The exact Error i'm getting is "The instruction at 0x6099fb1e referenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read.

This is a fresh install of the game and I'm not entirely certain where to go from here. I hit play and can't make it even to server select. I spent some time googling but to no avail. Any help, or suggestions would be appreciated.

Reinstalled yet again completely anew this morning. On the verge of giving up.

In order to resolve this issue please follow these steps:

    1) Open the EverQuest launcher and access the Advanced Tools menu by clicking the button in the lower left-hand corner area of the launcher.

    2) Click Game Configuration.

    3) Click Next twice until you are at the Engine Settings section. Here you will see a resolution drop down menu. Set the game's resolution to 800x600.

    4) Try entering the game again. You should no longer encounter this message. You may need to go back and try a few different resolution settings to find one you are comfortable and will not crash the game.

    Hi
I did a search and perhaps this guys solution may help while its not the exact instruction string its similar

fix for error I was getting on my laptop: The instruction at 0x034e553e refernced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read. this error is usually caused because the video settings on the laptop are too high resolution for the game, set yours on your laptop to 1024x768. start up the game and it will work, you can reset higher if in game it allows you to. like everquest has a setting in the options window. i have been fighting with this forever on my laptop and it finally came to me. was a problem i had on my desktop where the setting in game was too high for the monitor.

You can lower the settings of EQ on the patcher, the cog like icon bottom left just under the adverts erm information providing clips i mean

Also do you have dx9c installed there used to be a link on the old forums to the download at microsoft.

Have you got your latest graphic card drivers?

Hopefully these may be of some help if not a few more detials about your computer would be fab .. also on the forums should be what to post so more detialed help can be given

hehe TSR Seanf got there while i was typing

I attempted Every Resolution setting under Game configuration with no positive results. Changed my resolution setting via the laptop and had no results. the above is what the patcher logged, Honestly speaking, i have no idea what it means.

I'm having same problem after my dell ran a windows update on the graphics card. I have also tried to change the resolutions but that has not helped.

In the case that changing the game resolution did not resolve your issue you may have a series of corrupted files in your EverQuest directory that need to be re-created by the patcher. You may want to make backups and then delete the following files:

    defaults.ini
    eqclient.ini
    eqgame.exe
    EQGfx_Dx8.dll
    EQGraphicsDX9.dll
    eqlsClient.ini
    eqmain.dll

Also, back up the character configuration files by following these instructions:

    <CharacterName>_<ServerName>.ini (example jack_bristlebane.ini)
    UI_<CharacterName>_<ServerName>.ini (example ui_jack_bristlebane.ini)

One or more of those files may be corrupt, causing these issues.

If deleting these files does not resolve your issue, you can restore your backed up files and folders and retain your hotkeys, contact lists, and display settings.

In the case that your issues persists please feel free to open a support ticket with us for further assistance.

Disabled the use of Vertex shaders via the .ini and had no problems logging in. I appreciate the help given by everyone.

Please post the dxdiag from the top, as shown to pass the sound card section.

I would look at downloading video card driver from Nvidia, uninstalling the current one via Add/Remove Programs then install the new one. Windows installation video card drivers have generated issues in the past and not just with EQ.

The reason the disabling the vertex shaders is that EQ is passing the work of rendering EQ from the video card/ GPU memory to the CPU/system memory. They still need to be drawn, just the work is being passed on. It is basically a workable bandaid until another 3D graphics program runs into issues.
