so quickly because your utilizing the entire screen and its not just 8 lines of text as where people usually have their chat as default to around 8 lines of text.

use the entire screen for chat, now you got like 80 lines of text. Readable now to some degree compared to 8.

    Chose a different pick. Silence.

I'm sure you're aware of /hidemodels players, but a simple hotkey on your commonlands mule can make it a bit easier.
