Quietly removing Krono from Accounts is Unacceptable!

Gift cards aren't designed or typically used as a medium of exchange.

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/currency

    currency

2 a: something (such as coins, treasury notes, and banknotes) that is in circulation as a medium of exchange
    b
    : paper money in circulation
    c
: a common article for bartering
Furs were once used as currency.

I think Angelina's response is perfect. They acknowledged the issue. We'll probably get a fuller response in time.
  3. CatsPaws Just getting rid of the old

LMAO and that response infers this may all just be a BUG and not sketchy sales or stolen card. 5 pages of speculative posts whittle down to pfft!

We encourage anyone who notices any missing krono to contact Customer Service at https://help.daybreakgames.com from the affected account as soon as possible. We are looking into the matter but have no other information to provide at this time.
  4. Randomized Augur

Has to be that way. Until you've got an firm handle on the situation and a solution in sight, any details you release just become wood for the fire.

Best and safest course is to acknowledge it and say you're working on it presently

Yeah, I'm a little confused as to why they need the customers to figure out if they lost Krono. I'm not sure how many people keep track of exactly how many they have. I would think that most people have a general idea of how many they have but not necessarily exactly how many. Also, some people may mistakenly think they have more than they actually do. They may think they have 17, but in actuality they have 15 because they forgot they traded one for plat and used another for membership.

I would think that DPG could figure out the lost Krono on their own. It's my understanding that they are individually numbered and tracked. It seems like they should be able to come up with a database query to find the Krono which disappeared rather than consumed.
  7. CatsPaws Just getting rid of the old

I think the print is so small on the box on the character screen that no one can really see how many they have anyway. Is that 59 or 69? Or 50/60?

So I don't think it's this. As you said I'm sure they're able to track each individual Krono. But having people come forward just speeds up the process and cuts out a lot of initial searching.

Kid loses his shoe right before you leave the house. Is it going to be faster for you to look by yourself, or have everyone available looking as well? Same principle
  9. KushallaFV Playing EverQuest

You’re reading more than what’s in the public statement. If you want to claim DPG is doing their due diligence to compensate affected customers then they should put that in the statement. As it stands now, all the responsibility is put on the customer.

Your example is flawed because that’s not a comparable situation. Anyone can claim they lost a Krono, which creates extra workload on the CS staff.
  10. Randomized Augur

I never mentioned anything about this. I simply stated that their acknowledgement of thr situation and leaving details out is currently their best move.

No where did I say anything about their actions concerning compensation.

Youre acting like this isn't already happen. Youre also acting like everyone is going to do it as well, which I'm sure the majority of folks are decent enough to not try to make fraudulent claims on top of what is speculated to fraudulent case.

It's still faster to have people go to them while they're also doing their own searching, and deal with a few false claims, than it is to do it all themselves.

One problem with asking us is that there's no way for us to really know. With shoes, you know you're supposed to have exactly two shoes. If you only have one, you know one is missing. But with Krono, any number could be valid. If I see the number 24 in the box, I don't know if that's correct or not. I might have an approximate idea of my Krono balance, but I don't necessarily know the exact number. Maybe it should be 22, 27, 30, 21, ....I don't necessarily remember the exact number and I don't have a way to validate what I think it should be.

Up until this issue, I didn't really pay attention to my exact Krono count. I went through and looked at the Krono on my accounts and the numbers look about right. But I don't really know if I'm missing Krono or not. It's not like I keep track of them like my bank balance in my check register. Maybe I'm missing Krono, maybe I'm not. It's like the bank asking its customers to tell them if their balance is incorrect. Most customers will have an approximate idea of what their balance should be, but they're not going to know exactly what it should be. The bank should be able to figure out their own when there is an error in the balance.

I don't think you've had a role like this before, but this isn't the route you take. You don't encourage everyone to flood your CS ticket system, because now everyone thinks they could be affected.

Their statement should've just generalized the internal process about tracking, restoration, and notifying those affected. It takes responsibility, action, and presents a narrow scope.

It feels to me like this response implies that it may not be about chargebacks after all.

I don't think you've been in this role before. Why are you dealing in absolutes? Why are you making it out to be like EVERYONE has to put in a ticket.

    1) not everyone has/deals with Krono
    2) not everyone who has/deals with Krono is affected
    3) hardly anyone is dealing with such a large amount of Krono as right make a false or unsure claim. Did I have 237 or was it 247??

Youre overreacting by quite a little. Now I'm not as naive as to think there won't be people who'll try to pull a fast one and claim they had a Krono go missing when they didnt..but that amount is considerably lower than you make it our to be.

It still speeds the process up having people come to you collectively instead of going out to each one individually. Especially with their limited size/resources
  15. KushallaFV Playing EverQuest

You put extra strain on a minimally staffed CS team, and invite a lot of unnecessary tickets. It doesn't take having a large amount, it's a simple as thinking did I have 2 or 3 Krono? There's no transaction history to show how much I should have.

Also, seems like a good time for bad-actors to slip in some petitions saying they're missing a couple Krono, and hope the over-worked CS agent is just trying to hit their quota.

Nobody knows the full-extent of the missing Krono and the public statement makes it clear DPG has no idea either.
  16. CatsPaws Just getting rid of the old

    There is transaction history.

If you buy the Krono via DBG it shows in your account purchase history although it is only the dollar amount but there are few items that cost just that. It also shows there when you consume one.

If you use the parcel service you see a message stating you received it and a line item in your parcel screen that stays there until you delete it (the line item not the Krono)

If you trade with another player then you take a screen shot. Everyone should be doing that but I am sure few do.

And having lost Krono in the past and submitting a petition CS was able to tell me the Krono went from point A to B to C to D etc and exactly where it was.

Even though we joke about them, never underestimate the force of CS.

It sounds to me like GM's knew of the bug and were refunding plat and CS just now realized players were losing Krono so they in turn talked to GM's who verified it and now its been passed onto the code guys who are trying to figure out how its happening. We have to remember there are a lot of different departments. And they don't always communicate well. With each other or with us

You also take a lot of strain off of a limited CS team by having the problem come.to you. This works both ways. It's easier to debunk a false claim and dismiss it than it is to go through through the work of finding and tracking missing Krono without leads.

So now everyone has dementia and no one keeps track of their Krono? The amount of people who are going through so many buying and selling transactions that they're unable to recall or keep track of how many they have, is going to be abysmally low.

Most people who hold onto multiple Krono have a set number.
    I have 3 accounts, I need 3 Krono
This item is 5 Krono, I need 2 more to get it. So I've had 3 for awhile and trying to buy the remaining 2.

These aren't scenarios like Nutter Butters in your pantry that come in a box of 12, you've had them for 4 weeks and have no clue howw many are left because you're not a psycho and keep track.

Nor are people making 28 transactions involving Krono in a single day to no net gain/loss. Hey man imma sell these 2 Krono for 5m a piece. In 3 hours I'm gonna that 10m and buy 2 back just because!

Youre trying to make this more complicated than it really is. But there is one thing I'll concede to, and that's not realizing you're missing a Krono because you don't constantly check your Krono count.

Example: I sold a few items from those Guktan crates for a combined 4 Krono. I promptly sold one for some plat. So I've been sitting on 3. I haven't bothered to see if one went missing (because that isn't a common occurrence), and simply because I haven't had a reason to deal with them. I don't need more plat, I don't need the game time, so they sit there collectively as 3 until they have a use.

Turns out best buy gift cards are the ultimate currency all along. BTC in freefall.
  19. fransisco Augur

The response infers literally nothing. Thats you just ascribing meaning.
The response acknowledges they are aware of the issue. Any fuller response will no doubt need to go through legal since its discussing krono/money/subscription stuff.
  20. Buds Augur

Bitcoin, the ultimate scam lol. The rich pump and dump over and over again, but the young generation think it's their ticket to financial freedom.
