Quest Nerf

I think the worst part of it is that there was no mention of this change in the patch notes. And if it had been in the Test patch, then either Test players weren't running this task or chose not to say anything.

They tried to slip this in with no notice because they knew the player backlash would have been epic. That's how much contempt they have for the players.

Yep, every expansion release involves several "bait-and-switch" tactics.

One of the many dark patterns the devs engage in.

Same voices, same broken records of positivity and negativity. It was most likely a mistake, and embarrassing that it got to live. It was not mentioned in the patch notes. It is akin to a buy 1 get 3 free sign at the grocer. Quick change the sign and the sign maker gets a write up.

I had no idea only raiders have been playing for a couple months. This is a really dumb comment, everyone under the sun has been running this quest. Casuals, raiders, etc. It wasn't hard to do. It didn't take "raid gear" LOL

My 2 biggest frustrations from this latest patch, not my only, just my biggest, are:

    1. the unannounced nerf to this quest. I do not play a class that can easily go out and molo content in the most current expansions easily. For me to do this, I gotta box (which isn't for me) or REALLY work at being on point 100% of the time and frankly, I play for fun. That isn't fun. This was a great way for me to continue snagging AA for glyphing on raids and not feel terrible for 'wasting' the tons of AA I am still working on after taking a 5 year sabbatical.

    2. Test: Give druids, enchanters, wizards, and rangers a boost in regaining mana. THE EQ COMMUNITY REJOICES! HAHA just kidding. It didn't even last the full week on test and obviously didn't make to this week's patch. AND they then mock us druids by (unintentionally) leaving the % after the amount of mana returned so it looks like you get 823% mana back but it is, in fact, just 823. Which is 0.185423003% of my total mana :(

Yes my ranger gained so much exp.. oh wait.. hes group geared and used it to catch up not even living there 24/7 like others did. My Cleric did this like 5 times when bored and got all her AAs while doing progression/doing Missions/mass killing mobs because the necklace don't evolve with the HF#2 task. Stop crying when you had the same chance of doing it for 2.5 month... not our fault you sucked there also.

Was marked as "not a bug", so 100% intentional.

Should have kept the AA the same and just put like a 12 hour task timer on it instead of 30 mins or whatever it was. Then at least you could whack it at least once day and feel good about EQ for 3 minutes.

3/14/2007 Is the date the patch was put in that changed The Library Heist to be non repeatable. Originally it could be done over and over again. I suspect it was changed because of the amount of exp that was being gained by doing the quest. Now with this Emberclaw Sisters nerf i see they can change the exp gain from a quest as easily as someone can change the temperature on a thermostat.

So why can't they just make the Library Heist repeatable and nerf the exp gains from it? I mean no one is doing the Library Heist quest the one time only for the exp gains. They are doing it for the Cracked Urn Handle and the achievement that goes with it, to make the Tsaph Katta's Urn of Rejuvenation. I don't know much about programing or what goes into successfully completing a patch but it doesn't seem it would be all that difficult to just nerf the exp gain from it and make it repeatable. That's just one more step above what they did with The Emberclaw Sisters, except in this case it would be a positive change.

That makes too much sense. People 'round these parts don't take kindly to that kind of talk.

What a complete load of garbage, the change has nothing to do with raiders. This quest was one of the first quests in an unlocked zone of the expansion. Feel free to explain why casuals (or anyone for that matter) couldnt be completely done by running and rerunning a 2 minute quest that can be done nekkid. It was literally the fastest way to complete AA in the expansion and completely open to anyone who bothered to log in. Quite a few of us steered clear of spamming it for exp because it was clearly unintentional and massively boring. The devs just fixed the glitch.

Git gud. Classic and wonderful advice.
I cut out your humble bragging cause we don't really care.

Whilst I don't agree with it, the first few at anything will often be able to take advantage before it is discovered and then nerfed for the masses.

It's just another whinge I have at people ahead of the curve always seem to get ahead whilst the ones behind the curve just get the sh*t end of the stick. (and no it isn't about 'gitting gud' - are we back in 2010?).

Edit: I'm not pointing fingers at those that did exploit it (it was fair game), I'm pointing fingers at how it is suddenly decided to be OP and nerfed without warning.
  16. Velisaris_MS Augur

They COULD have nerfed it in the January patch, but they chose not to. That gave people confidence that they were going to leave it in and could be used to help max out AA and easily refill glyphs.

We should ALL know by now that if it's too good to be true and a benefit to players...it's gonna get nerfed.

Same here... People always say "you have all year to do XYX." No, actually you don't, at least not if you want to get in before the nerfs come.

Considering how fast and easy this quest was, I am surprised that anyone is shocked that it got nerfed. It was long overdue

I can see druids and rangers regaining but wiz and enc have ways of getting mana back good. Just curious what ways was a ranger gonna get back mana? I main a ranger so curious.
