Rogue Pulling Help?

"Filthy Casual" 105 Rogue looking to improve overall game play by becoming a better puller in a variety of settings, including TBM. I am familiar with range (bow)/hide and sneak(behind)/tag methods of pulling. What are other effective methods for a rogue to pull, especially the aggro-linked TBM mission mobs?

    Thanks in advance to all.

Do you guys still have that mez trap or did that get discontinued?

Also truly aggro linked mobs can't be split, did you mean social mobs where sneak pulling doesn't work?

I guess you never saw your mez trap disc line or your single target mez mini escape line?

Agro linked mobs you cant/won't be able to split well because agro linked.

2 ways to split with trap is sneak/hide into the group drop trap they all mez right away then pull one out in the few seconds you have.. Rest drop agro.. Repeat.

Second is drop trap away from the grp and pull mobs in. If 1 is mez immune and in front of the pack they will most of the time eat the trap trigger and rest of the pack wont be hit.

If its just 2 mobs you can use the single target mez called audacious escape pop 1 with it other will charge. Sometimes depending on distance the mem blur part wont take hold. So use escape when the mob is in camp to make sure other mob doesn't keep agro.

This thread should have also been in the melee class forums.

My wife is a rogue (im a ranger) and when we duo she does a lot of the pulling (i handle the tanking and slowing), but when we come to agro linked mobs there isnt much she can do.

I normally just root one and the other comes in, we kill it and when we are done i break root on the add and pull it or we just rush it and kill.

Agro linked mobs are a neat aspect that i rather enjoy, i guess a chanter or bard with mezzing would the best way to handle them, but my wife and i like to just throw lots of DPS at any TBM situation, its usually the answer.

Rogue pulling is iffy at best. The traps are not 100 percent and our de aggro isn't 100 percent, it can fail just like pickpocketing can. Monks and rangers and bards are your best pullers. SK also.

Thanks, I was wondering if it was just me being ineffective and there was a technique that would produce better results. I am clearly more comfortable playing a monk or bard as group puller.

Traps work fine and are reliable. Need to be aware of the range and that they are line of sight. If you're pulling a group of mobs through one and any are casters that stop before running, they're likely to miss the trap going off. If you put the trap in odd geometry, it will miss some. If mobs cannot be mezzed, well, they won't be affected by the trap. Dropping the trap at the feet of a mob can make it go off too early missing some mobs and is risky, but sometimes a good strat in tight quarters. You're also subject to odd pathing where you might expect things to run one way and they don't. If unsure of pathing, make sure escape is up before trying.

Pull them all and burn them all is the best pulling strategy tho.

    I wont argue that...

Rogues can pull nearly everything. Due to the available skills/tools the right pull is very situation-dependant, though.

In addition the the already listed methods: In case of mobs with different reactions (e.g. war and caster mob, one runs instantly, one cast first and moved later) that are immune to mez (like a named with trash around), I find the usage of a right timed escape most efficiant. Aggro, wait for the mobs to split due to their movement behavior, escape, pick one before it gets back into social range.

1 thing i did fail to mention is that some "immune to mez" mobs can actually be hit by the trap if you drop the trap on top of them or the grp they are in. There "immunity" seems to trigger on agro. So if you drop the trap on them they will be mezed/blurred for that 10 sec (i think the timer is) but if you try to Audacious escape them they will be immune.

I have noticed this more in TBM zones more than anything. An enchanter gets full resistance trying to mez pull the same mobs my trap hit on the initial trigger of the trap.

Will a rogue be able to pull gribbles and get 2 in 30..possibly.. It depends on what task sets you get and if you mes up a trap. Because placing the trap requires flat ground or you have to wait the reset timer.
