Server Transfers RF -> LJ

I do recall a similar response, but I don't think they or many on RF thought it would actually happen; so I think it was a response indicating a correction that would never happen.

Now that it has, I'm very curious if the RF -> LJ movement will be enabled. As some have suggested, RF could use a release valve and with instanced content becoming the norm on GoD and beyond it may not be seen as necessary to open up transfers for the density concern.

I'd really just like a formal response acknowledging:
    1. RF/LJ will syncronize for a GoD unlock
    2. At that point or some other known point in time transfers will allow RF -> LJ movement.

This whole merge thing, while nice to pursue as mental gymnastics really isn't the purpose of this post (despite my agreement it's better for both RF/LJ for it to happen).

Technically, they wouldn't be the same until the next expansion opens up on the same day. Right now RF is still ahead because it has had more time in the current expansion.

Personally I think they should be run like two giant instances of the same server. Lock them in sync, hold votes on both for the future of the servers (or just get rid of votes, I mean, has one ever failed on RF/LJ?), allow transfers between. However, I no longer play on these servers, so my opinion on what should be done with them means little.

    Agreed !

We're synced. For now. What happens if one server falls behind the other in the future? For transfers to be opened between the servers permanently, they would need to be tied together on unlocks from here on out. That likely means a change in rule set. Thus far, DBG has resisted changing rule sets, preferring to launch new progression servers to meet demands rather than editing old ones. That's fair. People get what they signed up for. But it's been two years and needs change. I am hoping DBG will adapt with us.

PoP is the height of classic EQ and I'm certain DBG recognizes this. Agnarr is the proof of that. After PoP, progression populations nose dive. I've always expected DBG to let Ragefire and Lockjaw follow their natural course to decline and failure since its easier to open new progression servers and coax existing players to them than to fix the problems on aging servers. Surprisingly, DBG has already taken steps to preserve our populations by speeding up expansion unlocks and (attempting) to release GoD and Omens together. Although that last idea fell through, it was still an effort on their part I didn't expect and far more than SoE ever did. (RIP Vulak)

Speeding up unlocks helps but the less isolated the populations on aging progressions servers, the better. I hope that DBG removes the voting mechanic on LJ and Ragefire or finds another way to keep the servers in sync so that we can freely transfer from one to the other as populations ebb. Even going so far as providing some of those transfers at zero or reduced cost to encourage the free exchange of players. It's an easier solution than a server merge and it doesn't take as many choices away.

My goal is to see one of these progression servers make it all the way to live content. I'll be on whichever one finally figures out how to do that.

The saturation on RF could be alleviated if transfers were enabled from RF -> LJ now that in theory both servers will have the same expansion release window.

All those that fled for greener pastures may be looking to return.

There's a reason RF is a populated and everyone knows it, hardly any greener pastures on LJ with current box crews clearing old content rarely leaving anything useful up for any guilds trying to progress. If pastures were so green on LJ, how come PoFex decided to xfer roughly 40-50 toons to RF?
With plans to lock out MP and Damage from EP, I hardly see why anyone from RF would want to come over as they have a working raid theme going for them.

From what I remember, the initial post stated that you would only be able to transfer to the server that was further ahead or either way if they were at equal states. so If they release an expansion at same time the option to transfer either way should be available until one progress further then the other.

I wonder if membership of most of these guilds know an offer was extended to get them access to EP that was unequivocally turned down by their officers? One did accept a similar offer. At least one guild has officers with their heads in the right place?

PoFex is a different story and I'm not so sure you can say a "guild" moved when 5 or 6 people owning 40 accounts transferred (or so I hear).

Obviously if an offer was turn down it clearly wasn't in their favor yah think? Regardless if only 5-6 people, losing a big group of players to RF would mean LJ clearly isn't the greener pasture yah think? Seems to me being big dog on an empty server clearly isn't so fun anymore.

I find it enjoyable. Sorta reminds me of EQMac before the PC influx. Couple guilds doing their thing, one has EP/Time. Another will have EP or Time; I don't know the details of how that's gonna work.

What has happened is that LJ caught up to RF and DBG has yet to chime in confirming this and secondly stating if RF -> LJ will be enabled for GoD. That was the whole point of the post; to gain some insight into how things will work 5 months from now as all indicators are there that the servers should syncronize.

If there's sour grapes about EP access or mergers that's off topic here.

I was in PoF-ex on Lockjaw before my move to Ragefire, as Velious opened on LJ and the atmosphere was so toxic on LJ. At this stage PoF was a dying guild, only a few members kept logging in, in late Kunark we were maybe three or four people chatting in /gu. During Kunark era, PoF (and any other guild) could not progress and kill Trakanon for the reasons you all know, they got demotivated, felt as 'victims' of the stronger guild and most of them started not to log anymore.

Now, all of a sudden, a few boxers (they always had many boxers indeed, but it was not a box only guild at the time I was with them) of them resurrect the guild and transfer to Ragefire where they decide to not listen to the Guild Council and start going amok by snapping targets and refusing the rotation agreement which works nicely since late Velious era. As a former member, I tried to say hello and to ask for explanations by sending a couple tells to characters I knew from my PoF time on LJ, but I never got a reply (side note, how rude).

I don't think the people who are behind this operation will succeed in breaking the good atmosphere on the Ragefire server and they will shatter themselves against an united front and an alliance of the three major raiding guilds on the server. And as a former LJ member of PoJ, I feel ashamed and angry

Now that's some inside scoop there. Victims indeed.
  12. Adonhiram Augur

Ahem, "felt as victims" I said... and obviously their psychological perception shifted dramatically since...

One thing I really love about playing on Ragefire is that all of these guilds have coordinated a plan to work together in PoP, and help each other with backflagging, etc.

Please take PoFex back. They are very annoying, and are going against the grain with the other guilds on RF.
  15. Eldrian Augur

Nope, PoFex is all yours now :)

PoFex did the same thing on Lockjaw. They "packman" anything that is up, refuse to work out rotations and didn't want to play nice. So we (Faceless and DHS) did what we had to do and worked out a schedule between us and we (Faceless) bat phoned anything of relevant importance at all hours of the day or night. We also took video of some of their key members warping around zones and camps and submitted it to DBG getting some of their key box crews banned in the process.

That said, I'm sorry for the loss of your harmonious fluffy bunnies and rainbows rotation-quest on Ragefire, but that's how PoFex works and I think most of the guilds on Lockjaw are happy they have moved on to greener pastures.

If you'd like to discuss this or any of the comments that are "on topic" for this post, you are free to reach out to ;t lockjaw.Silinius :)

I'm pretty happy with the efforts of my guild and of our server to down this expansion and get on, what we believe is the same unlock timer as Ragefire. If DBG does unlock bi-lateral transfers; Faceless is recruiting :)
  17. Ethereal Augur

I'd rather have PoF here than you guys. They at least are open to rotations and aren't a total detriment to the server. There is a reason why your server is dead and you're recruiting. Grats on your accomplishments though! Ep33n > long-term server stability.
  18. Silinius Augur

Oh? So POFex has engaged the 4 guilds on RF for rotation talks have they? That's not what people claimed earlier in this post and it's not what they did on Lockjaw.

As far as Lockjaw, DHS and Faceless have a very good relationship; one that Gremin and I both have worked to foster. Sure there are random issues here and there but that happens no matter the server or guilds involved. Midnight Phyre and Damage will ultimately see the Elemental Planes and we've offered to flag for PoTime in exchange for a clear path towards flagging our guilds first (Faceless and DHS). Since MP and Damage have yet to gear up in VT or even attempt getting access to VT, I'd assume they might start there and clear content that they haven't seen yet before attempting Mith Mar, Sol Ro, Fennin or Earth B - you are going to need that gear.

So one guild drove all the lesser guilds off their own server and have no recruit pool left, but want mergers so their guild does not end up dying out. LOL There is a reason why vulak became what it is now. Might want to learn from history of what happened there before it repeats again. The same people that got violated on vulak took control of a dead server only to repeat the exact same thing that happened to them. How shocking.

I am super curious as to the statement that lockjaw is a "dead" server. Looking over Faceless DKP chart they have about 72 people most of which raid 70+% of the time(for the moment). They have made up 4 months of expansion unlock time (they were the 6month unlock while RF was the 3 month for a time) they beat content faster and if the last 3 expansions are any indication will unlock the next couple of expansions at a faster clip and pull ahead. They do have open recruiting but so does guilds on RF. So what exactly the indication of a dead server? Population charts appear to be about the same (though its only representative not specific).
I would say they do stomp faster and don't play as nice as RF guilds but then again through out the history of EQ thats more normal than what RF has, I can only think of 2 maybe 3 servers that had that sort of cooperation between guilds : The Rathe (Rathe Travel Agency/RTA) , Karana, and Stormhammer (though that was more Sony enforced).
