Preferred Server List

    Currently shows:

    Oakwynd
    Teek
    Tormax
    Vox

Now perhaps those are the servers you, as a company, would prefer people to play on, but they are certainly not preferred servers by the player base, save one.

Suggestion - instead of a 'preferred server' list, how about a 'your most recent' list; that might actually be useful.

Vox wouldn't qualify as a most recent server.

I don't think you understand the purpose of the list.

It's to show folks the newest tlp servers and to drive people who do not care to the least populated server(s) ... which is Vox atm.

    That's all.

The community (either here or on discord or even in game) does a pretty good job of directing folks to good places based on what they state they are looking for.

I'd rather they just have one list personally (no preferred). But I can see why they do what they do ... so I live with it and move on.

    Yes. Exactly.

That makes sense but only in the sense that it doesn't make any sense at all; so you are right - I do not understand the purpose of the list. Oakwynd is neither new nor popular nor the least popular (pretty close, however), so perhaps you don't either. Additionally, no one is seeking out the lowest population server, whether the company wants them to or not, so the positioning is wasteful. Just the newest servers listed would at least be logical but having Oakwynd and Vox present makes it look like they have no idea what they are doing.

So I don't think the preferred list is for established players as they know what it is they prefer. But instead for those coming back (25th anniversary would be a big eye catcher for many).

And "referring" someone to a Live server after a long time away is a no-go simply due to how far the game has progressed and how top heavy the entire server is.

So if we look at the preferred list we see 4 things

    1) Oakwynd - Evolving progression TLP
    2) Teek - young fresh server + random loot/free trade
    3) Tormax - young fresh server + standard TLP
    4) Vox - the end cycle of TLPs when they catch up to live.

It's the 3 different TLPs and then the Live Server which was SUPPOSED to be their mega server when all TLPs get merged.

It's simply the 4 experiences of the game

The "preferred" server list is also, or perhaps only, a tool to try to let older servers die off by driving people away from them. I remember when Agnarr came off the preferred list; it caused a decrease in server population.
