Daybreak, obviously. The Online Krono Buyer should've spent that money at DBG.

Also, Kronos are $18, not $13.

I am trying to figure out how this changes anything.

Very good observation. I thought about this as well, and I think it will occur, but I think the magnitude will be minimal. I based on what I’ve observed on my server in EoK and RoS, in any given day there are probably a half dozen “real groups” out killing mobs and literally (counting in my head) about 25-30 bot farmer groups. I think this is a fair estimate as I spend a lot of time traversing EoK / RoS as I recently did all of EoK progression and the first part of RoS progression this month. The bot farmer groups are not only 4x as prevalent, but they also kill literally 24/7 whereas the “real groups” only kill for a few hours and are not optimized for killing fast and nonstop. Based on these rough numbers, literally 90%+ of the Chase Loot comes from bot farmers whereas 10% of the chase loot is dropped in regular play. Without the bot farmers, I think there would be almost no supply of chase loot on the market for sale/trade.

Unfortunately traditional supply/demand are a little tricky here. Because the supply of items is drastically reduced due to fewer chase items dropping, prices would need to skyrocket. They would need to rise to the point where demand is roughly 10% of current demand, which is a massive increase. However, my suspicion is that while the cost of Chase loot (in Kronos) would increase, the substantially reduced number of transactions would lead to the net effect that fewer overall Krono are in circulation.

The key to keep in mind is that substitute goods exist that do not cost Krono (at 10 Krono for a “Chase Item - Ring” ... is it really sufficiently better than Conflagrant)??? So there is an artificial ceiling on how high a price people can charge for Chase Items, regardless of supply limitations.

    This is good news.

And to those asking for 3rd party apps to be named, it doesn't matter. If you have to think twice about an application for EQ, then it's probably illegal to use it. If it can automate gameplay, it's illegal. Period. Full stop. End of story.

Prepare for the EQ population to take a nosedive!

The Kronos were purchased from Daybreak at full price ($18 or whatever). They were used to fund the purchase of the chase loot by the initial buyer. The final buyers got them on the secondary market cheaper, but the Kronos came into existence because they were bought from Daybreak at full price. Eliminate the supply chain and the initial 5 Kronos are never bought and instead the “final buyers” of the cheaper Krono just pay the regular subscription fee (or don’t sub at all). In this scenario Daybreak makes slightly less money, the initial player never gets his chase item, the final buyers have to pay a higher price for subscription, and the reseller ends up with an in-game chase item they have no use for (or the reseller never exists to begin with so the item was never looted).

that hasnt been true for a long while. Game Genie hasnt been a bannable offence in its basic not afk bot form.

This is used so heavily in game i am really curious if they are going to take a stand and say no use of game genie period and we will detect the use and ban you. Zero Tolerance.

daybreak doesnt care and shouldnt if there are more kronos than needed.

So daybreak is out still as the money used in RMT should be used on DBGs. So the buyer and the new buyer should all give their money to DBG.

Yes dbg is out and not happy. Regardless of "well the krono was bought for full price originally" yeah so? Bestbuy would love to sell you more tvs than you have outlets for...just like dbg would rather we buy more kronos than what we would need.
  8. asdfqwerty Journeyman

people arent spending money on dbg's store to buy fresh kronos as much as they should be. Yes current kronos were originally bought at 17.99 but im sure DBG would love to make MORE money and have us have more krono's than needed as they are sellers...they dont care about our situation they just want money, as they should.

As it stands now people are trading old unused krono for fresh cheap dollars. DBG if they did what i posed TAKES those fresh cheap dollars (and more than doubles what rmt sites sell for) AND keeps all their revenue from the past from krono sales.

It changes everything for a unknown amount of time until the "kroyes's" become as flooded as krono's are now...rinse repeat (if needed)

I have not posted on any EQ Forum ever, but, I feel this needs to be said because tomorrow may never come.
I was banned for 2 weeks a couple years ago because they said I was using 3rd party bot program. I emailed them, twittered them, tried every possible point of contact I could to see why they were banning me. I had 1 account I was at the keyboard and my fingers were bleeding from my addiction. But, I was pressing every key, fighting every creature, doing everything I loved about the game. I was never able to get hold of anyone till I got back into the game and /petitioned. Once I finally talked to someone, they credited my account 2 weeks. I accepted it and moved on even though I was on a progressive server that just started and wasn't able to ever fully recover.

You will notice I said I had 1 account. That was because I made a second account and /petitioned and they said they could do nothing with the other account until it was unbanned. Long and drawn out, here is my point...

As of right now, I am afraid to log into my account for fear it will be banned due to the same error that occurred last time. I exceeded there allowable kill rate or exp rate or whatever system they used to determine I (human) was a bot last time. Can I log in and play hard or do I have to sit back and click once in a while???

I suspect there would be some business laws broken if they were to start doing this unfortunately. They were sold with the express idea of being tradable. To make them non tradable just to start the same thing with a different name I am sure wouldn't be legal.
  11. asdfqwerty Journeyman

nothing you said was backed with proof.

youre talking to devs asking if you can log in (as players cant tell you that beyond yes you can if you have the desire to and have a way to).

then you act scared to log into a game...if someone is "scared" to log into a video game because you apparently leetzor kill d00ds...then tone down the leetness and play lighter...or go away.
  12. asdfqwerty Journeyman

thats assumption and an ignorant assumption. Their game and virtual/itemvirtual currency (was made into virtual currency). Krono's are only required to allow an account to obtain 30 days of game time...regardless of their tradeability or not. Any change to an item that has "plat value" or RL $$ value doesnt matter as the item is still able to be used...just now its for a specified account.

The premise of krono's was general. The purpose was specific and the specific is to allow 30 days of play time...the tradeability factor doesnt change the ability of the purpose it can still be used.

There have been items in game changed from droppable to no drop that had RL $$ value, since i bought eq and i had my eyes on that droppable can i expect to win in a legal case that DBG changed an item i bought the game for to no drop? Of course not.

The proof was given to the GM when petitioned and that's why they credited my account.

The rest of your comments are just cyberbullying and disregarded.

OK, I guess you got me. Didn't know you specifically paid to specifically loot that item you say got changed to no drop either.

Say goodbye to 75% of the company's monthly revenue if you ban everyone using third party programs.

Third Party Cheat Programs =/= Third Party Programs, it's just cheat, it's obviously to tell if someone is cheating or not if you just stand behind him, but DB can' stand behind those cheater, the only official way to know is to detect any suspicious intention to modify or alter the data stream sending from your computer no matter what 3rd party program you are using. Taking log parser for example is joke, the log is text file generated from eqclient and saving to your computer, no matter how you analyze the data, it's not suspicious intention to modify or alter the data stream sending back to DB server. DB Dev doesn't need to list down all the suspicious programs because they already tell you no intention is allowed to modify or alter the data steam sending from your eqclient. If you use one of those programs that sending malicious data to DB server without your acknowledgment, it's your problem. Think before you use them.

I have heard some terrible ideas throughout the years but this is near the top. Let's punish everyone who has kronos because of rmt people? If they want to run off their customers they should put you in charge.

After reading 10 pages of replies to this post, I cannot comprehend that we have so many obvious cheaters in EQ who use so many extra programs to give them an extra edge. They say everybody knows them. I don't know them. And I am sure many other regular paying players don't know all the cheat programs either. We just want things to be fair. We want to be able to kill the mobs we need. We don't want bots taking over areas that regular players would like to experience.

Please list the allowed programs. So that those of us who don't know about all the helpful acceptable programs will be able to also benefit from them.
  19. Bigstomp Augur

It seems pretty simple really. Don't cheat and you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks. Could you please also make sure they list general technology that they are uncomfortable with and will ban an account for using it. (E.g., VMs). I don't even need reasons. Just the rules.

Also, it would be great if any info like that is easy to find directly off your web page without having to search through forums and other web sites to find info that may or may not be accurate and up-to-date.

    ====

Most of the things on the web sites that were linked earlier are talking about programs that have capabilities added that were meant to specifically interact with EQ to gain advantage and seem obvious.

Generic technology that has other reasons for using (E.g., VMs on Mac machines to run Windows, or for isolation for security reasons) may not be as obvious to people. If it is clear to people about these rules, then people won't get surprised when they had planned to use it for a legit reason.

I mention this example since someone asked in General within the last year if anyone had gotten EQ working in a VM. I did mention that it was not allowed and would get them banned.

(If it wasn't for EQ, I wouldn't have a native Windows machine at all and only have Linux and OSX native machines)
