So I decapitated a trash mob... 14 times...

    A few things. Decap doesnt crit anywhere near 50%, its more like ~26-28% crit rate. Furthermore Precise Blow is melee crit chance, not "all around crit chance" so it wont effect any DD's (like Decap).

    Also just post the parse, cause its hard to believe Decap procc'd that much even in 5min (that would be 1 proc every ~21sec which just doesnt happen with any sort of regularity).

    Don't take this the wrong way, but from everything we've seen so far, it looks like your group just wasn't very good. I'm going to go ahead and guess you are in a casual guild of nice and hardworking very pleasant people who perhaps aren't the best EQ players because if you were, someone would have had a parse on this and figured it out. You've been asked for a parse 5 times now and keep ignoring the question...which tells me either a) you don't parse or b) you do in fact parse, but you and your group parsed poorly on that mob so you don't want to post it.

    There is no parse, so feel free to stop asking. The issue at hand is that many mobs in TDS have TONS of hp... so much, in fact, that formerly powerful abilities like Decapitate, Assassinate and Headshot fade into normal dps output for the class in question, which becomes a problem when the mobs continue to have the same hp but start conning white and yellow to 105, as many do starting in Caverns.

    Their response to the perceived issue of these abilities become high dps on trash seems to have been to increase trash mob HP to insane levels. If folks wonder what I'm talking about when I refer to rampant overmudflation in the game, this pretty well illustrates it. My dealing of 2.7m to 6.2m damage to this non-named trash mob (from Decap alone, not counting my other contributions) wasn't even a significant impact on it's HP. No, the mob wasn't protected (Decaps hit for full damage) and wasn''t being healed.

    And yes, my crit rate on decap was 50% before the additional DoN and Precise Blow ranks. I ran several five-hour parses after the Headsassecap nerf that proved that weapon speed still affected Decap rate (a 30 delay weapon averaged one decapitate per ~54 seconds, a 21 delay weapon averaged one decapitate per ~39 seconds, only using 43% worn haste and only doing melee, no additional Volleys or other abilities. I did two more with full haste/overhaste at 225%, but I don't recall their results, except that decap rates were greater still although the difference between the two decreased) and my crit rate on Decapitate was 50% +/- 1%.

    My guild is fairly casual, but we did get far enough to beat Kael and CC raids before TDS came out. The members of the group were some of our best, and if a ranger, berserker and wizard isn't good dps, then maybe you misunderstand the term "dps".

    If there is no data (parse) then there isnt much to discuss other than assumptions and conjecture. I would argue its refreshing to have trash not fall over in 10sec, its actually worth cycling discs on trash now. I'm not sure how your complaint of high mob HP relates to Decap necessarily though, whether or not a mob has 1mil or 10mil HP doesnt change the % of your dmg output that Decap makes up. Just because it doesnt drop the mob 20-30% when it fires doesnt mean its somehow contributing less than it did before.

    Also you're claim of decap firing more from faster weapons is incorrect, it used to work that way but it doesnt after the change to ~2 procs/min. Your "data" doesn't even make sense based on your claim, if the 21delay weapon was proccing more than the 30delay without max haste, the gap would widen with max haste not decrease.

    And again theres no point in mentioning Precise Blow in relation to Decap, it wont effect DD crit rates. I suggest you run a longer parse with any proc or multiple for that matter and you will see that our DD crit rate is in the ~26-28% range without any outside adps.

    Those abilities just need their messaging to be adjusted:

    'player01 DECAPITATES mob02' -> 'player01 tries to decapitate mob02'
    'player01 ASSASSINATES mob02' -> 'player01 tries to assassinate mob02'

    Problem solved.

    Just because you have good dps classes doesn't mean they were doing good dps. You guys could each be doing 10k and of course you will take forever. How do you expect anyone to take you serious in a discussion about damage(or as a dps class for that matter) when you don't even parse? Your group could be putting out 80-120k with six players or you could be doing 40k.

    Maybe mudflation is not the problem in this case maybe it's people not playing well.

    My thoughts are you bought more ranks of decapitation that added maybe 15000 more dmg to the decap ability going from level 100, while the mob hps in the expansion got scaled from 1.5 mill to probably 7 mill.

    It must have been very shiny to get those 4 ranks of decapitation only to find out it does less than what you expected :D Welcome to TDS.

    People reading too much into this. It's EQ so it is obviously broken and probably won't be looked at unless it's affecting raid encounters.

    Paladins had the Slay thing mislabeled forever in EQ. It should have been called Smite. But that's ancient history now.

    Incidentally, bard is apparently CRAZY good for melee dps merc. Just checked again at 105, melee dps merc still significantly under-performing for me relative to caster.

    Flowers do have heads that you can cut off. Rangers are pansies so they don't want to shoot little puppy in the head.
