Question about mercs

If I can't summon a journeyman merc because I'm now FTP, how do I get rid of it, so I can purchase an apprentice merc?

One of the buttons in the merc UI window is "Dismiss" or something like that

The merc needs to be summoned before I can see the "dismissed" button, but I can't summon it.

I just had an account go Silver and lost the J5 merc. I don't remember clicking dismiss but I just went and bought a lower one.

Did you try to go buy another one and see what the npc says?

Just checked. It says I have the maximum number.

And your dismiss button is not red? Do you have a custom UI?

I am able to dismiss without unsuspending.

So maybe zone, camp to desktop, run file verification

I don't have a custom UI. I'll try your suggestion.

Been gone all day, so I didn't have a chance to log in. I tried your suggestions, and was able to dismiss the merc. Thanks,
