PLer toxicity discussion

Discussion in 'Time Locked Progression Servers' started by Demetri, Jul 3, 2024.

I've made a few thousand plat looting mobs from the pile of corpses that these PL'ers leave behind. I guess that is the only good thing I can think of about these people.

So has anyone else had the pleasure of grouping with someone who was clearly PLed and had no clue how to play their class? I joined a group where 1 person for sure and another that I am pretty sure did.

A majority of people on TLPs don't know how to play their class beyond the CH rotation eras which is a good 95% of the game.

so they know how to play their class for 95% of the game? i don't get it
  4. Demetri Augur

There is no similarity in the scale, like comparing a palanquin to a car - they perform a similar function in a similar way but the efficiency and greater impact are completely different.

And I've literally seen plenty of quits over this nonsense - and had one "exemplary" example of such, train me not once, not twice, not three times but FOUR TIMES intentionally (LDCs and Freet area up at the SolB window) including a rude message to "get the (redacted for language) out of my zone" during the third, for daring to touch a few kobolds for farming black henbane for my shammy.

Stuff like that was completely routine in Luclin, right? I was discussing the toxicity of such folks, not that AE PL was happening - if you cared to read the thread you'd note I even stated I'm fine with those that work around others and respect other players. *GASP* I do some AE PL for my personas and friends but I go out of my way to apologize for errors and NEVER actively harm others.

    Read it again.

Post CH era is 95% of the game which a majority don't know how to play. So basically TLPers know 5% of their class and game, if that.
  6. CdeezNotes Augur

Back in the day I would just high sun people who trained me.

Works great for single mob trains still, not so much for mega pulls. (Plus not a bard ATM)
  8. CdeezNotes Augur

Works great for mega pulls. Stand at their pull loc and rotate targets. They train themselves.

If they're ae mezzing, just get any char that can ae dd (most casters). Your single nuke will most likely not pull aggro. If not a caster, rotate auto attack targets. A single hit round isn't enough aggro to pull aggro.

If you get it, you get it.

Give ae stuns to every class. Let the people have fun.

Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface. Yet the vast majority only really care about that other 29%. Not really sure what point you're trying to make here. Live players always try to make these silly strawman arguments for some reason. There's a plethora of other MMORPG's that are objectively better than EQ if you're looking for a "modern" feel. The only reason to play EQ is for nostalgia and/or for the "classic" style. Hence Teek being the most popular EQ server in history.

Noone is blatantly RMTing in general. Unless you consider people paying krono for any and everything RMT, in which case the entire server is RMTing. Stop being absurd
  12. CdeezNotes Augur

More people play post POP content than there are classic to POP. Post POP is objectively a better gaming experience in EQ. What is your point? Mine was the majority of clueless players of their class are just your annual rerollers.

And you make absolutely no sense. Teek has nothing like a classic feel and isn't nostalgic at all. It's like EQ meets Diablo. Teek is popular because its ez mode loot cornucopia.

its not just AE PLers, i was in Dalnir yesterday and some warrior was getting PLed by a high level shaman and started being a major diva.. My son and I were fighting at the zone line, and his pet chased a mob that ran away from us and ended up going near this guy

he immediately starts messaging my 5 year old son telling him to stop, tells us we're being annoying AF, etc, etc... and we literally did nothing

then i was running around looking for a pull, ran into his area, saw him, turned around and left to find something else... and he starts messaging me a bunch of nonsense again

i explained to him that he needs ot stop messaging the shaman because its a 5 year old playing it, then he proceeds to call my son an idiot, etc among other things

So i gathered a nice 15-20 mob group, and unfortunately i got stun locked right near him and had to FD.... poor guy didnt make it

The PLers in general can be toxic AF on this server, people try to claim entire sections of the zone way beyond any reasonable person

its nice being a monk for once, can dole out some justice once in awhile when needed.. pretty rare i would ever do that, but sometimes you have to make an exception, and i dont really concern myself with a suspension, i drop like $100/mo on this silly game so i cant picture them suspending or banning me because some unstable virgin was angry at their computer
  14. TheChosenOne Augur

uhh because it would be considered unreasonable for most players to run 6 accounts at a time lol... that is like an extreme meta version of the game that you're casually normalizing and saying anyone who doesnt 6 box is bad at the game

    just wow

Honestly surprised they haven't made all the 'dungeons' some form of instance refreshable every hour and half or so like on EQ2.

The massive PL armies like the one that literally just ran me out of The Hole five minutes ago can stick to the open world one with respawns, and the rest of us can dungeon crawl to explore the entire dungeon with no respawns and if we want to run it again we can intermission and run it again.

I box a small group and even I laugh at the 20-30+ armies people are running around with on a supposed 'truebox' server. Like, my office gets pretty toasty with just the 3 laptops and 3 desktops, you're telling me these guys are legitimately running 30 machines independently without 3rd party software aiding them?

If you believe that, then I have this bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell to you..

I can tell you really are getting riled up about this. There isn't a need for it.

I have seen plenty of people happy about the option to powerlevel a character. Sometimes people that do these powerlevels are toxic. This toxicity is not exclusive to powerlevelers.

While it is unfortunate that you were trained in Everquest a few times, you need to get over it. You should record them and petition but other than that I don't know what your goal is here.

I promise there will be no official response to your little pity party. There will be no official stance on "AE PLers being toxic and mean". I agree it sucks that individuals act like this in game but I have played Everquest for a long time and it's nothing new. Hope you are able to emotionally recover from the training you experienced in Sol B

Not about the topic in general, in relation to some fool that comes along and responds with wild implications that is completely clueless of things already addressed? Yea, that does bug me a bit, being forced to repeat myself IS annoying.

Of course not, but here's the thing - IT DOES HAPPEN WITH A GREATER FREQUENCY THAN NORMAL - with the toxic ones.

Literally twice to date on Teek, because I do tend to keep an eye to avoid them and I don't mind losing an hour finding a spot because I have plenty of playtime - but seen plenty of others that have literally quit or considered quitting because they had entire days of (their more limited) playtime halted because of AE PL folks screwing things up for them.

See, some of us in this world aren't sociopaths and can actually relate to the pain of others and advocate for them.

There wasn't an "official response" in text for it in March or so when they did the last batch of attempting to address the actions of these folks, but there was on the internal development server which then went live (although it failed to address the issue).

Hopefully you appreciate this attention you so desperately need though. Devs if they're looking for something have it here, but you'll notice at no point did I say "OMG DEVS ADDRESS THIS" or similar. Just I saw the discussion pop up earlier as a problem for folks again, but some "naming" happened in the 2nd post on the thread which got it nuked, so I stepped up to restart the thread while keeping it constructive.

(Also, I seriously doubt you've played longer than myself - very few have - without a break I've played since Beta 2 when my coworker invited me over to take a first look, and even for the March 1999 release date, since I was working in software retail management at the time, I got to take my copy home two days early - and servers were already running so I was technically running around on there with a handful of other early copies before most could even install the game)

And mind you, plenty of things "were never going to happen" according to folks on the forums for ages - AOCs? Nope, Pickzones? Nope, Key adjustments? Nope.

(And note, my SolB antagonist I think IS being slowly weaned into the sequence of banning - he seems to be on for 2-3 days and then go on vacation again recently - but I have stopped spending much time there, since before I'd forgotten that Deepwater Ink makes L60 potions - so used to the TLP treadmill where Henbane is the best that makes usable potions, but not this time, Ink works out of the gate)

What bugs me the most out of all this is the channel spam and the irony is you use to be able to report people and mark them as spam which would basically auto-delete all messages they send out, it would mark the whole account so even if they made new toons it did nothing. People abused it however so they did away with it it seems, the button is still there but appears to do nothing, if anything comes out of this hopefully they bring this function back in our time of need.

At one time you could get your own instance of raid zones and they gave full exp. People were using it to get their own zones to exp in and they changed it to give like 20% of the exp as the regular zone. They said it put too much load on the server.
  20. AzzlannOG Augur

This is all whiney nonsense, there are 30 picks of Chardok and several of Seb, you can block the spam, and the majority of PL'rs try and keep to themselves. The only way you're getting pulled onto is if you set up where they are. There are exceptions obviously but what you're describing is fantasy. Also there is a huge market for leveling from people who want to play the game their way, allowing these people to play is a good thing.
