Teek and Anniversary Tower - a Lose/Lose?

The Shroud of Veeshan, one of a grand total of 5 healing focus items pre-PoP? This is the worst possible example you couldve listed, because once focus effects go live, the only options are this, the aaryonar mask (whoops Tower gear), the idol from The Hole that isnt very good, the Acrylia cloak (tower gear), or priest VT pants. No one who actually plans to play through Luclin will allow Shroud of Veeshan to be alted.

I am doing the tower quests as they were intended, with a group of friends. We have only done the first two. It's tricky getting us all on at the same time. You trivialized the tower for yourself and then complained that it was trivial. That's on you. I am also not in a guild at all. I have raided these expansions enough I don't need to do it again. I'm just casually meandering through the game at my own pace, camping my own gear and enjoying every minute of it. Not even 60 yet. Having a blast. Not RMTing anything, I don't even participate in the economy until Luclin. Can't stand the tunnel.

Is that the group you thought I was in? Cause that is the group I am in. The group of casual players that doesn't really care what other people do or how they choose to gear themselves.

Yeah, it's awesome. The gear I get in raids will go to personas. Leveling as a twinked character in EQ is what sets EverQuest apart from most other MMORPGS... it's actually 90% of the reason I play EQ. I LOVE leveling twinked alts.

At no point will the tower gear hinder raiding. It might shift focus to other items when bidding DKP competitively, but who cares. This server is for fun.

The only downside to the tower gear is in your own mind.

I like a fun chart. I wont bother with all of them, because I'm sure the Barbarian only Innoruuk belt and the 0AC 30hp melee mask from Sleeper's tomb are a great loss, but lets be real here. Anything with good haste, a good focus effect, and high AC will absolutely outplay tower gear in Velious. Furthermore, some of the items you listed are unique, as theyre needed for dungeon keying, or their clickies are used for years.

Honestly, now is your chance to get the gear you like on the cheap, as several other folks will do because they dont like the tower, dont feel like doing it, and dont feel like paying for it.

This forum is known for it's really garbage takes, but I gotta say the people convincing themselves that being handed gear that invalidates half of your kit won't end up having a detrimental effect is....something. else.

It can't and won't. EQ is a social game and for fun. EQ is not real life. It's 5/21 slots my guy.

Then why do you care so much about the tower? Why be so passionate about keeping something on her that is effecting the rest of the player base of...you don't care?

I don't. Take it, leave it. I enjoy having it in but if they took it I wouldn't throw a tantrum and quit. Pretty sure most of the player base doesn't actually care that strongly one way or another. I haven't seen any massive outcry in game nor people quitting in droves. I am not replying because I am passionate about the tower, but because I am ambivalent to it's impact on the game. It's not some great evil that threatens our great game, it's just some gear that is a bit more powerful than what you would normally get.

Using the The level 65 mask as a comparison, it is comparable at best to something from the Ikkinz group missions, and if you'll notice, there's still no focus effects and the atk/FT stats on them still are mediocre. Also, the Ikkinz group gear can use type 8 raid augs, which is more than the tower gear can say.

Actually I undersold it in total damage, it did a 511~ dmg nuke and a dot that did ~250 dd + 275ish tic for 1.4 minutes, so 4k~ damage in those two casts, slightly more than 1k in 7 seconds. It was moot point though because the nuke+ one tic was enough to kill my guy from full health.

I mean, are playing on Teek? If so you are already playing on a server that may as well have the /buff command. I think the popularity of Teek shows that, contrary to what I had thought and hoped, most people really do want to just log in and be handed their pixels.

There is going to be a massive amount of worthless gear on a random loot free trade server that has an increased drop rate. And those 12 slots are going to open up over the year meaning you will need to fill it with something until they get opened.

Not sure what you are getting at, I replied to a post that seemed to be complaining about the tower gear making a lot of gear useless.

I was 24 at the time. I assume you were trying to solo it, which would have been your mistake. So take from that what you will. I just wanted to call you out for claiming it had a 1.2k nuke at level 25, which it does not.

People dont care to even look into things like this. They see something that they think is bad and they just jump onto whatever train is already moving. This gear impacts the first 6 months of the server, and then it doesnt matter (to an extent, its always gonna be great for easy gear on new toons, or boxes etc). But on a server where almost everyone is BiS raid geared by next xpac, it will be phased out before its even gone.

Go look at my original post, I said he did X damage with two casts. Which is true, he did 511+250+(275*14) or ~4600 damage with two casts, me dying before the spell wears off isn't exactly germane to the statement which was true (although me hedging my bet and doing lazy mental math had me underestimate the damage those two spells would do by about 50%).
