I'm paying x2 for all access. 25 US each month..
  2. Peter_The_great Elder

I did the math..I've put around 350 USD on this game for nothing.. Its a new GPU or a 42" 4K TV. Feels bad man =(

(And I did not count the extra texture pack we have bought and mounts, another 50USD)

But you got over 2k hours into it. Try spending 2k hours at the pub or movies and see how much you have paid. Test server gives you gold access. Just saying that would be better for you imo.

Not sure what a "texture pack" is but sounds like you have played other games that do sell "texture packs" and those are the ones that scammed you. Whatever it is was probably just for looks. Did not affect your progress at all.

Buying mounts are once again the players choice as there are options to obtain mounts in the game thru quests or casino free. Nice to have but does not affect your progress at all.

EQ is very clear on what you get, what you need and pretty much how to do it. They allow anyone to play free in almost every expansion but the last two - the rest is up to the player.

Just cause you cannot play in the latest expansion does not mean you were scammed. Perhaps you should lower your sights and play in a lower expansion and have fun? What is your end goal in this game?

But at the end of the day nothing anyone says in here will convince you if you feel you paid $350 for something and got nothing for the last 8 months.

So buy the gf something real nice for V day today instead. Did you do the Erollisi Day quests with her? Those are EQ version of V day.

Edit - I feel scammed when 3 people out of around 1000 got a coupon/card for a free mount with the purchase of a t shirt and this was not announced as a possibility (if true)

You need to do TOV Mercenary and Partisan Quests and the Group Missions. (The Achievements for these give the best experience)

A scam is a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation.

You have not been scammed in the slightest. You were given exactly what you paid for.

I don't do trade skills yet my all access membership covers the ability to earn AA I'm not buying. I don't feel scammed. You making the conscious choice to not raid is on you. You can't accuse the AC guy of scamming you because you didn't setup your free annual service. It was available to you, and would have been delivered, but you chose not to take it. Your al-a-carte thinking about a subscription model is your problem.

I do raid, but I don't play EQ2, Planetside, H1Z1 or DCUO, yet I pay for them, in my all access membership. I am not accusing DBG of scamming me out of my sub. Just like not raiding, or tradeskill AA, or wtf/e someone wants to complain about, I am not complaining that having access to these other games is a scam. It's a benefit I am not utilizing. Actually I downloaded DCUO for my wife and I to try together, since she doesn't like EQ, maybe I'll get even more benefit from my sub than I'm already getting.

At 110 you can't use ToV Rk2 spells anyway so not sure what the complaint is. If you can't tank RoS mobs for RoS T2 spells, then you need to have a serious come to Karana moment about your ability to play the game. It might be that you don't have decent augs, or are using the wrong spells, or whatever. There is no reason a paladin and a beastlord with 2 J5 mercs can't take down named in Goro.

EverQuest, like almost all MMO, have a player driven economy. You can buy ToV T1 armor and you can buy ToV Rk 2 spells in the bazaar. If you choose to not form a full group to kill named in ToV, then you might have to find something else to do to earn the platinum to buy it from other players. That's just the way MMOs work.

If, for example, you buy a Krono to buy in game items, DBG did not scam you. They provided you a safe means to make a transaction with another player for that other player's time.

These are all choices you are making. The fact that you are having buyers remorse because you bought something you don't enjoy is not DBGs fault. They did not sell you a lemon. You got exactly what was promised and you realized you don't enjoy the game play.

Please toss in the towel after you parcel me all your stuff :p

One of the nicest things I've obtained in game was a cool weapon ornament from a Guide event.
A (lame) scavenger hunt that took all of two minutes to complete, but the ornament was really nice.
All hail the Bristlebane Guides :D

Two thousand hours into the game? I'm impressed. If I spent an average of 10 hours a week, that would be 200 weeks of actual play time or around 4 years. You are only at 20K AAs with a Paladin? Or are you including hours spent in a GL getting buffs overnight or during the day?

In any event, the answer to your thrown towel question is straightforward. If you are no longer having fun, throw in the towel. If you want to learn how to progress to handle ToV, ask.

This is an older spell set I used for my pally, you can sub in the the newer TBL/ToV spells. Maybe it's just a matter of using a bad spell set. My Pally is 110 and silver acct and I can tank EW trash with 14k AA.

Peter - have you tried Gnome Memorial Mountain to fill in gear spots and get luck stat up? The gear shield and 1hs will help your AC a fair amount. I assume you know shield AC is paramount for a Paladin, and that you almost always want to be in 1Hander/Shield if tanking. Also you may want to direct most of your farming time to type 7 augs, through each expansion. In terms of experience and fun Howling Stones or Gorowyn is pretty good spot (realize they are older zones) at 110 and you can fill in your type 5 augs. Paladin and Beastlord should definitely be able to take on a fair amount of content, but I would say that merc healers may end up being a problem (they aren't that great even with J5 and max AA).

Have you tried BL pet tanking with paladin playing healer + dps? I expect that will be the more successful method until your paladin is well geared, maybe even until paladin is 115. Just make sure you have pet EM earring, pet taunt on, paladin bold attacks off, and adequately buff your BL pet. Have paladin run target of target heals and the Refute spell for undead slow, the reverse DS Mark, and Audacity Magic Resist debuff to help to land the debuffs. That should get u through T1 named, which drop T3 ore.

If you still have trouble taking aggro from pet, there is a lot more you can change on paladin to help.

You'll probably want a full group to tackle any ToV missions. Plus missions will generally require a player tank due to PC > Pet aggro rules. The missions are not easy, and can easily become a death trap with negative exp for the unprepared.

or......you and your gf could try your hand at a fresh TLP, I imagine one is about to be announced. Mangler just had POP come out. Get into a good guild with a good discord community, this will help you with gearing and leveling. Cap level on mangler is 65...if we have a new classic server coming it will be 50.

No one ever said he/she is an expert?

But honestly..how can twin heal help? That is a 5% chance of twin heal will say..I die one hit k.o and how can I stop fighting and start to cast a healing spell that might heal twice at once?! While we have 2 heal merc?!

Slot 4 typ 21.. costs 15us to unlock. ''texture pack''

The frequency at which paladins self heal is what makes Twinheal useful. You do not need to stop attacking to cast a heal either. Paladins are constantly healing that it the whole part of being a warrior/cleric hybrid and another tool at mitigating damage. Most paladins don't even use healer mercs(DPS mercs instead) or can easily stand in for a group healer themselves. Based on your responses I can see why you are struggling so much. Spend some time AAing up your class, read what they do and then actually click the buttons during a fight. It sounds like you are trying to face tank a mob with no disc on, then targeting yourself to heal when damage spikes. If you truly want to self improve and enjoy playing in the new expansion, I'm sure i can point you in the right direction for some guides for your characters. Would hate to see a flourishing couple of EQ players leave.
