    Hey all,

I played EQ when I was young and never understood it back then. Many MMO’s later to include EQOA and some EQ2, I find myself loving the world of Norrath over every game world.

I have a level 9 Necro, and would like to go through the zones, level and explore Norrath. Do you guys feel like even these days, the lore is still there? I know it’s not how it was many years ago when you would start in your races city. Just trying to revive that nostalgia from back then.

    Thank you

A large contributory factor in EQ engagement is engagement with others. So, I suggest that you get into a guild with others of your level. Know what your character adds to a group and go kill stuff and do some quests.

The lore is the same than in the past, but the game and the gameplay has changed. To receive some nostaliga, you could consider playing on a classic Time Locked Progression (TLP) server. Take a look here to choose a server !

A good and classic TLP server should be Tormax, which launched a few weeks ago, but you can also choose Agnarr, which is perma-locked at Lost Dungeons of Norrath, the so called Planes of Power phase, which represents the vanilla years of EverQuest. It is a very unique server, and maybe the most nostalgic one. The only downside of classic TLP servers and Agnarr is, that they are low populated. I do not not know how low, but you should give it a try.

The necromancer is a great solo class which does grant you many possibilities. Being able to solo well is very important today, as multiplayer groups have become a bit exotic on live servers. Many players do prefer to run multiple game clients to form their own group, which is called boxing. You can optionally hire mercenaries to assist you, but only one can be active. I recommend the healer merc.

The class is specialized onto undead mobs, but is also strong against other targets. You will be able to learn how to mezmerize, charm, and slow undead mobs. You will even be able to turn many living creatures into undead ones, so that they will be affected by your anti-undead spells.

I play a Necro on a Normal server largely for nostalgia.

Older folks, like myself, value time for more reasons than simple impatience. Career, family, and responsibility are all things that grow in time. (for responsible people anyway)

I don't know you, but you might want to ask the "time" question. How much time are you willing to put into the game at once? (a single game session) How fast do you want to progress? (or slow) Questions like that.

One thing I can suggest to consider...If the current higher level game seems too complicated, you can "level lock" by adjusting the xp in the AA window to 100% aa and then just don't go past whatever era of EQ you like best on a "normal" server.

IMO the lev 1-65 is the most nostalgic and simple because it is just before all of the spell ranks were added. (That's basically the PoP era) By locking into this era on a "normal" server you can still have the benefits of having a Merc help you out if wanted/needed, and many other QOL changes the game has currently, without having to deal with most of the botts and Krono farmers you find...either on the TLP servers, or the current servers at the higher levels.

You're playing a Necro, like myself, so I'm making a few assumptions...your mileage may vary however.
