Is there a reason why these cost about 85p to make and sell back for 2cp? Every other tradeskill has items that sell back for a portion of the cost to make. Why not these?

    Try making Velium Geode rings.

Psst an Unfired Ruby Encrusted Stein is unfinished therefore worthless try firing and selling

Even fired steins sell back to vendors for 2sp or some stupid amount. I was actually hoping there was a benefit to firing them but nope.

Maybe because its a quest item. Not intended for mass skillups.

Fire them then toss them into tribute. Not a great solution but it's something at least.

The stein has a tribute value of 234, so it does have a use other then selling back for a few coins. Also the stein does have a quest use, for the Solstice Earring, but, making 1000 of them for skill ups is not going to have a market for them.

Pottery is one of those trade skills that's super fast and easy to max but you get very little in returns from the vendor. On the flip side overall it is pretty darn cheap compared to some of the other ones to max so even if you are not getting much in terms of selling back its still more cost effective than some of the others. Considering someone can max it with zero farming as long as you have a chanter it saves you time and just like in RL time is money in EQ. Take that extra time you saved and go mass kill some place for a couple of hours and you will offset your costs.

This is true, however the same could be said for minimal farming for jewelcraft, can sit at a vendor and get to 260ish and vendor farming for the rest of the items needed.
  9. svann Augur

True but this will get you to 300. Far different than 260.

I think the better question is why the Solstice subcombines are still 335 trivial.

Originally the Mistletoe Cutting Sickle and Ceremonial Solstice Robes were 335 trivials and they were cut down to 250 trivial as it was seen too easy a path to 300 skill. I'm pretty sure this was done around GoD/OoW?

However they never made that fix for Star Ruby Encrusted Steins and Misty Thicket Picnics, which are still 335 trivial and allow you to go 0-300 mostly at a vendor with very limited farming.

Just be glad you can do 0-300 without any farming.

Would be nice if it gave some incentive to actually fire them. Maybe selling back for like 20-30p would be fine, but 2sp is just sucky.

sucky sellbacks but great for skillups to 300. JC was the best got most your pp back on selling back what u made.
