For every person that only ports for pp 3-5 will do so free/donations. If you have the spare equipment/account and don't mind doing so free pp is free pp.

Making a druid for money makes no sense. You can make far more money(and pay for) a cleric/enchanter duo.

Not exactly true. Having access to ports makes doing certain high value quests a bit less work to do, granted in classic I think that only quest is pretty much paw of opalla and stein ( early on.)

Having access to ports gives you easier access to a wider variety of camps exactly when you want as opposed to having to look for ports.

Also poop socking ench/clr in the hole fishing for ranged totem isn't really the end all of money making. There's plenty of high value camps even a Ranger could do, so really.... almost any class can make pretty good plat.

Going into Kunark, yea it changes up a bit, but at that point you should've been a shaman.

That would work just fine. Druid + Enchanter is arguably better than Cleric + Enchanter anyway, for when you box your accounts together. You lose access to CH, so holding onto one pet indefinitely is more problematic. But you get more diversity in buffs, ensnare is great for reducing hits taken during a charm break, and being able to port means you can shift camps very quickly. You can also add a second charm if you're feeling adventurous. However, when you're busy and can't devote your full attention to a camp, being able to make some passive porting income on that Druid is handy.

Additionally, while some folks in this thread are locked into the comparison of farming items versus porting for plat, you also have to consider the krono to be made PLing with your Druid. You can make a lot of krono/plat farming high-end items on an Enchanter and Cleric, but you can also make a lot of krono PLing lowbies in brain-dead easy zones like Unrest. One is more dangerous, time-consuming, and requires more focus than the other. Don't discount the flexibility a Druid can offer in terms of how you bring in that cash.

I would think that you could probably make more money by starting a Shaman and doing Alchemy than trying to make money as a taxi service playing a druid.

You absolutely can but it's annoying , but heck if you want to get 2 40 slotters then by all means. It's not really worth it otherwise.

Prob easier to get a real job, work for a couple of hours, buy a few krono, sell krono.
Making a Druid to make money is a terrible idea.

Everyone should make druids and port for money. Hundreds of them, porting all hours when they're online, in as many zones as they can find, readily available for all the customers that will be lining up to pay them huge sums of plat.

I have no ulterior motive for suggesting this and this sound financial advice should be trusted implicitly.

If you want to make plat just make an enchanter or wizard and plan on doing ae groups:)

You know honestly this is the truth. Your time in valuable, why play a class for anything other than enjoyment, because if your not playing for enjoyment, then even a game can become a job.

Personally, Krono is so cheap it is a no brainer to just pick one up if I need some money in game, especially consider how many hours I would have to play in game to make as much plat as a Krono is worth. Hell buying a Krono is cheaper than going to a movie and buying a drink and popcorn.

You're thinking checkers when you should be thinking chess. You do the Druid while you're working, so you can get the krono and the plat.

Necros make probably the best money without AE powerleveling or epic monopolization.

I hear good money can be made down Freeport docks doing 'favours for sailors'.

Be a tough call between a Necro and a Enchanter to be honest. Enchanters can do some crazy farming of stuff if you have the patience for it and don't mind a few inevitable deaths along the way.
