Request: Original Dragons - Nagafen and Vox

Any chance of removing the level 52 cap for killing the original EQ dragons so that we can complete old achievements? No other raids have this type of cap and the reason this was introduced many many years ago is now defunct.

You can now do them via AoC on all servers no matter your level.

The level cap is still useful for new TLP servers and as was mentioned you can do it in an AoC with no issues.

    AoC requires gold, correct?
  5. suinegEQ Elder

I think so which probably isn't too much to ask for the convenience it brings. Nothing is super locked behind all of them.
  6. Waring_McMarrin Augur

It requires gold to zone in.

I think Sac works on FTP. Got some emeralds?

What is it useful for on new TLP's? Keeping two open world dragons up 24/7 once Kunark is released just in case someone creates a raid of sub-53 characters that really wants to take them out, and they're already locked out of their instance? Nobody kills them open world on TLP's after classic due to the level restriction, and the epic items become nearly worthless due to the flood of them from instances.

Using the Agent of Change solves the OP's issue of achievement hunting, but I have no idea why this level restriction could possibly be considered useful.

Ok then there still is a reason to remove the level limiter on Vox and Nagafen.

Why do the high levels need the open world kills when they can get it in an instance? Saying that sub-53 can get it in an instance can go both ways and the ones above 52 can also get it in an instance.

Thanks for the response, didn’t realise the AoC didn’t have the same restrictions as normal zone.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that. A few did say that the open world versions just sit there unused though, which is a true enough statement.

The level restriction was a solution to a problem that no longer exists. It is no longer useful. It does not help anyone, and it only serves to mothball a slice of content prematurely. Since basically no-one likes to see content go unused or left idle if it can be helped they're just suggesting to remove the old restriction so the content has a chance to die out naturally.

Please don't invent mythical level 53 raids. That's just silly :)

If devs feel like turning it off one day then ... cool, maybe naggy and vox get a few more runs on the next TLP. Yay. Content is content after all, especially at that early point in the game. If not, then meh, I'm not going to go looking for pitchforks or anything.

As for the OP, yeah their problem was solved a few patches ago :) Congrats.

I was responding to a post saying that low levels can just use the AoC to get their kills in and the point is that so can the high levels. Personally I see no reason to remove this as everyone has access to it and it is still nice for lower level people to have a shot at an open world kill. If the mobs are really sitting there with no one killing them that just means the loot isn't worth the effort to keep a toon in level range for a kill.

So you opted for the mythical level 53 raids actually exist option :(

    That's just silly.

Nobody "needs" the kills. Which TLP's have you played post-classic? The point I'm making is that literally nobody kills open world Vox/Nagafen after classic with the level restriction in place. Nobody. There are no raids of level 52 characters showing up to kill them. The level restriction accomplishes only one thing, which is ensuring they just remain up from Kunark through Gates at a minimum, when classic MoTM is removed and they become doable with a small group of bored level 50-52ish players. They simply remain up for months at a time.

So I'll ask again, why is the level restriction useful?
  16. Waring_McMarrin Augur

I don't see the lack of open world kills as a problem when anyone who wants it can kill it in an AoC weekly.
  17. Fell Augur

Flip the question around. It's a change, which takes a certain amount of development time. For what purpose? So one single group per server can get one extra kill per week, on an out-of-era boss?

TLP FTP Blah! if you want the achievement deal deal with i did and i was gold back when i had to wait days for someone to kill nag haha.

  19. FrozenWater Augur

Flip the question? How about read the thread. You don't get to ignore the "purposes" already given and continue to re-ask "for what purpose" ad infinitum.

Well .. I guess you can. Isn't the internet great? :)

Seriously though, your question has already been answered.
  20. Fell Augur

Yes, the Internet is great, and your post is a stellar example of inanity. The "purposes already given" have already been thoroughly debunked. So why spend developer resources for essentially no gain?
