Question for those of you who "want to raid"

Discussion in 'Time Locked Progression Servers' started by PathToEternity, Jul 7, 2015.

We normally just killed the other guild first before they could even engage on Tallon Zek and I played on TZ from Kunark to PoP so I was there before instances. We honored losing and left the zone if we lost the battle as long as we were killed in combat with them and not to a train or engaged on a raid NPC. We also rezzed their clerics so they could get people up and out of the zone. We called it, loot and scoot. Not to say that it didn't dirty at times.

Each story is different, this one definitely is. You do not want a piece of the pie, you want the whole pie on a deserted island. I do not play 12+ hours a day, I have a full time job and a family. Yet here I am, doing everything you want to do because I choose to do it rather than complain about not doing it.

It happened when people figured out the meta as the OP already suggested. Now I just think, oh another person who bought a CoF from someone trying to pay for their accounts with kronos.
I suspect thats a sarcastic lol not one of the ones that releases endorphins and makes your overall health improve. Why go down that road of grief and BS again?
  4. Groans Augur

Yes a man with some sense in these forums. I have to wonder at the OP that this game is such a priority in his life, batphone me at 2 am ill come over and batman your behind..... I need my sleep.

My solution was this. Im moving on to eq2 TLP where there are pvp and instances. Im taking my meager kronos (from my meager gear I sold) my few pals and were leaving for greener shores, because the bottom line is folks like the OP who have zero control over their lives are ruining my experiences in EQ, they win oh well. Holly says she think only people with no jobs that live eq and never log off their 18 mages deserve to do raid targets, hell they can have them.

Bat-phoning is not for functioning adults, full stop.

People with wives, kids, and jobs cannot drop everything because a mob spawned in a computer game. It's just unreasonable to expect that, and as EQ kinda invented instancing, there is no reason not to put it in now. My wife would lose her rag if I stopped a film to go play computer games, and that's putting it politely.

People mention contested content in 1999, but it is BS, I did pick up raids on Naggy, FGs, and hate / fear all the time. If you think you played this version of EQ in 1999 I'd suggest u are mis-remembering and relying on memories of past progression servers or on p99 - which is where I experienced it.

What TLP server are you playing on where guilds are 'working together' to 'accomplish' goals?!
  7. Detheb Augur

    1. I mean, noone is selling them for sure(UNless RoI sells the one they got ). There is just an astronomical amount of hate for TL, when we're just playing by the rules that we've been given. Maybe because I'm in TL i don't understand the hate? I never hated Citizen as a whole, just specific members(hi2u Rimidal and Tsunzhu). Hell, even people that I didn't like back then, i ended up being guilded with and having no problems with later on.

    2. It was sort of a sarcastic lol. It was more like, we expected it. On live, when Vule popped, we rushed to engaged, because 4 guilds were trying to get into Demiplane and we needed keys, we won most, lost some. It comes with the territory of raiding i guess.

We've done joint kills with RoI on Maestro and Phinny. We have rez'd RoI when they wiped and they us. We have positive interactions with Rosengard as well for the most part.

Vulak in the past months, obviously. Kinda have to over there.

It's indirect PvP, and Sargeant Slate doesn't do it on purpose.

This has given me to remember a potential parallel.

I quit following EQN closely a few months ago, so more clarity on this topic might have been achieved since then. However, there was the speculation that Rallying Calls (world events that change the shape of a server, making it completely unique from other servers) could be "contested", i.e. players could help it happen or resist it happening. I don't know if we ever found out if you can contest them or not, but assuming for the purpose of this discussion that you can contest them, an example:

Rallying Call: Found The City of Qeynos is occurring. You could help by turning in building materials to help found Qeynos, killing NPCs that hurt Qeynos, or vice versa. Either way, if you actively do, or do not want a Rallying Call to succeed on your server, and the consequences of that are going to be permanent, don't you want the ability to directly PvP the people who are working against you?

Likewise, if people constantly take raid mobs away from you, wouldn't you want to PvP them?

Granted a PvP server would be a nightmare in the boxing climate; naked 6-wizard-teams would come in, kill all of you if they can, or if they have to pick a target and gate, they'll nuke your cleric and/or enchanter in the middle of a pull. Or just plain do hit and run attacks to kill your most important player in the group to keep you from doing anything. And the same 6-wizard team could destroy 50 person raids by picking out the clerics too. Maybe not before, but now that raid mobs are an actual challenge, yes.

And what would people say? You guessed it..."you can box too you know!"

Dont try to forum pvp me bro this isnt a pps race (post per second.... ya not funny)
  12. Vaclav Augur

There's at least four threads that say that's not true with RoI. (mostly locked)
  13. Detheb Augur

Or you didn't play on your server. There were 42? Servers by the end of 2000(Maybe 36, not quite sure of the final number). To assume that what happened on your server is what happened on every server is just short sighted. I personally am Enjoying my time(Even when we lose a mob or two), because this is the raiding i remember(Mostly. I mean its definitely like an extreme version of what we did, but still)
  14. Groans Augur

You can say anything you want doesnt make it true.

Another post that just restates that this is how the game currently is and makes no attempt to claim that the current state of the game is better than the proposed (instanced) state.

I don't dispute that my choices are what's keeping me from raiding on TLP. I choose not to quit my job that has me working 80 hours a week. I also choose to sleep at least 6 hours a night. These choices make it impossible to raid on TLP 3.0.

My argument is that a server with expeds/dz instancing, which gives people like me a chance to raid within our time constraints, will be healthier longer than the current state of the game.

I'm waiting to hear an argument hat says otherwise

That is because you only hear the bad and moaning on the forums. You never get the full story or all the angles. People are here to and whine, that is it.
  18. Vaclav Augur

To assume what happened on YOUR server is the majority is equally short-sighted though. Between play and Guiding I experienced the environment on LITERALLY FIFTEEN servers now, a dozen classic times, three with the TLPs.

None mesh with the version given except for the last two TLPs and TWO of my ancient times servers that I only played on briefly as a result - Sullon Zek and Discord. Notice something in common with those two servers? Also the lifespan of those servers?
  19. Vaclav Augur

Uh... all the "we hate RoI" stuff was started by TL posters - two of the examples off my head were started by TL with the hate in the initial post.

It wasn't whining - it was TL people attacking RoI for being lame because of X/Y/Z.

Pretty sure unless there's a 1k likes trophy you're already almost capped on points.
