TBM: Deadline Quest. Any suggestions?

Casual player that boxes and plays with a couple friends here.

Is there ANY WAY to survive the 6 swarmers without being raid geared and/or trying to glitch them to the top and druid kite them for an hour? We usually play Mage/Necro/Necro/Shammy/Chanter + Merc Healer (or 2x Merc's and no Shammy) All in Crypt-Hunter/TBM Gear with 13k+ AA's.

If they were the swarmers from near the crypts, I think we'd be alright on this step, but the 12k+ hits x 6 swarmers = Insta Death for the most part. Non-Snareable, non-CC, etc. Just feels like the Devs are "Zerging Us!" lol

Any constructive input would be welcome.

Some things are just hard to do without some sort of tank. Not always but this seems one. You certainly have the DPS to burn through them quickly you just need to keep them busy.

Maybe try to get a war/sk/pal to help you with this. They can use discs and ae agro to make this very manageable while you burn down a few and make it trivial.

This is one of the reasons EQ is slowly dying ,stuff like this , mind you I did pass it with guild help , but I don't see group geared players beating this often .....This will be the Derv made bottle neck , 6 swarm mobs hitting for 9k+ each ........And zero CC of any kind , that I have seen .....

It's not a gear issue - it's that they are trying to beat the event with a group that doesn't include a tank.
You can argue what mages should or should not be able to tank, but that's a different issue.

Group geared tanks can handle this.

As for suggestions, I'd suggest either asking a tank for help, or having the chanter tank them. (I've done this as a group geared chanter.)

This is not the best setup for that particular group mission; albeit it can be done. Here is my suggestion:

    1. Mage takes on the top 3-4 on ext. target window, three at bare minimal. Use an Earth Pet w/ Taunt On - Make sure you have major pet defenses going + talon, then robe click. Your Earth pet should be able to grab at least 2-3 of those things. With your pet having 2-3 of those things under control, send your ruthless servant on the next mob on ext. target not being tanked by your pet. You are going to be sending in these ruthless servants non-stop. You're going to have to be very fast.

    2. Have your two Necros target the 2 mobs on ext. target that the Mage is not handling - have them send in their pets with lots of dots; if they are rootable - punting & root rotting will be ideal.

    3. Have your Shaman do back up heal splashes to the whole group. Make sure your Healer Merc is set to balanced at the start of the fight, otherwise - he will get heal aggro and be the first to get run over. Once the fight starts - and everyone has grabbed their respective mob - you can set him to reactive.

    4. Have your Chanter run IOG (illusions of grandeur) - which will increase the DPS of your casting group 10 fold. Any AOE DPS will help as well. Also - it wouldn't be a bad idea to try and charm one of those mobs from the instance and send them in to help DPS; you will have to keep an eye on him though and re-charm as necessary.

You are literally going to have assign the mobs the Mage isn't handling to each person. If the Mage is going to grab the top 3 on ext. target w/ earth pet & ruthless servants - then Necro #1 will need to grab mob #4, Necro #2 will need to grab mob #5, and the Chanter will need to grab mob #6.

This takes some creativity, but it can be done.

add a tank and load AE stun on the enchanter and this will be easy, alternately put mag pet on 1 and mag swarm pet on another, and an tbm geared enc should be able to tank the last 4 long enough to burn them down be sure to have Color shock enabled and SCS off, and have Veil of mindshadow and eldrich rune up and ready to reuse, and be sure to cast unity rune before eldritch so the ae stun triggers 1st and be sure to buff with Shield of faith and Ward of the enticer.

and keep Forceful Rejuvination aa ready for quick reuse of ae stun/unity rune.

If they are charmable, it would be a good place to use Edict of Command, for the fixed timer.

Totally. Grouping in a MMO, that's crazytalk. *rolls eyes*

I don't think EQ is dying - I think its just on its usual mid-year downswing, but that is a personal opinion basing it on our average online numbers w/ our team. Perhaps what keeps EQ alive is the camaraderie of our team mates. I mean, without our friends - what would EQ really be, you know?

This is my honest opinion after completing the TBM expansion, I think it was designed to force not only to rely on making 6 player groups; but make groups consistent of various makeups where various class types are absolutely crucial to the success of a mission, and I think Tower of Rot mission #2 really set a precedent to that.

For example, Damsel of Decay or Enslaver - there is no way with this particular group makeup would they be able to win. Maybe if the 'withering' curses doesn't affect the earth pet - you may be able to do Damsel, I don't know if that has ever been tried & verified though - but then you still have the kiting bokon mechanism.

I think ultimately, folks are just going to have to realize they are just going to need specific group makeups to do some of these events, really rely upon one another and drop their mercenaries.

I use chanter's AE stun. It won't locked the mobs, but it helps. I also load a single target mez, which will take one mob out of the equation, and I cast a rune in between stuns.

Damsel charms pets. they'd be shm + a gaggle of underpowered wizards inside a couple ticks.

Enslaver would take cojones, positioning mobs exactly using a pet tank is ... a challenge
  12. Brohg Augur

if the mobs are stunnable, the AE stun + stun from Poly breaking should lock them

I beat this Boting with a TBM group geared SK And a raid geared wizard with two healer Mercs. Just had to use deflection and burn them down. I actually farmed this mission for remnants because it was fast and easy.

I thought it was just the undead pets that got charmed.

Only 21 guilds have beaten TBM ,this is a very easy expac to beat ..compare that to last two expacs etc etc

The top 3 guild were even recruiting some have not in years ...

Magelo only has how many 105 Bst now compared to befor hehehe ....the number is 199 out of how many servers .....

I don't know of any general chat on live servers that hit 400 people any more ...

    Yi Min

PS like I said I got guild help on this ......Not everyone is in a guild or plays at peek hours ....
  18. Yimin Augur

I don't know if I say this enough ,not everyone plays at prime time North American hours ...People assume there is always a tank around , and there simple is NOT ...And even if there is you all are assuming this person even wants to tank for someone they might not even know ...

    Yi Min '

Ps I have beaten this easy as pie with guild help but you assume like so many other everyone is in a guild or plays at prime time etc etc etc ....

First, I would try to get a warrior to tank it for you. The following should illustrate what a warrior will do for the mission.

    /G Tanking summary for all six A frenzied tsetse swarmer at same time: Warrior --- Total Melee --- Damage: 547864 --- Avg hit: 3061 --- Attempts: 860 --- Riposted: 122/860 [14.19%] --- Parried: 82/738 [11.11%] --- Dodged: 29/656 [4.42%] --- Blocked: 37/627 [5.9%] --- Defended: 270/860 [31.4%] --- Missed: 129/590 [21.86%] --- Hits: 461/860 [53.6%] --- Absorbed: 282/461 [61.17%] --- Real Hits: 179/860 [20.81%]

The mobs have a combined total of 15 million hit points.

Suggestion number two is use all 5 pets to pick up a different mob. Everyone should activate their burns prior to the tsetse coming. Then just go all out when they arrive. Everyone at level 105 should know how to properly burn. If they don’t ask for help from class leaders in the community. Activate pet defenses too.

Try AE stun (idk if it works on these). The shaman should have his finger over the Historian’s Intervention spell and hit it the moment some pets get low, then hit Forceful Rejuvenation and prepare to hit Historians again. Don’t waste time with slows and debuffs.

CHROMATIC HAZE should have ended several of these mob’s life in the first few seconds. This is a chanter ability that will easily trivialize this fight. Make an audible trigger for each character. When they hear it, they should fire off their biggest nukes. Other good spells include Darkened rune, runic aura, etc.

This group can easily beat this encounter. You just have to get out of the normal (dead) way of playing EQ where everyone assists, debuffs, single pulls, CC’s, etc.

EQ has always designed some encounters where you must have a tank. This expansion cannot be completed without one. And this is not new. You need healers right (mercenary or player)? Each archetype/class brings certain advantages.

Now let me share with you how your group will have a big advantage in some missions. For the “Head of the Snake” mission in crypt of sul, the mage can use that special cloak they summon and run agro free to the north most point of the zone and then call of hero the group. The group will fight one “A skeletal sentinel” and then Bokon Maru. DONE.

For the “Decay Decreased” mission in crypt of decay, the enchanter can run around solo complete (mercenary healer for safety) steps one through ten. She will have to solo burn the mob on step eight. She can do this because all mobs are mezzable. AE mez, blanket of forgetfulness. So since you have a chanter you have this huge advantage whereas other groups would have to kill their way to every single spot.

Point is, if its ok to have that mage advantage and the chanter advantage as noted above, its ok for the game to make it where tanks have an advantage as well. Don’t be afraid to mix it up and try different strategies. Don’t listen to the fatalists. And yes you will need to expand your friends circle if your goal is to complete the expansion.

FV regularly hits 380-400 - and normally sits around 280 during non-peak hours.
