Please place a "Garbage Bin" NPC in Guild Lobby

Please place a NPC that "destroys permanently everything you hand to it" in Guild Lobby or PoK.

Handing items to pets/familiars used to be our workaround for destroying permanently trivial No Trade items. Now that this workaround has been taken away, please give us a substitute.

If we use the Destroy button for all the No Trade quest items/trivial quest rewards/used up Pure Energeian Orbs etc, it will clog up the Recovery List very quickly and there will be a much slimmer chance for us to recover a quest item (or whatever) we accidentally destroyed perhaps just a month ago.
    Evercluck and Brudal like this.

For pure energian orbs go clear solteris and sell them back to the elite powersource merchant for 1 phosphite for every 10 you get 1 new ps!
  3. Ploww Lorekeeper

But then people will give the permanent destroy npc their epics and other goodies.

If not a npc, allow the ability to remove any item from your recovery tab, such as every broken fishing pole or previously no pet/no storage quest item left from improperly designed quest that didn't clean up after itself.

You could simply say no for any pop up window that suggests what you are looting is no trade...

Additionally, if its a corpse clutter issue - just make a social button to hide corpses using /hidecorpse looted - additionally there is /hidecorpse all

Better yet, have a better list of " Destroy " items instead of the Parcel npc showing you some.. The list grows and pushes off items in your Recovery list. I deleted an item a few days ago and it doesn't even show up in my list of recovery.. currently a /petition out on that right now.

So yes, have a list of items in some way to not push off the items you may want back. year 2012 tab.. in year 2013 you deleted these items in this month...

I have lost a tun of items from Marketplace.. falling off this recovery list. I sold a full bag of goods not thinking of some of those items I needed. Casino items. And they did not show up on the recovery list.

You don't get a receipt for purchasing SC items. you just get a purchase was made using X amount of SC. If you destroy an item from SC and it is pushed off the recovery list.. your in a world of hurt trying to prove when and what you bought with whom. I have lost plot crates full of stuff this way.

So yes, there needs to be a better way to recover items in EQ.

I want to correct something here... The post above..
I SOLD my full bag of goods .. Not Destroy.
Selling items sometimes lists them for you to re buy.
Destroying items should go to the list of Recovery tab on Merchant(s).

My items , since sold, did not show to re buy, nor did they show up on Recovery.
I did get the items back via /petition.

My problem with all this is, the list items on the Destroy tab, is a very short list.

Just wanted to clear that up :)
    sorry.

I experienced this only a week ago trying to recover something that ended up being flushed out of my recovery list by junk I had deleted.

Another idea would be to give us a way to clear out our recovery items. Perhaps check boxes where we could check off the stuff we wanted to get rid of..... OR maybe modify it so that very common delted items never get on the list in the first place. Heros Forge armour comes to mind...

Even with /hidecorpse looted I seem to still want to clean up everything..... still recovering items makes SOE money... if it happens enough it may be worthwhile to make changes but I suspect with the new looting system (whenever its ready) and the hidecoprse command that we wont get any attention on this. I do admit your idea of a garbage bin sounds easy to implement but people are then going to accidentally delete things permanently. *shrugs* not sure what the answer is or at least if there is an easily implemented answer.

Part of the issue with items that accumulate are progression and other quests that do not consume their quest components when finished. Some of these are also marked noPet or whatever else that make them that your only option is to destroy to free up bank space. I try to be efficient with how I manage my space and would also like an NPC somewhere I can just hand trash to.
  10. Stell_CT Elder

    This is an excellent idea.

This is indeed an excellent idea. The NPC should include a prominent message to the effect that anything given to it will be permanently destroyed and unrecoverable when someone gives it an item.

This would likely save Customer Service more than a few requests to return items which have dropped off the "recover" tab due to folks routinely now needing to destroy a whole lot of "junk" items.

While a good idea, this isn't going to stop the CS complaints as much as people think it is.

Look at what's happening now, people who are prone to delete or lose things often (some have already out'd themselves in this very thread) are still going to delete and lose things. Confirmation screens you get used to or turn them off.

Would be interesting though to know how CS complaints broke up % wise (to see if this is actually a large part of their petitions).

You can summon a temporary bag, put things in it and then destroy the whole bag without any of the contents being added to the recovery tab on vendors.
It's not the perfect solution, but it an efficient work around under current options.
If you are not a Mage, any tradeskill trophy summoned bag will work.

I have plenty of old armor on toons. The armor just clogs my inventory up. It would be great to easily get rid of this stuff. I say yes to a Garbage bin NPC or object.
  16. roguerunner Augur

You can use your house item storage too for some of those things
  17. smash Augur

Why not just donate it to tribute ?
  18. Stell_CT Elder

    Not everything tributes
  19. Inagaki Elder

This does not work. The temp bag will not go to recovery list BUT all items inside the temp bag will appear on the recovery list as separate items. i.e. if you put 5 items inside temp bag and use the destroy button, the 5 items will still appear on the recovery list.

Please understand the new loot system is not going to solve most of our problems.

We are talking about (a) quest items that do not disappear after finishing a quest, (b) unwanted trivial quest rewards, (c) used up Pure Energeian Orbs, (d) quests that force you to pick up 4-8 items to view them before you know which is the item the quest NPC wants e.g. Sarnak Recovery and Me Gold (yeah, yeah, can use ;itemlink to check item without looting, but why are we forced to go to such measures)

The new loot system won't solve this. The tribute system won't solve this. Summoned temporary bags won't solve this.

I am down to my last two Pure Energeian Orbs and I am not making new ones after this. I am going to use lower level orbs (which are NOT no trade like the Pure ones) to avoid having my recovery list clogged up by no trade orbs. Please don't ask me to go clear Solteris for Orbs so that they can be sold back to vendor after they are used up. This is not a reasonable workaround. I will rather give up the additional stats and use lower level orbs.
