Quietly removing Krono from Accounts is Unacceptable!

Yeah that'd make the most sense. A lot of throw away accounts

They could always limit FTP accounts on how many Krono they can buy, like maybe one a month. And then they could limit new accounts to only one a month for the first 6 months, even if it's All Access. Probably wouldn't stop them, but it might slow them down...having to make so many accounts just for a single krono a month for 6 months.

They’re very likely stolen credit cards.

Honestly they picked a crappy system for Krono. They should’ve just went the WoW Token method, where you directly buy from the Store either with in-game currency or real money.

To be fair, WoW token idea came from Krono lol. But it was implemented 100% better than Krono

I just had two Krono removed from my account after using plat to buy them, seeing if i will get a refund for the plat. It definitely makes me not want to buy Krono and even not play the game to some extent.

Yes, I know how charge backs work. Do you know how banks work? Not all banks will quickly reverse charges, in fact many of the banks and credit card companies are now telling customers to attempt settlement with the merchant. They will respond eventually but it can now take 30 or more days. So if someone buys 25 Krono and then tries to get his money back he may be waiting a while. So no profit there to sell it for half price

With the charge back theory the person who is making numerous EQ accounts to buy all those Krono would have to have numerous bank accounts also because banks are not stupid. One, maybe 2 charge backs they might fall for but no more than that. This method is closed end.

While the bot farmers can endlessly create free game accounts, buy endless Krono in game, set up outside the game and profit.

I have seen how they track Krono in the game and I think they have extended that tracking to other sites. While they cannot shut down that site they can pull those Krono out of the game.

If charge backs were the way they would have been using them for years before this and we would have seen many more "disappearing" Krono in the past.

Or here's a thought. With the recent " reduction in players" anyone who bought Krono from those players is getting the Krono rescinded. I like this idea the best.

I'm assuming these would all be phished CCs/forms of payment. No banking account set ups necessary. Just plug in the numbers and buy and let everyone else do the work for you

Wanted to post an update. I actually lost another KR today, third time total, second ticket was still on hold. After petitioning, I received a reply within an hour on the new ticket saying both had been resolved and refunded in in-game platinum. Received teek server PP value of 2KR. Dunno what exactly is going on and it sucks to get caught in the crossfire but at least they helped me, hopefully they help you guys who are bystanders too!

Sounds like chargeback fraud to me. Daybreak could go after them in court.

Lawyer fees would be more than they'd get out of the ordeal. As sad as it is to say, the way they're handling it (and assuming they're doing what they can to stop these people from getting back into the game via other accounts), is about the best outcome.

If they own the CC the CC company may not allow a chargeback. If its stolen then the CC company should call the authorities.

The legal fees alone would probably bankrupt the company.

Plus, do you really want to hinge your legal future on an opening statement like:
"You honor, we have this imaginary currency in a video game..."

Most judges these days know what digital currencies are, that wouldn't be an issue. The only issue would be, how much is enough to go after someone in civil court over? All the merchant needs to do is report the fraud to the issuer if the chargeback is found to be intentional fraud. If the issuer believes it's intentional fraud as well, they will close the account and probably ban that cardholder from opening up anymore accounts with them. I'm sure other banks/issuers also have a lookup system to see if the person signing up for a card has been known for fraudulent chargebacks and deny them.

Too many chargebacks, for whatever reason, the payment processor can cut off service which impacts legitimate transactions as well.

The issues really start when you have stolen cards being used for these types of purchases which is likely one of the issues here. People using their own cards to buy the krono and then charge them back isn't likely the problem.

I'm guessing any official response will need to go through legal since this involves money and subscription stuff. While staff probably cannot say anything specific about this without having an explanation vetted, a simple acknowledgment would be nice.

I think we can all understand why they might have to remove Krono due to chargebacks or whatever. However, the fact that they do it silently is not really appropriate. At a minimum, they should send a notice to the email on file for the account so the owner knows they have been removed.
  18. Svann2 The Magnificent

Chargebacks cost companies money, and its not just the krono. Its totally irrelevant that the payment was for digital services. The court doesnt care about that part.

    It's not a digital currency. It's a 1 month pre-paid subscription to a gaming company.

Calling it a digital currency is like saying the (music service of choice) gift cards at the grocery store are a digital currency.
