Yes. Looks like Vitio will be the main source of spells in TDS. And Tita's Ghost when it gets tuned properly or when we outgear it.

Defense of the City - loot from 37 wins
    Per win: 1.57 Gloves (58 in 37), 0.46 Cultural augs (17 in 37), 1.57 weapons (58 in 37), 1.14 Earring (42 in 37), 0.22 Charms (8 in 37), 0.16 Tita's Incapacitating Cincture (6 in 37), 2.83 101-103 Spells (82 in 29)

All templates have been reported as drops. I'm satisfied with the sample size and will no longer update drops for this event especially with the additional confirmation from Axxius that armor drop rate from Arx 2-4 is 1.567 pieces per win and currently the reported kills of Defense are at 1.568 Gloves per win.

    Spells are most likely something like: 40% - 2 Spells, 30% - 3 Spells, 30% - 4 Spells (this would be 2.9 per win).

    Captain Tita's Ghost - loot reported from 9 wins (4 RoI, 1 MS, 1 P&G, 1 RA, 2 Other)

    Per win: 1 Armor (9 in 9), 0.6 2nd Armor (5 in 9), 0.6 Cultural aug (5 in 9), 1.7 weapons (15 in 9), 1 Non-Vis (9 in 9), 0.4 2nd Non-Vis (4 in 9), 1 Proc Belt/Click (9 in 9), 4 101-105 spells (24 in 6)

First report of 2 Armor without one being Gloves so it's just random slots. It simply takes too large of a sample size to have any reasonable certainty that Enc Ear from Arx1 or BP from Ghost drops less often.

Principal Quastori Numicia - loot reported from 8 wins (4 RoI, 3 Inverse, 1 RoV)

    Per win: 0.6 Arms (5 in 8), 0.6 Wrist (5 in 8), 0.4 Cultural augs (3 in 8), 1 Face (8 in 8), 1 Range (8 in 8), 1.6 Weapons (13 in 8), 0.3 Proc Belts/Clicks (2 in 8), 1.5 Spells (3 in 2)

Principal Vicarum Nomia - loot reported from 7 wins (4 RoI, 2 Inverse, 1 Triton)

    Per win: 1 Arms (7 in 7), 0.6 Wrist (4 in 7), 0.9 Cultural aug (6 in 7), 1 Ring (7 in 7), 0.7 Ring/Shield (5 in 7), 1.4 Weapons (10 in 7), 0.1 Proc Belt/Clicks (1 in 7), 2 Spells (4 in 2)

Principal Indagatrix Lucia - loot reported from 6 wins (4 RoI, 1 Inverse, 1 Triton)

    Per win: 0.7 Wrist (4 in 6), 0.5 Feet (3 in 6), 0.2 Legs (1 in 6), 0.8 Cultural aug (5 in 6), 1 Neck (6 in 6), 1 Belt (6 in 6), 1.7 Weapons (10 in 6), 0.2 Proc Belt/Clicks (1 in 6), 1 Spell (2 in 2)

Praetor Vitio - loot reported from 4 wins (3 RoI, 1 Triton)

    Per win: 1 Armor (4 in 4), 0.8 2nd Armor (3 in 4), 0.3 Cultural aug (1 in 4), 1 Non-Vis (4 in 4), 0.3 2nd Non-Vis (1 in 4), 1.8 Weapons (7 in 4), 1 Proc Belt/Click (4 in 4), 4 Spells (8 in 2)

Calix Quirinus - loot reported from 1 win (1 RoI)

    Per win: 2 Head (2 in 1), 0 BP (0 in 1), 0 Cultural (0 in 1), 1 Shoulders (1 in 1), 1 Back (1 in 1), 1 Weapon (1 in 1), 0 Proc Belt/Clicks (0 in 1)

    Defense Loot Table (Arx1):
    1 Glove, 1 Weapon, 1 Ear/Charm, 2 101-103 Spells seems to be guaranteed.
    57% chance at 2nd Glove, Chance at 2nd Weapon, 2nd Ear/Charm, Proc Belt/Click, Cultural aug, 3rd-4th 101-103 Spells.

    Principal Loot Tables (Arx 2-4):
1 Armor, 1 Weapon, 1 Spell is guaranteed.
    1 Face & 1 Range from Arx2, 1 Ring & chance at Ring/Shield from Arx3, 1 Neck & 1 Belt from Arx4.
57% chance at 2nd Armor expected based on Axxius relayed info, 38% to date
Chance at 2nd Weapon, Proc Belt/Click, Cultural aug and 2nd-3rd Spells.

    Calix Quirinus Loot Table (Arx5):
1 Armor, 1 Weapon most likely guaranteed
1 Shoulder and 1 Back probably guaranteed
Chance at 2nd armor, probably chance at Cultural, 2nd Weapon and Proc Belt/Click
    Spells Unknown

One-Off Loot Tables (Ghost & Vitio)
    1 Armor, 1 Weapon, 1 Non-Vis, 1 Proc Belt/Click is guaranteed, Probably 3 Spells guaranteed.
Chance at 2nd Armor, 2nd Weapon, 2nd Non-Vis, Cultural aug and 4th-5th Spells.

No reports of RoI getting a Spell Rune on everyone's cursor which means that RoI beating 7 raids every week for a year will be pretty well set for spells a year from now. Inverse, Triton, SoD, RoV and MS not so much. 20 or so other guilds who have beaten one TDS progression raid even less so.

10 or so other guilds who beat all CotF Progression raids but no TDS progression raids, SOE has decided that after the "mistake" of CotF that Candyland is closed and you don't even deserve a word of warning.

Going by guilds voluntarily reporting to EGL so it's not accurate but it's close, harken back to the UF "mistake" and see if they learned anything. First line tracks bottom end of "mid-tier", an arbitrary but useful distinction:

Guilds completing SoD before UF: 59
Guilds beating 1 UF raid in first month: 18 or 31%
Guilds beating 2 or more UF raids in first month: 8 or 14%

Guilds completing 4 or more UF raids before Thule: 55
Guilds beating 1 Thule raid in first month: 34 or 62%
Guilds beating 2 or more Thule raids in first month: 8 or 15%

Guilds completing 7 or more Thule raids before VoA: 55
Guilds beating 1 VoA raid in first month: 51 or 93%
Guilds beating 2 or more VoA raids in first month: 27 or 49% (requires 3 wins to flag for 2nd)

Guilds completing 4 or more VoA raids before RoF: 59
Guilds beating 1 RoF progression raid in first month: 32 or 54%
Guilds beating 2 or more RoF progression raids in first month: 24 or 41%

Guilds completing 8 or more RoF raids before CotF: 49
Guilds beating 1 CotF raid in first month: 46 or 94%
Guilds beating 2 or more CotF raids in first month: 32 or 65%

Guilds completing 8 or more CotF raids before TDS: 48
Guilds beating 1 TDS raid in first month: 25 or 52%
Guilds beating 2 or more TDS progression raids in first month: 6 or 13% (requires 4 wins to flag for 2nd)

Nope, didn't learn a thing, UF, Ritual of Terror, TDS. Randomly mixed in with Sarith, Danela and Xulous. No plan, no communication, not a halfling given. You're in our world now.

Constructive, oh dear god constructive, I guess it's my job not only to identify issues but also to fix them because after all I'm collecting a paycheck from SOE, oh wait, I'm not, but I'll do your job for you anyways.

The most important thing is a base of useful and relevant raids. The 11 most recently released raids would qualify as a base. 4 of those drop no spells, they should drop TDS Raid runes. The focus effects from those raids should be extended to 105. They should all have the same flagging requirements as Argin-Hiz (only requester needs prior raid credit) or Plane of War (no flagging at all) or only require flags from other T2 raids.

Keeping the eight T1 raids as flagging requirements does nothing but place an additional hurdle in front of low end guilds, there is no reason to worry about slowing down those guilds, you should only be interested in helping those guilds.

Now guilds have pretty easy access to 6 or so 101-103 raid runes per week (Defense level range combined with Principal quantities) beating AH, ToRot and JHome and you further justify the time spent developing PoWar by increasing it's relevance.

Worst case guilds have the surety (and even single target Rk.3 now) that it's no worse than VoA as they have Argath/Sarith/Valley vs AH/ToRot/JHome, Beast Domain vs Defense of the City and Time and Tides/Two Sides vs PoWar/Ghost.

Guilds can easily plan a raid week revolving around that quantity of raids and you keep 104-105 spells on your bizarre plan to make guilds take a year or so to acquire the spells and then perversely hope the 2015 expansion doesn't increase the level cap so they can actually use the spells for an extended period of time even if they weren't high on DKP/Merit in Top 20ish guild.

Holidays coming up, 2 weeks or so before a patch so you're looking at Jan or Feb patch to salvage the bottom end of mid-tier raiding guilds before they fold. Oh wait, I know what doesn't take all that long, communication.

Post in Sense Heading. Even if you're not going to make these changes, even if you're not going to make any changes. POST IN SENSE HEADING. As someone accessing a rarely used board account posted "you know us", we do, now work on turning that into a positive thing. COMMUNICATE.

Or you know delete this post and ban me again, that will solve everything.

I think Maeryn has put more thought into all of this than the people(person?) who decided the drop rates.
  4. Axxius Augur

Btw, another Lucia kill with only 1 spell. I'll get the lists later. But either RoI, IL and Triton all have extremely bad luck, or AM4 has a lower (if not zero) chance of dropping the 2nd spell.
  5. Deillusional Augur

We got 2 spells on our lucia kill yesterday:

You say to your guild, 'Collio Scribia, Unguisio Lumbius, Frendia, Darkwater Boots, Darkwater Bracer, Greater Essence of the Citadel, '
You say to your guild, 'Median Essence of the Citadel'

Winning every progression raid 50 times inventory paper doll style gearing 50 people, One Offs randomly help, currency also helps, this is mainly advice on how to spend currency after factoring in your guild's class distribution, size and RNG:

Left Ear: 1 every Arx1 win, covered
Neck: 1 every Arx4 win, covered
Face: 1 every Arx2 win, covered
Head: probably average around 39 from Arx5 (1.57 / 2 * 50) <-- non-RoI currency goes here unless enough people have and are still happy with RoF Burden
Right Ear: probably average around 7 <----- currency goes here

Left Ring: 1 every Arx3 win, covered
Left Wrist: average 1 every Arx 2-4 clear, covered
Arms: probably covered by average 1 per Arx 2-4 clear
Hands: from Arx1 one of the most common drops in the expansion, covered
Right Wrist: probably average around 29 per Arx 2-4 clear (0.57 * 50), partly covered
Right Ring: best guess around 25, still tiny sample size <---- currency probably goes here

Shoulders: 1 every Arx5 win, covered, very covered if your guild won and/or does win a lot of CotF raids
    BP: probably average around 39 from Arx5 (1.57 / 2 * 50) <-- non-RoI currency goes here
Back: 1 every Arx5 win, covered
Waist: 1 every Arx4 win, covered, massive number of Waist drops unless your guild doesn't win One Offs
Legs: probably covered by average 1 per Arx 2-4 clear
Feet: probably covered by average 1 per Arx 2-4 clear

Primary: insanely covered by volume, possible your guild will get shafted by the RNG for a specific weapon or two
Secondary: insanely covered by volume for Zerk (lol), Rng, Rog, Bst, Monk, Bard and some Priests and a decent number of Mage, Wiz and Enc who go the Zerk route <-- Shield user currency goes here

Range: 1 every Arx2 win, covered, additional coverage from Bows
Ammo: Venenium doesn't actually fit here but why doesn't it have any stats?
Charm: probably average around 11 <------ currency goes here
Powersource: have never dropped directly from raids

Oh and Spells: incredibly screwed if you're not in RoI, somewhat screwed if you're in RoI for 104-105 spells. Incredibly screwed if you haven't beaten Defense yet, somewhat screwed if you have, "reasonably" set for important spells if you've already beaten Arx2 for 101-103.
  7. Axxius Augur

Lv 104 spells drop reasonably often in AM2-4. But lv 105 is the 'incredibly screwed' territory. It seems to only drop from AM5, maybe a very rare chance from AM2-4, and a random 3.5/5 chance from the one-offs, i.e. Vitio and AM5 are the main source of it, and the number of them dropping is ridiculuosly small compared to all other levels. While they are the most valuable for most classes.
  8. Maeryn Augur

Best case I'd think would be three 104 from Arx 2-4 out of 5 spells (currently 4.5 but best case assumes it trends up) and one 104 from each One Off and Arx5.

6 x 50 = 300 or 4 per person with even the smallest of rosters and lowest of turnover, aka somewhere around 4 per for RoI. So maybe they are set for those as well as 101-103, I mean 1 Rune per person every 3 months for far and away the #1 guild in the game sounds right. Oh wait, it doesn't.

"Only" Inverse Logic and it's 76 people who have raided since Nov 18th. 175 people who have raided in the last year even if they don't purge/merge people who deguild. Few or possibly no Arx5 or Ghost wins in 2014.

That's pretty screwed to me if "core members" of Inverse raid the entire expansion and get 2-3 104 runes. Sure, getting one probably does the trick for me, I can use a different instant and I've foolishly/cautiously never been a fan of rains.

    Scroll: Ethereal Rimeblast Rk. II
    Scroll: Magmatic Burst Rk. II
    Scroll: Rimeblast Cascade Rk. II
Scroll: Doomscale Husk Rk. II, Scroll: Flashchar Rk. II
Scroll: Skyblaze Pillar Rk. II, Scroll: Yulin's Pyroblade Rk. II

But if for a Top 5 guild farming the expansion the entire year it would be incredibly hard to justify getting all your Rk.3 104 spells, that's unreasonable by the standards of every previous expansion, for Top 5 the minimum expectation is by the summer of 2015 it "should" be:

    - I don't have all my 104s yet, but I don't really use the ones I don't have Rk.3 yet
    - go ahead and loot it

Because if a Top 5 guild doesn't have spell saturation it means terrible things for the 20ish, 40ish and 50ish guilds. Wizard in a guild who hasn't beaten Defense yet and isn't planning to change guilds? Choose focus priorities on the assumption you will have Eth Fire/Magic or Eth Cold/Magic, expecting both a 104 and 105 Rune anytime soon just because you're in the 30ish or so guild is quite possibly expecting too much.

Ethereal Fuse and a 36sec recast timer? Axxius will probably be casting that, if you don't join his or a similar guild and have very high attendance you would be a halfling to "blow" an Essence on a spell you can cast 9 times on a 5min fight.

If Narendi/Telanara Rk.3 scrolls don't get uploaded by someone using /testcopy to fill in missing items on Lucy you really have to wonder how much that person hates the other people in their guild.

Spear or RxS Mages? Start discussing it now, getting two 105 runes anytime soon and keeping your dignity is a big reach.

Of course depending on your loot and spell distribution system this might not be at all true but in terms of raw numbers of drops it is. Your own knowledge of your own guild is much better basis for knowing when you will get things, but getting things sooner just means other people in your guild are waiting that much longer so it applies to some people in your guild.

Of course crushing weapons for Essences would go a long way to solving this, for whatever reason the expansion that decided to make caster "weapons" really rare has it's usual truckload of rotting weapons just around the corner.

Not a great solution for alts or FV but mains and every other server are a lot more important and this would be the 2nd simplest fix after properly itemizing raids and the ship seems to have already sailed on the easiest option.

Maybe sell the crush container for Nobles, that's the kind of thing worth limited Dev time.
  9. Deillusional Augur

We could hope for the patch message: "The amount of spells that drop from Arx Raids have been changed to what was originally intended".
  10. Marshall Maathers Augur

    And suddenly they stop dropping.
Esero, Edrick, Deillusional and 3 others like this.
  11. Iila Augur

And the one-shot chests get cut in half.
  12. Axxius Augur

    Wizards got kinda lucky here.

Of the lv 104 spells listed above, only one is half-useful (Ethereal Rimeblast). Given the amount of gloves (ice focus) dropping from AM1 and how hard it will be to get lv 105 fire nuke, using ice will be a viable alternative for some wizards. But normally we only cast that spell when Improved Twincast is running. The rest of lv 104 is junk, trash and garbage.

Ethereal Fuse is currently bugged and lv 100 Ethereal Weave rk3 is still used. Hopefully it gets fixed by the time most wizards obtain two lv 105 spells (we only need 2, Ethereal Skyblaze first).

But there are classes who want all or almost all of their lv 105's (ENC SHM NEC BRD RNG). Now, those people are totally screwed.

And only 1 pair of gloves from AM1. Shocking!
  16. Corlen-Xeg Elder

AM1 could drop 54 gloves in one chest and it wouldn't make a difference in the grand scheme of things. We'll all be drowning in gloves soon enough.

Mistakes were made by placing gloves first drop instead of bracers.

Two ENC template items (ear AM1 and belt AM4) this cycle. So they do drop.

But... belt. ENC template. Super rare. For the chanters who don't want the Good Rare belts. Really?
